Located in a strip mall where the locals shop, this is a great spot for dessert. They take a bubble waffle and use it as a cone for your ice cream. You can choose the soft serve flavor, add two toppings, and a flavor syrup. It's a large serving and would be advantageous to have a friend to share this dessert.

My son recommended this place so I gave it a try. Yummmy for my tummy! The cone is a battered goodness that pulls off into these bite-sized round pieces. This treat is a light and crispy outside with a soft serve ice cream. You choose your soft serve flavor, two toppings (more toppings extra charge) and your syrup. If you're looking for an ice cream treat, try it. Your sweet tooth will thank you for it. Will I return? Most certainly.

My husband and I loved this place. The girl working was so nice and very helpful considering it was our first time. There's a sheet of paper at the front that walks you through the flavor choices & toppings you. There are some flavors/ toppings that cost extra (green tea, toasted marshmallow, fresh strawberries). We both got the specialty flavors: strawberries and cream and then Kona. The strawberries and cream was okay, it wasn't the best strawberry ice cream but I loved my green tea bubble waffle, the strawberries were extremely fresh and the toasted marshmallow was everything and more that I wanted. My husbands Kona ice cream was PHENOMENAL though. It tasted like a fresh cup of coffee. He added caramel sauce and it was the perfect addition. A little pricey for an ice cream snack but it's fun and not something you get everyday. If you can, stop by here. You won't regret it.

I've been two Double Three at City Square Shopping Center (in Kalihi) twice and I've been extremely happy on both occasions. Double three is located in a small storefront, has no indoor seating, and is a few shops north of Kam Bakery. It should be noted that signage (and common sense) indicate that after you're done placing your order and paying, you should wait outside so others have space to order and pay as well. Now on to the good stuff, the dessert... let's get the obvious out of the way and roughly $14 for a dessert is not inexpensive. But is it worth it? In my opinion, yes it's worthwhile for a "special occasion" or "once in a while" treat. You won't find me here everyday or even every week. The bubble waffle cone comes out warm and very satisfying, the soft serve flavors are great with the texture being just right. The toppings are fresh and delicious, but not overwhelming in terms of quantity. There is a large variety of choices for toppings and cones, but soft serve choices are limited. Also be aware of the fact that you may be in for a wait as each cone takes time, but it shows in the presentation. As previously stated, this is a great special occasion or once in a while treat for both kids and adults. Check it out and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I just have to say, I really appreciated the owner explaining the ordering process. Because I totally forgot to check their yelp before hand on how to order. My daughters and I finally got to try Double Three, and I'm disappointed in myself for not coming sooner! Lol, so we all grabbed our form to fill out. You pick your waffle, soft serve flavor, toppings and sauce. Honestly a steal for the amount you're receiving. Placed our order, and waited outside with the buzzer to let us know when to come and grab it. I was amazed he made our 3 orders all by himself! And when we grabbed our order it wasn't melting at all. Service and food definitely gets 5*! Can't wait to come back.

Yummy bubble waffles and soft serve! I don't care for getting the set because soggy waffles are kinda gross to me haha so I buy it separately. It's a bit more pricey to get it separately but it is what it is. What I don't care for is that my ice cream cup isn't always consistently filled. Sometimes they fill the cup, and other times it's lacking (like the pic I attached). I also saw that they're soon going to stop doing soft serve and offer scoop ice cream instead. Interested to see how that'll be like. Is it the same ice cream, just frozen and scooped? I hope so! At times, it'll take 20-30 min for my order since all the times I went there was only one worker. Not too bad, but I wouldn't mind if I get what I pay for (fill the cup with ice cream or at least be consistent about it).

This ice cream dessert snack was everything I hoped it would be and absolutely perfect after school. The flavors of the day were Kona coffee and birthday cake which are SHOCKINGLY exactly me and my partners favorite flavors!! So we got the flavors of the day. There's so many topping options you can create any number of combinations. You can also just get ice cream if you don't want the bubble waffle but let's be real, you came for the bubble waffle so you better get the bubble waffle!! My little concerns were that the one staff member working there kind of ignored us for a minute. She was in the back of the store doing something. We stood at the front for a minute with our written orders ready before she came to talk to us. And even then she wasn't very friendly... And then my other very minor complaint was that there was no indoor seating. It's hot out here for the summer and eating ice cream outside before it melts all over you is near impossible. Still, I would absolutely come back, I'd just adjust my expectations!! Make a plan for eating in the car or eating QUICKLY. We enjoyed our desserts very much and even managed to run the rest of our desserts home and put them in the freezer for later!

