The bakery started as Century Bakery in Grand Century Mall specializing in Green Waffles. The bakery later rebranded as CA Bakehouse and moved to this location in 2019. This bakery is best known as the home of the original Green Waffle. [Parking]: It was difficult to find available spots at this super busy plaza on Sunday at 12:30 PM, but there's a parking structure at the back of the plaza. [Ordering]: This is a takeout spot with no indoor or outdoor tables available. [Menu]: Some of Yelp's top highlighted items are Portuguese Egg Tart, Mochi Cake (Original / Banana Walnut / Guava), and Pandan Green Waffle. There was a controversy in 2022 that Third Culture Bakery sent a cease-and-desist letter to CA Bakehouse to stop using the trademark "mochi muffin," and CA Bakehouse was forced to change the name to "mochi cake." ( https://sf.eater.com/2022/6/6/23156602/third-culture-bakery-mochi-muffin-trademark-social-media ) *** Portuguese Egg Tart ($3.25): It had a strong brown sugar aftertaste. A bit sweet but I liked it. They didn't go cheap on the filling as it tasted very thick. Mochi Cake (Guava - $3.50): Chewy cake with guava filling - I still liked the egg tart better. Pandan Green Waffle ($3): Not too sweet with a chewy texture - it was the best one out of the three and definitely a must-get. *** A solid 4.5-star for the baked goods and bump up to a 5-star for the affordable prices.

CA Bakehouse does not open till 12 noon so that's my main complaint. That's why it took us a long time to ever try it and was only here twice. They are pretty popular so there can be a line. Ordering is done by the door, no one is allowed to go inside and I don't really understand why. There's no way for us to really see and explore what else we want to order. We have ordered the following on both occasions: - Choux (my fave and our usual) - kaya and ube flavors - Pandan-Coconut Milk bread - Banh Bo (honeycomb cake) - Guava filled Mochi cake - Durian, Kaya & Portuguese Egg Tarts - Kaya Croissants All in all, it is good. Hoping they will open earlier like 10am. October 2026

We used to shop and order our cakes from Dick's bakery, up until they burnt down. We loved their famous burnt almond cake. When I heard that Peter's makes an excellent burnt almond cake, as well, I knew that's where I wanted my birthday cake to come from. When I opened the door, to enter the bakery, a fresh smell of baked goods and sweets hit me in the best possible way. It smelled like fresh maple glazed donuts. I love that smell. We were warmly greeted by the staff. It wasn't busy at all, so we took our time looking for other sweets to purchase. They found our pre-ordered cake and they did a wonderful job decorating with a cute pumpkin on the top. We also chose an apricot danish, a maple bar and a raisin snail. The prices were very affordable and reasonable here. I really loved how all the pastries and cakes. were displayed in their cases. Everything looked amazing. They even sell fresh loaves of bread and rolls. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were immediately helped with a smile. I love the old fashioned vibe in here. Both pastry and cake boxes were tired up with sting, to properly secure our box. We paid for our goods and hurried home to try a few of them. The maple doughnut was good. I loved the icing better than the doughnut itself. The apricot danish was delicious and so soft. The apricots on the top were not overly sweet, which I prefer. The pumpkin burnt almond cake was so good. The cake was so soft and light with a wonderful pumpkin flavor that reminds me of fall. The frosting and custard filling paired perfectly with the pumpkin cake. The caramelized almonds covered the entire outer cake and offered a nice flavorful crunch. The whole thing works perfectly. I didn't even know you could get the burnt almond cake in pumpkin. A huge thank you to my friend John D. for letting me know about this limited time fall flavor. We will definitely be back for more soon.

On September 4, 2026, I ordered and paid for my mother's 96th birthday cake--a burnt almond cake--a day in advance. When I arrived to pick it up, the line was very long, and the wait took far too long. Unfortunately, the cake itself was unbelievably dry and crumbled with every bite. After recommending Peter's Bakery to family and friends for many years, I was embarrassed to serve this cake. Sadly, it took away from a very special birthday celebration. I hope Peter's Bakery improves both its customer service and the quality of its cakes.

The canvas is a creamy white frosting, the base wrapped with flowing grass icing and white and yellow flower fondant. A classic whimsical Winnie and Piglet are nestled in the grass. As you make your way to the top of the cake, there's a "Hunny" jar with overflowing honey icing spilling over the side, and little fondant bees enjoying the bountiful honey. Perched at the top next to the honey jar is a chocolate yellow honeycomb, a perfect touch to this artful cake. The cake was an absolute hit with guests, and a perfect centerpiece. Then it came time to cut the cake... which felt so wrong but also so so right. The cake cut smoothly and was impeccably moist. Inside was a chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling. It was as lovely and delicious on the inside as it appeared on the outside. Infinity out of 10, can't recommend Marvel Cake enough! A welcome addition to Santa Clara and definitely glad I stumbled upon this place! Not to invalidate the French, but the concept of a French bakery with croissants underscored by madeleines, ham & cheese options, and moist pumpkin pie-y cheesecakes is like- bippity boppity boo! I had a Preligen's Ham & Cheese croissant and it was so deliciously outstanding that I had to have a second one and that was also a first for me. It was as if they were marinated in butter (but of course that doesn't make sense). The cheese in the croissant was a flavor that I had not tasted before. And the ham (which is usually so undesirable to me that if say for example it was on a pizza, I would remove it) was so rich in taste and had an unusual texture. I would rather sausage, bacon, or even pepperoni any day over ham. If the Ham & Cheese Croissants are so unique and stellar in flavor, I cannot wait to try others from their, including and even a plain one. By the way, I called to ask what the secret ingredients were that made their ham & cheese so unusual. Preligen (who is the owner's first name) said that they use Gruyère cheese. This isn't located in the historic Japantown where our draft party is. Good thing we started out early. We were still able to make it to this bakery and to our Draft party. I googled Japantown and came up with this bakery so I'm not sure how I ended up in the wrong place. This bakery is located in a Japanese Shopping Center with some many great shops and restaurants. I wish we had more time to check everting out. We did go to the market in the shopping center and picked up a 5lb bag of rice for under $20 so all is well. As for this bakery it was a total success. I yelped them and discovered they had strawberry sandwiches. I had my heart set on it. Strawberry goodness. A soft crustless white bread filled with fresh strawberries and cream. When researching this bakery I read some of the Yelp reviews and reviewers were saying that people wait outside their doors before they open so I was afraid they would be sold out by the time we arrived. We went on Sunday, September 6 at 1pm. There were so many trays empty when we arrived. I looked and didn't see any strawberry sandwiches. There was a line to check out when we arrived so I wasn't able to inquire about the strawberry sandwiches. I found another pastry that had strawberries in it and got in line. Standing in line as we got closer to the front I was able to see into the glass cabinet and saw one strawberry sandwiches as left. I prayed that the couple in-front of me didn't order it. They ordered a strawberry pastry from the case, but not the strawberry sandwiches. I was lucky. I snagged the last strawberry sandwich. When I ordered it they asked how many. I should have said 2 and maybe they'd pull another one out of the back. It was so good so two would have been the perfect amount to hold me over till lunch. Parking is a challenge. They share a lot with the whole shopping center and it's impacted. We drove around the parking lot 3 times before we found a spot. We even pulled around on the far side of the lot and checked out that area and it was all filled. Finally someone pulled out infront of us and we got a space. What a relief as I was getting really worried that we wouldn't get a spot.
