This place is amazing. I'm not sure I will ever shop anywhere else for my girlfriend. I do wish they had men's clothing still but that does not detract whatsoever from me shopping there. The staff are really helpful- Showing me options, building outfits, etc. The best is that they actually ask about my girlfriend to get a feel for her style before they start recommending things. WHOA! sticker shock. I guess i had no idea what I was walking into. I turned wrong into the Flowerhill area and got frustrated with the stupid traffic, and saw Mattie D remembered hearing of the boutique, and liked the sign. $300, $400 wow. some cute items, but not quite sure why they were this expensive. Its like i can go here get some inspiration and then come back to reality and spend 1-10% of $500!!! One star cuz "Eek! Methinks not." Meh. I love shopping.. I seek out vintage stores, boutiques, gigantic malls no matter where I go.. I could be in a foreign country and if I see an H&M I have to check it out just in case they have something different than the American stores.. I LOVE shopping!! Some say I may have an addiction. I actually read about this store and put it in my memory bank of stores to try out.. I didn't realize it was next to one of the Coffee Bean's I frequent when heading north.. I was super happy when I made the connection and convinced my 4 other friends to come inside. The minute we walked in the ladies at the registered let us know they were closing in 5 minutes. Ok, I've worked in retail before, it's bad manners to let customers know that you are closing in 5 minutes. I mean the door was unlocked which allows customers to continue walking in and should until they actually close. I nodded but was almost disgusted they did that. I mean it's a boutique, I'm sure they wouldn't mind making some extra money right? We had all stopped into Coffee Bean right before and had coffee's. They don't allow food/drinks or even your cell phone while in the store (they have a tray to put all items on). Food/drinks I can understand but a cell phone?! Fine. I'm sure it has something to do with the shopping ambiance.. I literally felt bad walking around the store. Bad that I was in there and they were about to close and just bad in general as if I was keeping them from something. Maybe they don't work on commission and could care less. Just wasn't a comfortable shopping experience. The clothing itself was amazing.. some really cute stuff but note that it isn't cheap. But if you're looking to find the perfect Birthday dress that has a unique flair, this is a boutique to check out. In the extra 7 minutes they stayed open (Yes, we were inside for 12 minutes total), my friends managed to spend about $600 combined. Bet they were more happy we spent the money when they had to stay open for those few precious minutes. The staff did get nicer as my friends were paying for their items.. Just wish it didn't leave an overall bad taste in my mouth for customer service. read more

Matti D is the outfitter for Rancho Santa Fe milfs. Given, the clothes here are amazing. They carry some really beautiful, quality-crafted stuff. However, in most cases, quality costs quantity. Prices are exorbitant, which might be OK for those RSF ladies, but not OK for the young girls whom these clothes are actually designed for in the first place. They also have a little bit of an uppity vibe. Whenever I go in there with my mom, they are always super nice, but sometimes I go by myself just to look and they give me a once-over and aren't too friendly. To hip for my blood. So many different styles at this store. Also, they carry designer so read: expensive. But its just too hip for me. But its in a weird location. A strip mall complete with Albertsons, McDonalds and a paint store. Mattii D is next to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I stopped in on my way out of getting an iced mocha. Matti D is a first class high end boutique that carries high fashion :) so if you can't afford it you shouldn't blame them and write bad reviews because you are just bitter and most likely cheap. The staff is always lovely and I have never felt pressured or awkward when I don't buy anything. During a girls weekend my sister and I visited Matti d's. I was looking for a few dresses to wear to special events this summer (wedding and rehearsal dinner). I had looked at all the major dept. stores and was very discouraged. I picked up one dress, decided to try it on and we were off. Jax helped me style it with shoes, etc. and it was perfect. One down. She next picked up an amazing retro purple (!) dress with pleats and bell sleeves. It was perfect!! In fact, my sister said it was the most beautiful and flattering dress she had ever seen me wear. I would not return to this clothing store. I went to the store to buy a pair of jeans for an upcoming vacation I had. I selected several pairs in my size and went to try them on. All of the dressing rooms were locked, and there was not an attendant around. I went to find an employee and finally tracked one down. When I inquired about the dressing rooms, she rudely told me that it was not her responsibility to open them and that the employee responsible was on a break. At this point, I asked if someone covered the other employee on break. She seemed unwilling to answer this basic question. At this point, I handed her the clothes and left. read more

They worked with me to get an outfit together for her and were very patient with me. The Clothing designs were like nothing else i have ever seen in San Diego. With my travel schedule, I target independent boutiques in cities versus the traditional franchises. The items (high-end) are fantastic, unique but pricey. I walked away spending $500 on a laptop bag (Gillian Julius) and a silk blouse (which was pre-paid and ordered). The blouse arrived in Texas as expected. My laptop bag broke and I was not happy with the store referring me to the designer (who was traveling in Europe for shows). Be aware of your purchased items and any defects it may have!! I do not live in California so troubleshooting issues is a problem. Another online shop that sells the Gillian Julius products immediately responded to my issue. So, I will be shopping there (www.shopantonia.com). All-in-all, beautiful pieces. Not good at troubleshooting issues with defective materials. read more

I have to say that, hands down, Matti D is the best shopping experience I've ever encountered! I came in looking for a dress for a last minute trip to Vegas. I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Marie who pulled some unbelievable outfits for me to try on. One of her sales associates pulled shoes and accessories to go with my outfits. As a former shop stylist for Kate Spade and a harsh critic I can wholesomely say that the customer service offered at Matti D is beyond exceptional. The small staff was personable and able to advise me without being over bearing, a difficult balance for most retail stores. If your looking for A-list shopping or a hint of inspiration in the Del Mar area make sure you stop by! I highly suggest seeking an opinion from one of the stores newest associates, Raid Ripp, her styling expertise is as magnificent as her name!
