Was in here for 5 minutes and left. I walked in looking for a pair of shoes. Unfortunately I didn't find what I was looking for. They had a decent selection. The shoes started at $45 and went up from there. Didn't stay to look at clothes because I was turned off by the lack of customer service. This is a small business. Acknowledge customers when they walk in your door. There were 2 women. I can't tell if they both worked there or if one was a customer. They talked as if they were very familiar with each other. No one else was in the store. A simple welcome let us know if we can help you goes a long way. No acknowledgement on my way out either. read more

My first time in, attempting to consign some items. My clothes were comparable brands to what they carry and in great condition. The blonde woman who evaluated my items told me there was nothing they could use which surprised me. As she did her evaluation, I browsed a rack and found all of their items to be marked way up and it was a turn off. The woman was also rather curt with me, while she was very friendly with a patron just before I came to the counter and it gave me the ick. Will not return and do not recommend anyone purchase from this store. It all seems shady. read more

Disappointed I got ripped off. I bought a set and I thought total was $45 and when I checked out it was close to $80. I don't have a backbone to say anything so I paid it. Went on eBay when I got home and realized the top (paid $45 for) was selling NEW online for $28. Utterly disappointed they don't do their research and rip people off. I do like that they help from clothes going into landfills and I'm sure it's expensive rent there but they just need to try more to be fair. read more

I used to live in the Solana Beach area and now live a little to the north. I have spent thousands of dollars here over the years at Double Take! I thought I would bring some clothing in as my closet was stuffed. I had about 50 items in my car, but grabbed a third of them and brought them in. A few minutes later, she said very curtly there is nothing there. You can go pick your things up at your convenience. I was a little surprised because I buy good quality clothing pretty much 100% designer! While it's not all within the last year or two, several pieces were! They were all brand labels, including Lacoste, Lululemon, Missoni, Madewell, Ralph, Lauren, BCBG, Michael stars, and rag and bone! I tend to buy more classic styles than high fashion so perhaps that's why I was so surprised she didn't want any of it! Not quite sure there's a real rationalization for that ! It was clean and on hangers! My experience of her mannerisms are such that she is dismissive which gives the impression that she's rude! I'm sorry I can't call this anything else but rude! I will not shop here again! I had read all the reviews and decided to give her a chance because where I live there are no consignment stores nearby. Sat and talked with her friend in the middle of the store and didn't move or budge when I was trying to look through racks right by her. I had to work around her. They give you a price to consign your perfect item and then sell it for almost 50 percent less than what they said in only 1 week of taking it....of which you get 40 percent .. so basically only expect 20 percent of the price they mark it at best. This owner Renn Plsek, is kinda a scammer.. Brought my Hermes faux designer purse in this year 2024 and the market value was going for around 275.00-325.00 on line ..It was tough to tell it was not authentic but it was a fake and had no papers. Literally the day I dropped it off it magically sold! As I called in to see if she would up the cost of what she priced it at. She had it at 120.00! Yeah she really knows the market-or is it that you price it low so can make more? Hoping the consigner doesn't pop in to check the price of the items. I knew it could be priced higher.. Well I bet you money that she sold it for ALOT more .. That just does't happen so fast. And then she sends me a check for the items that sold but no transaction of what my check amount was comprised of. Don't go to this consignment shop. Owner Renn Plsek who makes all decisions is not true to her word. I've had great experiences with other San Diego consignment shops and she's the exception to the norm. Others are very professional, collaborative and friendly. We had a verbal agreement over riding the written agreement on a few items that she sold for 50% less than what we agreed upon. She reneged on keeping the verbally set price for 30 days. These weren't high ticket items but it shows you the character of her business practices. read more

