I love this company! I have shopped here for a few years and always receive the best customer service. The girls in the shop are lovely and professional- they just let you shop in peace and don't pressure you to buy or try anything on, which I think is a beautiful thing. Whenever I have a question and I reach out through Instagram I always get a response back within a few hours. Recently (during quarantine) I purchased a shirt for my mom for Mother's Day weekend & was scheduled fo pick it up, but missed the hours for pick up. The associate, Julia, reached out to me and offered to have it delivered to me all through text. It was awesome and so helpful during unpredictable times and was very helpful with my concerns for the item to arrive on time. Well it's only Wednesday and I have already received my package. I love this store so much and pretty much only shop here. You can find everything from basics to special pieces and there's a mix of price points so there's something for everyone. I shopped there today, I was the only person at the store close to closing. Two young girls working at the counter didn't look up or even smile to greet me as the only customer in the store. They were both loudly talking about partying and their personal lives, I felt as if I was intruding. The kicker was Both we're not wearing masks! When the dark haired one approached me I told her to put on a mask if she was going to be near me, which she had to rummage around in the back to find. The blond one with the long straight hair didn't bother to put on her mask at all and was particularly unfriendly. The only time she acknowledged my existence was when she told me sale items are final sale. Rude and unprofessional service and defying the state mandated order for wearing masks indoors. read more

So this store has some cute merchandise. It's pricey but that isn't the problem. The problem is the employees. Today is Saturday about 6pm the 13th of January I've been in this store a handful of times and I've dropped a lot of money here, yet the sales associates have the biggest attitude and are not helpful and just plain rude. This isn't the first time I've experienced this behavior from the employees. On a separate occasion there were 5 associates screaming and laughing at the register and saying inappropriate things while I was in the dressing room wanting to try another size, but no one came to help. In fact no one ever offered to help me from the time I first walked into the store to the time I walked out. EMPTY HANDED. I thought I would give the store one more chance. I walked in this evening, and was the only one in the store. Two girls at the register didn't acknowledge me and both of them were on their cell phones. Never to ask once if I needed any help. Seriously?! I'm a doctor and I came in to spend money and was treated like dirt. I won't be coming back here And if I were the manager/ owner I would take a good hard look at who's representing your business. As a business owner myself, I would fire anyone who treated customers this way. You can have a cute store with a nice concept but when your employees are driving customers away by their stuck up demeanor, then your business won't survive. Seriously girls get it together. You work at a clothing store and the main job description is customer service! A simple hello and how can I help you would suffice. Good luck in the real world read more

Even though I live a walking distance away from this clothing boutique, it took me a while to go there to shop. What can I say? Life gets that busy sometimes! But I'm glad I took the time to stroll down the hill to check it out. I "pre-shopped" at shopvandevort.com, so I walked into the store with a few selections in mind. First impression: such a cute shop with trendy and unique items! The list of items that I had in mind quickly grew, and the problem became a matter of having to edit all the things that I wanted to buy after perusing through the store's offerings. I like the fact that there are clothes for every budget, so you can leave the store happy without feeling the sticker shock. A smart move on their part. I'm definitely a fan. The "looks" put together by the owner opened up my fashion sense and encouraged me to consider new style options. Really cute store - if you're a teen/in your 20s and have money to shop. This store sure is expensive, but they do have THE CUTEST stuff. If you're a Coachella fan or love the cute and trendy pieces worn at the festival this is the store for you. They have really cute tops, bottoms and super adorbs sunglasses an accessories. I am SO happy I made the drive because this is hands down the best boutique i've EVER been to! 5 stars for the clothes but a 2 overall because of my service while checking out. Van de Vort has really cute clothes and carries a lot of trendy and LA based brands, but the employee I was working with was rude when I was checking out. I bought a couple $200+ outfits and was hesitant on one of the tops I was looking at. When I was trying to decide if I wanted it or not, the sales girl said to me "it sells itself," it was a For Love and Lemons top, and then proceeded to say "if you don't want it, it just tells me you don't have the money." If I wasn't already checked out with the items I already purchased, I wouldn't have bought a single thing from this sales girl and would have gone ahead and ordered it from a competitors site who wouldn't make comments like that to me. Obviously I wasn't in love with the top and I didn't buy it, you don't have to be rude and try to pressure me into something I wasn't dying over to have. I would rather spend my money somewhere where they don't make disrespectful comments to their customers. read more