Double Three has been one of my go-to's since college. The owner, Yugo is super nice and always makes my experience here so great. They have order forms at the front that you fill out before paying: - choose your bubble waffle flavor (original, chocolate, matcha (+$) or charcoal +$) - choose your soft serve flavor - choose toppings - choose finishing syrup It's a HUGE bubble waffle ice cream for only $10.50 - i think it would take 2-3 of us to finish this. The bubble waffle has a nice fluffy yet crispy texture, and holds up pretty well to the ice cream. I also like that they use soft serve instead of ice cream because it's easier to eat a softer version than having to bite through ice cream. Overall it's a great place, not only for the aesthetic but also for the overall flavor and value.

Came here after having dinner across the street at Chengdu Taste with a friend and I am SO glad we did. We were lucky that they weren't busy at all so we were able to order right away. I got the matcha bubble waffle with chocolate ice cream and oreo crumbles. It was FIRE. The bubble waffle was soft and chewy, made fresh right then. The matcha flavor was subtle but there. The ice cream is more soft serve style so it was really creamy and nice to eat. The whole thing was really enjoyable. Really cool how many flavor combinations they offer! I will definitely be back to try some new things.

Yummy! These bubble waffle soft serves are huge! Could easily feed two people with one icecream. It was $10 each. The waffle is so delicious and freshly made. It's a cute little small shop and you order on a piece of paper when you walk in. You have to wait outside and wait for your over to ring when it's ready. The icecream was very filling and definitely Instagram worthy. Loved the toppings but the bubble waffles is the best part. Don't tilt your icecream or the inside will fall out!

You honestly can't go wrong with ice cream, their dessert is so cute & delicious it looks like a work of art which is probably why it does take a while to make it especially since usually only one person is making everything. It's one group allowed inside at a time the place is very small, you fill out your own custom order in the front so you get exactly what you want theirs a lot of options to choose from. Some of them cost more than the others so keep in mind it can get pricey depending on what you order. The ice cream itself is not too sweet & the bubble waffle taste very light you can just pop it off and eat it. Usually by the end it's more waffle than ice cream but it's still really good. Theirs a lot of parking in the location so you don't have to worry about being on the street, Overall great place if you want to treat yourself to something sweet.

My first time trying out Double Three, and it was pretty good. The customer service was great. You check mark your choices for soft serve flavor, toppings (2 items & some toppings cost extra), syrup flavor, and bubble waffle flavor. My picks were vanilla soft serve with a reese's cup, and oreo dust as my toppings. I didn't want any syrup flavor and my bubble waffle was charcoal. The charcoal bubble waffle is a smokey vanilla flavor. Just a heads up, the cost is over $11 dollars. I think it's worth it because the size, amount of ice cream, and added bubble waffle. The soft serve was pretty good. It reminded me of Mcdonalds soft serve. The customer service made the experience good. She was kind, and patient when we took several minutes to decide which toppings we wanted. They give you a buzzer, so you can wait outside and explore the area while you wait. Would I come back? Yes, I would.

first timer here, wanted to check out the ig pretty irl. i've been on a fruity pebbles kick lately, so i got the original waffle with strawberry ice cream, fresh strawberries, marshmello, fruity pebbles, strawberry syrup, & whipped cream. honestly one of THE BEST desserts i've ever had, & i've had plenny. the waffle was truly the main event - tasty & crisp with a slightly chewy texture. the ice cream was yummy & refreshing, & all the toppings, especially the fresh strawberries & fruity pebbles, jus made it go from "awesome" to "OMG i need this every day!" go, fill out the order form (this is genious!), take ur instagram shot, & enjoy! read more

Super easy to order using a order form. Everything is made to order so do expect to wait a few minutes but it's so worth it! The egg waffle cones out crispy and warm! Only shortcoming is the store front is on the smaller side with only four small tables. But worry not, the turnover is pretty quick so you'll likely find a set by the time your order is ready. Ample parking space. read more