BEWARE, do NOT shop here and especially DO NOT bring your clothes to consign here! They also STOLE my clothes, just as they've done to many others. I brought in four large bags of trendy name brand clothes and specifically asked them not to donate what they didn't take as I knew I could sell them on Poshmark or consign at other stores. The lady working there told me that she would be done going through the bags by the following Tuesday and that I could come pick them up then. I let her I wouldn't be able to make it till Wednesday and she said that was fine. On Wednesday afternoon I came to pick up the clothes, and after waiting five minutes while the same woman employee had a personal conversation with someone, she looked at me and said, "Yes? Can I help you?" I let her know I was there to pick up my clothes/shoes/handbags, to which she very coldly said, "Oh they've all been donated. You were supposed to come yesterday, so we donated everything." and then she handed me a tax form. I stood there in shock, as I was never told that my items would be donated if I wasn't there by Tuesday. Even when I mentioned I couldn't be there till Wednesday, she still didn't let me know that a risk of donation was possible. When I looked down at my form in her hands to see where I had checked "do not donate," I saw she had written "donated, ha ha" with a smiley face. Very unprofessional. I calmly asked why she had written that and pointed to the writing and she fumbled her words saying how those are just her own notes and then she shoved the paper away. Another sweet customer came to my defense and the employee became even more rude and condescending, saying how they have policies and this is just how it goes....and on and on and on. Not only are all my clothes gone, but there was no compassion or kindness from her on having made such a big mistake. Never once did she apologize, instead she was rude, snobby and incredibly condescending. I have contacted the BBB and will be working with them on this issue, and my husband is also talking with an attorney as well, as it seems this is a trending experience at this business, and it's unacceptable. read more

I went to the Double Take in Encinitas a couple of weeks ago and found a lot of good stuff so I made sure to pay the Solana Beach location a visit. They have a lot of designer clothing like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin etc. They also have middle of the road brands like Lilly Pulitzer, Tory Burch, Vince, Rag & Bone, Free People. The store is neatly organized and easy to comb through. I didn't find anything for myself this time around however they did have a cute Lilly Pulitzer dress on clearance that I bought for my sister. Great store, I'll try to come back every now and then when their inventory changes. read more

I've been here a few times and can't seem to figure out how they get such low reviews. I found the clothes to be good quality, and pretty good prices for consignment. I got some better prices throughout the day at other spots, but this store is more organized and are still much better than retail. I scored with two brand new designer pairs of jeans for just over $100 today... I find this place to be friendly, unlike other reviewers. Not overly so - (no offers to start a dressing room/etc.), but enough that I'll be back. They didn't follow me around the store implying that I was stealing as others have commented on. I'll be back again, and hope that eventually they sort the store less by color and more by size as I believe that's why other reviewers mention it takes all day to sort through parts of the store. read more

I've been in many times and have not found anything for myself. I don't buy brands like Gucci, etc. but look for brands that are high quality. I'm also not a small person or young either but love classic clothing and great fabrics. Definitely a store full of small clothes that are kind of out of date. The preowned Lululemon and the shoes they sell are pretty worn out. I would suggest taking in some items for a more diverse clientele unless you're doing so well you don't need us older folks who have money to spend! read more

Do NOT waste your time at this place. Overpriced and extraordinarily dull. The clothes definitely have recognizable brands - joie, James Pearse, Theory, occasional missoni - definitely filled with feragamos too slender for any modern woman to fit. But the prices on these worn out, never *really* in-style designs/rags are priced higher than a solid Saks, Neiman's, Bloomingdale's sale. It's laughable. BODY SHAMING CASHIER + overpriced. I walked in today and the woman working the counter showed me to the Free People section, and then looked at me and said "and the Larges are in the back." I was astounded. It was such an unnecessary comment on my body and my size. It's never okay for ANYONE to make random remarks about other people's appearances, and weight is especially sensitive for women. I felt so hurt and uncomfortable today. Selfishly, I debated whether or not to rate this place because I want to keep it as my little secret! ha! Though I went here in the middle of a week, it felt like a Saturday with long lines at the dressing room. The reason why? I was in there trying on about 50 articles of clothing (ranging from the most comfy jeans my legs have ever experienced to the crazy shirt I was "just going to try on for fun"...now my new favorite item in my closet). Don't go here unless you have a full day to spend or at least a couple of hours. I had so much fun digging and making my way around the store. I love how it's organized. Designer racks are separate for the convenience of those shoppers wanting to be a tad more thrifty. Everything is organized by color. My mission on this shopping trip was to add a little color to my closet (black, white and gray dominate it up until this point) and I was wildly successful. The shoes line the perimeter of the store, so if you are going there for footwear, you will be taken on a tour of the entire store. You can definitely spend a lot of money here, but it is well worth it for what you get. I was guilty of spending about $200, but got a pair of earrings, two pairs of designer jeans, one pair of capris, four shirts, and two jackets(!!). The ladies working were so accommodating and immediately helped lighten my load by taking my "yes", "no way" and "maybe" items back and forth from my arms to the dressing room to the check-out counter. The best part was during my checking out when I had second thoughts about a shirt I was in the process of purchasing. I was on the fence and was really torn. The woman behind the counter advised me that I shouldn't get it if I wasn't in love with it. She was right. I would have definitely suffered some buyer's remorse when I got home. I really appreciated that honesty - it's good to know that if you're shopping solo, the ladies working there will be your best shopping buddy:) Wish I could come back every day since the inventory changes so often, but I have definitely changed the way I shop. Great place with well curated items at great prices. We came in on Sunday 5.27.19 and where allowed to take our time and really look at every single item. The sales associate (she said she was new) was politely and check on our needs appropriately. There was a shopper in the store that was very challenging and demanded the associates time and attention far beyond what was reasonable. She seemed to need a lot of attention and affirmation because she frequently engaged with the other shoppers-whether we wanted to talk with her or not. Tiny little bug of a woman, annoying. I'm not sure what her deal was, but she made me very nervous. I felt like she was up to something shady. The associate was ABOVE and BEYOND gracious and patient with her. Well done. read more