My all time favorite store! Andrea, the owner is one of the sweetest, most helpful boutique owners ever! She is so thoughtful and always sends me pics of items she thinks I would love! The pricing is more than fair and in fact most stores carrying the same lines are more expensive! I love how she mixes less expensive items in with brand name pieces and makes it all look so great! Her JC show selection is out of this world and I am in love with all the local jewelry and handbags she carries! Wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!! I thought I died and went to boutique heaven when I stumbled across this adorable shop! I found it searching online for a pair of Novella Royale fancy pants, as my husband calls them, and found them at this boutique's online store. When I realized they were close to me I got on the phone and called them to hold the item. It turned out they were closing in half an hour, but the girls ended up staying way late while I tried on everything in the store, okay that's an exaggeration but only a little bit! I want to start off on a semi-positive note... This boutique has a great concept and variety of clothes. Being someone who has worked in retail and is a shopaholic, I believe this specialty boutique does a great job of portraying a certain atmosphere and aesthetic. Being said, I understand that being a specialty boutique also means that there is limited sizing and quantities with most items. Visually, I am a picky person, so it would've been nice to see items a bit more organized while being folded and hung properly. On to customer service... I recommend you get rid of whomever you currently have working for you or give them a stern talking to get them to understand what it actually means to work in retail. Your business will not strive and you will not be able make money if your associates are standing around, gossiping and are on their phones while you have clients in the store. I managed to walk the entire store twice before an associate offered up any sort of assistance... But it's upon walking in that was most concerning... both associates (a girl with long blonde hair put up and wearing glasses and another girl with medium length brown hair, both looked fairly young) were collectively standing behind the counter/register, carrying on with whatever conversation they found was more important than tending to the potential clients in the store (me and two other women) and doing what I assume they were hired to do. Also, as I left the dressing room after have trying a couple of pieces on (one of which was fairly damaged), the brunette girl found herself indulged on her cell phone. This sort of an unfriendly and hostile environment will only negatively affect the store. Obviously this is not my store, nor is it my place to say how it should be ran. But coming from someone with a substantial long and successful career working in both corporate retail and working in independently owned boutiques (along with other fields of the fashion industry) and if i were to be caught doing any of those things and neglecting to care about the best interest of the customer and store, let's just say that would've been my last day at that establishment. I hope next time I come back (if I even do come back), the customer service will be take a turn for the better. read more

They have every brand that I love and the best pieces at high and low price points. I always have the most amazing shopping experience! What can I say? The little lady that owns Van De Vort is the most conscientious, lovely and stylish boutique owner I can imagine. I have worked in fashion and a number of jobs in my life, and I can honestly say she goes above and beyond most to accommodate and personalize your shopping experience. I really cannot say enough good things about her - I moved across country and she still sends photos and emails of sales and pieces that I would love (who remembers that kind of stuff?!) Did I mention how nice she is?! There was a huge need for a store carrying the local and indie brands of the caliber which she carries in San Diego, and you don't have to go to LA anymore to find them! I am so sad she didn't receive all 5 star reviews; I can't imagine her being anything less than kind and super helpful. If you request certain items, she will notify you when they arrive even. Normally, I am the kind of shopper that goes in for one thing and comes out feeling iffy about my purchase . I had a much difference experience when I shopped at Van De Vort. It was personal, fun and I love everything I've purchased from this store! They carry some of my favorite designers like Wonderland Honolulu, Wildfox, Jessica Matrasko, Vanessa Mooney and Lovely Bird and also have a huge selection of brands I didn't know about...with a wide range of price points. The owner is extremely fashion savvy and picked things out for me that I didn't know I could pull off. One of the things she picked out was a Mink Pink dress that swooped low on the sides. I ended up loving the way it looked and never would have tried it on my own. All of the girls that work there are friendly, knowledgeable and dress super cute. Literally the worst customer service. Every time I'm on the phone with them they're incredibly curt. I wanted to return a pricey item, and had to "apply" for the return. They charged me for the shipping and sent me an undeliverable address, so now my package is no where to be found. Never shopping here again. Would not recommend.