I went here with my husband. I was really craving something sweet. And this hit the spot. I walked in and it smelt amazing delicious. We were both greeted with a smile. It was our first time there so the lady at the counter explained what to do. Super easy. You just fill out what waffle, ice cream, and toppings you would like. It didn't take long to make. There were two people ahead of us and it took maybe 10 minutes. But it was well worth it. Definitely going again. I'm excited. The price wasn't bad either. read more

I had my mother in law and aunt in town and decided we should finally swing over a try. We absolutely loved it and it was worth every penny. It was about $8 each. Very good but bringing our 8 month old was rough because we have to wait so long. We were the first ones through the door and we still had to wait for our ice cream over 20 mins... very cute atmosphere and the employees are really nice! Just make sure you have time to wait. read more

It was my first time eating here and it's worth it! I like the idea of having to fill out a slip to order, there's also a sign that states that your food may not be served in order (so don't be alarmed when a customer who ordered after you got their food before you did). Their waffle ice cream tastes great, and they have many toppings/syrup options too! If you're ever in the area, try it out. I say it's worth your money read more

A gem in Kalihi! The service was excellent and very courteous in teaching you how to order. The ice cream was really good but the star of the show is that bubble waffle. SO GOOD! Highly recommend this place for a family outing, a date night, or just because as it will satisfy any craving! Once you order there is a little bit of a wait since they make the waffles to order, but the taste makes up for it. The only downside is that it is a small place with not much seating. Be prepared to possibly stand outside to enjoy this wonderful treat! read more

This is my second time here and both times have been delicious. The mochi waffle is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and pairs so well with the ice cream. I went simple both times - vanilla ice cream, original waffle flavor, and double Pocky sticks. So, so, good. Each time I went was during off peak times so the wait wasn't too bad but keep in mind the order form states you can wait up to 45 minutes if it's busy due to them having to make them one at a time. Hopefully they can eventually expand to make multiple at once. read more

This is the real deal! I love everything matcha and their matcha waffle bubbles will not disappoint!! Pair it with your favorite flavor icecream and add one (or more) of the variety toppings offered and you'd be happy you ate this for lunch rather than a normal meal!! My kids (2 and 3yo) both LOVE it here as well. It's so much fun to eat! We went opening wkend at around 3:30pm. I was so surprised at the crowd!! We went again a couple weeks after, this thing as soon as they opened (in hopes to avoid a line) but there were crazy ppl who wanted bubble waffle with ice cream for breakfast -just like us!!! Saw this place all over on Instagram and decided to give it a try. Just my opinion, I don't think this is worth the wait. There are other places that serve egg puffs/egg waffles that are more authentic and that taste much better. The wait takes awhile, which I understand because there are only 2 people putting everything together. The ice cream is not handmade, and the toppings are very generic and they're just an extra thing to add on top. The egg puff itself is very airy, yet crunchy and with a tiny bit of chewiness. They got a great ordering system going on, that was nice. This place would be worth the wait, I guess if you haven't had egg puffs before. Go to Mickey Cafe in Chinatown or Tea Home in Kaneohe. Really great and authentic egg puffs, just get ice cream and the toppings from anywhere else -- boom, you just made your own "Double Three" treat and bet you it's cheaper and wouldn't have to wait as long. read more

All I can say is that the wait is definitely worth it! Based on all the reviews I was expecting the wait to be really long (especially on a Sunday afternoon), but it wasn't too bad! The wait was about 10 minutes and I'm glad I waited. This was the first time eating bubble waffles and I was impressed! I got the chocolate bubble waffle with vanilla ice cream, topped with oreos, sprinkles, pocky and a macaron. For the amount of extra toppings, the price was pretty cheap considering the quality of the entire thing. Both my friend and I would definitely come back! read more

Been meaning to try this place for a long time but never got around to it till now. Went there when we specifically thought it would be empty, at about 4:30pm. The only thing good about this place is that they tell the truth...the sign says it takes 5-6 min per order and they didn't disappoint. A family of 4 was in front of us and we ended up waiting about 20 minutes. Finally got the ice cream after a total of 30 min and it was not good at all. The waffle cone had no taste whatsoever. The frozen Belgian waffles at Costco taste better than that. The ice cream seemed pre made (someone said it was Blue Bunny Ice Cream) and of cheap quality. The same goes with the toppings. I have no idea why everyone is going crazy for this thing other than it looks pretty cool. But after wasting 30 minutes of my life and my wallet being about $8 lighter for one cone I will not be back. read more