Out of all the locations I would say this one is great but still my least favorite. Price wise, it's the most expensive. I can buy a pair of AG or Paige for $24-32 at the other two locations but they are upwards of $60 at this one. This place may good for deals but total bs if you are consigning things to them. 1) They don't give you a itemized list for rendered goods at drop off... You have to leave it 24 hrs and come back to get the list. You have to take note before dropping off. 2) The place doesn't call you to let you know when things sell. Nor do they call you at the end of your 60 day consignment where they "donate" (who knows if they actually donate it or they simply keep it for inventory) your stuff if you don't pick it up. 3) When picking items up they make you find it in the store. So in the beginning take pics so if you don't remember what you dropped off after 60 because they don't give a sh!t. Customer service lacking at best. Do a "Double Take" for yourself if consigning items. For taking 60% of "their" sales price they don't offer jack for service. read more

The sales lady was super helpful and even took pictures out back in the sunlight so I could get a second opinion on a dress. Many more items I could have bought, I will definitely be back! read more

Bad customer service and their prices are too high!!!! Plus L@@K at their FB it's a spotlight of exactly the kind of snobs they ARE! My experience went like this: I walked in & saw the purse section and said to the manager " oh my the prices are so higher compared to other stores which btw have better quality purses for better prices. Anyway, it spun around and said this to me with a very rude tone " Then perhaps you should go somewhere else". I had to chuckle to myself and turn away thinking, she didn't just say that did she? I personally felt there was nothing wrong in just stating the prices were far more expensive considering this is FACT! This is the manager with blonde short hair that looks like a boy. anyway it was Not Attractive nor professional at this point to be acting that way. So, as I continued to shop and brushed that off I thought Id strike up a conversation with the same person & asked her so are you the "owner"? She said no I'm the manager (which btw is how I found out). I then said hmm okay so why are you taking this so personal and thought WOW, whattttttttttt lol? Her comment was the owner would of responded the same way. Lol, Okay REALLY... so now I'm thinking what planet do these 2 people come from, and are they litearlly just "clueless to customer service? Meanwhile I'm thinking =/ so your not the owner and yet you and the owner talk to your customers like that and think it's ok? I said ummmmm YOUR floor why is there a hole in it and why hasn't it been FIXED? I WALKED out at that point & was mind blown by whole experience. After telling several of my friends about this 100% of them have told me I should of filed a lawsuit, but instead I went to the CITY and filed a report against these crazy people who call themselves a business. ! Unfortunately I have to rate the store with a less than one star- The women who own this place seem to think they are above everyone else. First of all every time I walk into the store you can hear them bickering and complaining about other businesses in the area and how she does such a better job than other double takes in the area. Not to mention how they brag about their wealthy husbands and or how they believe they have more money and therefore are better than everyone else. Today unfortunately I experienced this after I went to buy a dress that had no tag on it, I offered to buy it for $50? it was a designer Parker dress so I thought it was a fair price. She refused to sell it to me, and told me it was $65 instead. I turned around to find a price tag on the floor -it was the tag to the dress for $50 that had fallen off and she still would not sell the dress to me. She still claims that the tag belonged to another item even though it said Parker $50 on the tag found on the floor at my feet in front of the register. Wow! I just walked out! She always gives me dirty looks and absolutely despises that I spend money in her store, but I'm not that of the rich community she would prefer to sell to. I feel as if this woman chooses her relationships in this community and her shoppers to discriminate. I feel sad for her and I hope that she finds what she's looking for. I will gladly spend money elsewhere! And now looking at the reviews above I see that I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Unfortunately- I like the store, not the attitude! Thinking I might take some of my nicer, newer (with tags on) clothing and accessory items to a consignment store instead of selling on Ebay, I bring my items to DT, they say leave them and we'll call you when the owner comes in to check them into the store. Now I see why they were so eager to just