Which isn't to say this place is cheap; like many artisanal bakeries in California, it comes with a premium price tag, but at least it's not Dominique Ansel pricy. Croissante's croissant dough baked goods (viennoiserie) is pun-intended "proof" that you get what you pay for. The dining space is limited and lively. Conversing is a little tough, but if you just need a place to sit while eating, it's just right. Extra special shout out this time to Dill who had informed me the fried chicken dishes today would be an hour and a half wait. After deciding there wasn't anything I wanted more than the Fried Chicken and Spiced Croffle (croissant dough baked in a waffle iron) and was happy to wait, they were nice enough to check in with the kitchen and see if it could be made sooner than that. Since it was the last one available and I already sampled the soy cake, I decided to give it a try. I am happy that I did. The cake was filled with matcha mousse and tasted light and aromatic with the jasmine kind of matcha flavor. It is definitely less sweet. It's a small bakery with lots of trays of individually packaged cakes and pastries. The smell was very pleasant and comforting. Using a flat basket (or tray) I grabbed a few selections. I picked 2 "Heart Pies" that resembled my favorite French Butterfly Cookies. Also 2 pound cakes. The total rang up to just over $21. There's some small tables for enjoying your purchases there, but I took my items to go. The icy cold fruit smoothie was very good and very cold! Not too sweet, it had a natural strawberry taste. The Heart Pies were good and fresh. But the Pound Cakes were probably "day old." I noticed there's no dates or "best by" tags on the packages. It's a nice place to visit, and I will return again. While my family enjoyed all the items, I really enjoyed the black sesame studded puffy rolls that I think were made with rice flour. There was a large group of older Asian ladies, including one who brought their lap dog, enjoying good conversations in their native language with their baked goods and tea or coffee.