Ice cream is good but not worth the price. .75 cents for just one Ferrero rocher lol which was not advertised. Was also our first time and service was not the best. $30 for two ice cream cones with hardly any toppings on it. Won't be back. read more

Very Disappointed with wait time. 45 minutes and only ordered one item. 2 people working with 2 machines. Several People who ordered after us got their order before us. Asked for a refund. Their needs to be a better process because over 45 minutes wait time for a waffle is not worth it. read more

This is a great place for your Instagram worthy food post. The ice cream and egg puff waffle cone tastes good. But was the wait really worth it? My family placed our order for 5 cones at around 3:40pm and didn't receive our last item until 4:37pm... The wait time was around 30 minutes after we placed the order. However, the staff forgot about one of the items and kept continuing to make the other orders even when we had told them that they forgot about our order, hence why we ended up waiting an hour. I was outraged and confronted them about the situation again, after my cousin had already told them a few minutes before. They kept saying "Sorry it's coming up now," but continued on with the other orders. When we received our last item the staff apologized and added a few more toppings as a courtesy... What I don't understand was why they continued to make other orders when they didn't finish an order that they forgot when we had told them... The space is really small, and I would not recommend eating there. The trash can was full and hasn't been changed in a while, there was trash that was overflowing. Would I come back? i find it alright for single people, but families not recommended. very small and it takes awhile to get your order. when its not busy its fine, but since its a very small place it takes only very few people to make it cramp. And an expected 6 to 7 mins, turn to an hour. I almost wanted to leave, but stay only for the kids. I think its better just to go home and make your own dessert. And go china town for the bubble waffle. read more

I love egg puffs and ice cream but to me, this place was more of a "looks better than it taste." They do have good toppings tho. Fill out a form of which flavors and toppings you want then hand it over and pay for your order. read more

Our family stopped here and WHAT A TREAT! Fast service, delicious bubble waffle cones, and tons of toppings. I would have been happy just eating the cone. They are delicious! Our friends were arriving in Honolulu a few weeks after us and we steered them to Double 3! read more

This was my first time here and definitely not my last. The hardest part was choosing what toppings I wanted to add. The waffle was crunchy like they promised and so perfectly made with all your toppings. Base price isn't bad at all, it only gets pricy when you keep adding on toppings but honestly it's all worth it. If you haven't tried it, definitely make sure you go down and try it!!! read more

I came here with a friend of mine on my birthday. The waffles were fresh and they were the perfect crispy & soft combination. I got the Spumoni with Oreos and marshmallows. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is bc the wait was about 15 mins from start to finish with only one party in front of us. This was on a Friday at 1:30pm. The store is small so I can't imagine how crowded it would be had it been busy. read more

Our bubble waffles are influenced and are very similar to the Hong Kong waffles (gai dan zai) but are not exactly the same. We created a new type of batter with our secret recipe to produce a light cake/mochi like texture in the inside with the same crispiness on the outside to go well with the ice cream. We make our waffles/batter from scratch every day. We do not use instant mochi waffles/batter mix like many others do. We are the first DIY bubble waffle “Specialty Store” to serve bubble waffles with ice cream in Hawaii.

History

Established in 2019.

While the owner was studying dessert making in Tokyo, he came across Hong Kong waffles and immediately fell in love. He then went to Hong Kong to learn the traditional way of making Gai Dan Zai (Hong Kong waffles). After spending 2 years in Hong Kong, he decided to open a shop in Hawaii, where he grew up. With his back ground in dessert making, he’s made some changes to the traditional Hong Kong waffles (with respect) to create a modern bubble waffles that goes well when served with ice cream.

Without checking the freezer, I asked son, "Did you eat a few scoops or the whole pint?" He responded, "I ate the whole pint." He added, "It reminded him of eating shave ice." We went here on a Saturday and there was a long line but it was worth the wait. I've had something similar in NY and loved it. This is even better! I'm from Hong Kong so I grew up eating egg puffs. I know they don't always come out the same way (my uncle has an egg puff joint in HK) but I was surprised how good it was!