have me drop them off! I called them three weeks later inquiring as to why I haven't heard which items they inventoried and how many were sold... etc.. "Oh you don't have anything here and we just donated ALL of your items because we couldn't sell any of them." Really? Just like that? I'm out at least a couple hundred bucks B/C supposedly they couldn't sell them?! How am I to believe that line? My items were not unlike anything else in that store for sale and in the same if not better condition!! What's to keep them from selling my stuff Or just trucking them off to their other stores??? All I'm left with was them saying to me three weeks later.. sorry we threw your clothes away! I was told that they get way too many people dropping clothes off to call each and every person-- really? How many cosigners could they possibly have? They aren't Nordstroms- hell, even if they were... Nordies calls their millions of suppliers. It's call keeping good business practices. Really? As far as shopping there, they have nice clothes but it can be a bit pricey, depending on your taste. My review is for the consignment side...I personally believe it is a shady system...or perhaps the woman running it is dishonest. It was my first experience dropping off clothes there & I happen to be out of the country when my 60 days were up. When I came in to inquire, she said a few things sold & she donated everything else. Shopped here twice was an average experience. Good selection. Dropped off about 16 brand new to good condition items - including Gucci slides, theory dress, j crew dresses and an entry level line Versace dress - barely worn and other various things. I ran in 15 min before close on a Tuesday. Manager was on the phone (turned out talking to the owner). She never got off the phone, but did take the items and said I would hear back by Thursday 6/28 (2 days later) about what they would keep or return. I had understood via email - which was left on the consignment paper. Call back today 7/3 to inquire because I have not heard back and Sue, the manager, answers the phone - states I would never receive an email, I would never receive a call -- But it is my responsibility to reach out to them as it "clearly states" on the paper given at drop off - remember she was on the phone the entire time of my going through the drop off process as a first timer. At this point in our phone conversation she is wondering when I dropped off, can't get my name right and appears to have no memory of the experience. She then "finds" it and tells me everything is in the bag to be picked up. Seriously?! I was an executive in the fashion industry - this is not my first time dropping off at a consignment store. I did not expect everything to be taken - but nothing - AND no response and then she harassed me about when I am picking up!? Don't bother giving them your business - I clearly won't be giving mine there anymore. There is value in being pleasant and present. They are lucky they have a great location because they aren't staying in business because of customer service oriented attitudes! read more

I showed up on the day they told me to be there to pick up my bags, which is 30 minutes away for me, and when I arrive they say they haven't looked at it yet. They have my number, they could have called...They said to call in another few days to see if it was ready, so I did, and they told me they had given all 3 bags away to the donation service because I hadn't picked up. I gave several GIANT bags of high end clothes(lots of Free People/Nordstroms some still with tags on it) and she said she was not able to sell anything after 2 months but yet had nothing left for me to pick up to take back. If I could I would give the ladies who run this store 10 stars I would ! Not only do they carry some of the best consignment I ever seen with more than reasonable pricing but their customer service is amazing. I live in the Bay Area and always come into the store when I visit (my favorite store in North County). Typically they do not ship items for customers however in my case due to some non-related unfortunate issues they were willing to go out of their way to ship me a sweater and even waived the $13.95 shipping fee. Honestly who does that ?! :) I cant recommend this store enough. Thank you ladies! read more

Stopped in here the day of my husbands military ball to get a dress to wear (was NOT planning ahead), had tried a couple other stores first and hadn't found anything (including the encinitas location). The selection was amazing, I found a few dresses to try on. The wonderful saleswomen at the store was so helpful - it was like shopping with a friend and was really honest with me when deciding on two dresses and really spent some time with me! The dress and a new pair of earings to match were less than 50 and I got TONS of compliments on it all night! I can't wait to go back for some more shopping !!! read more
