I'm a huge fan of diner food so when I can get to a diner I go! Double T is really a hit or a miss for me depending on what you order (and which location you go to). This one I've been to a couple of times and while the service isn't the best it could be its ok. The last time I went I felt like my waitress was an aunt as there was a lot of "sweeties" and "honeys" being thrown around lol. Their portions are HUGE so be sure you go in hungry or be prepared to take some home with you. The menu is pretty extensive and ranges from salads to pancakes to meatloaf so anything you have a craving for they will be able to satisfy! I've had a couple of their salads and a burger and haven't been disappointed. Next time I'll have to try something from their dessert case, it all looks delicious and is just staring at you as you walk out the door. My last visit I made the mistake of going on a Sunday after church and the line for a table was practically out the door. Do NOT go here. They charge 15% extra after 10pm but don't tell you. Manager didn't give a crap. Service was barely existent. The waitress came over initially but since we needed a minute to look over the menu she said she'd be back in a couple minutes. Maybe 10 minutes later she reappeared. She took our order which consider of two bowls of crab soup, a salad for my wife and some onion rings, plus a panini sandwich for me. It didn't take too long for food to come out but she brought two CUPS of soup and when we said it was supposed to be bowls, she said there wasn't enough to make bowls. Would have been nice if she told us before bringing it out so we could accept or change the order. We wanted crab soup so we took it only to find it maybe around 100F if that. We had to send it back to be microwaved to warm it up. When the rest of the food arrived, it was ok. Got Cajun fries instead of regular and they were really good. Waitress didn't clear empty soup dishes from our table even when she delivered the food. Also, only count on one fill of your glass. She never came back, never filled glasses. Even after our meal was done, we waited nearly 15 minutes before we got our check and that was only because I finally caught her eye and asked. So, back to the extra 15%. Apparently that's a built in tip fee. Tips are NOT mandatory. Sorry, but it's gratuity for good service. If we feel the Service is substandard or worse, it's OUR prerogative to tip, or not, as an expression of our gratitude for the service. My guess would be that the late night staff sucks so bad that not many people would tip so they try to force you to pay. I question the legality of this. While we did actually leave a more than reasonable tip on the table (a few pennies short of 15%), when we got to the register and paid the actual bill, the manager stopped us and demanded more. EXCUSE ME?!? I told her we left a tip on the table but she get testy and wouldn't drop it. So my wife went back to the table to retrieve the tip and gave it to the manager who then gave us dirty looks and complained that there's tax on the food (duh, what's that got to do with anything) and that the employees have to pay for their food (again, what's that got to do with anything). She was merely making excuses for bad policy and even worse customer service. We will never return. read more

This place suckssssssssssss! Got the double t breakfast and the bacon was obviously microwaved and the eggs seemed warmed up as well. I got them scrambled with cheese and they literally took cold eggs, put them in the microwave and slapped kraft American slices on top. Double T Diner may look like a classic diner but is actually just another generic, Greek-owned restaurant. Everything under the sun is on the menu but nothing is special. I always tell people that I bring here that we come for the food and not the service - and even the food is just ok... The service at Double T is notoriously bad, and you never know if your server is on drugs or just doesn't care about their job - but they are open 24 hours, which makes it a constant on my list of eateries. I've been to "diners" of all kinds all over the U.S. decorated in all kinds of ways. In that sense, I have tried a lot of diner style food at all kinds of places professing to be a dinner. I do not begrudge the Double T the right to call itself a diner. It's food is absolutely diner food along with the ubiquitous Greek and Italian add ons. Is it mind blowing, no. Is it bad? No. Does it look like a classic diner? Sure. But, there it ends. My problem with the Double T, and what has kept me away for a decade now, is the management and the tip policy. If you have the bad luck to dine there during specific hours (that they choose), they charge you a tip automatically. This is, of course, totally wrong. To make matters worse, if you are not aware of this and leave a tip then pay and see that, you have been forcibly removed of more of your money, they won't do a thing. Sorry, and point to a lousy little paper sign on the counter nobody can see. Instead, they say nothing can be done and, if you protest "I just left a tip on the table!", a couple of thug like meatballs emerge to stand by the counter and intimidate you. I can say, I have never had such a bad experience as a customer at a diner or any restaurant, as I had at Double T. The name seems to stand for "Double Tip". Avoid it, unless you like money snatched from you for bogus reasons. read more

Ive been here alot through out the years but havent been in a while until yesterday. Normal diner food. Ample parking. I normally used to come on a late night after drinking. Yesterday i came for lunch. Service was great. Had the seafood bisque which was good. I also had a salad with grilled chicken, tomatoes, avacado, onions and crutons with ranch. It was cool. My boyfriend had a burger which he said was really good and my daughter had a grilled cheese. This place is hit or miss. This was hands down the worst restaurant food I ever had in my life. I ordered the fish and chips which came with a very salty cream of crab soup (still ok). The fish itself was good quality fish (not minced stuff) but it came in the thickest layer of batter I have ever seen (maybe 50/50 batter to fish ratio). The fish itself was cooked but cold inside. The fries were stale and cold. It was really nasty. I said something to the waitress who was nice about it and asked me if I wanted something else, which I declined. Tried the cannoli cake, but it was awful. The frosting on top was dried out. So, maybe it'd been sitting around for awhile? My friends and I went here late on a Saturday night. We were a party of 5 and the host said they didn't have any tables big enough to accommodate our party and he asked if the booth for 4 was ok. We said fine but when we sat down, we were squished so we asked to move to one of the many available square tables of 4. We did this and just pulled up an extra chair. As soon as we sat down, a lady at a booth near us got our attention and informed us that a table of 5 white teenagers was just seated and they had 2 square tables of 4 moved together for them. There were many of these tables available and they should've done the same for us, but 4 out of the 5 people in our party were Black. We promptly got up to leave and when we went to inform the man at the host stand of our dissatisfaction, he was unapologetic and claimed the booth we were squished into could comfortably accommodate 6 (even though the host who originally sat us acknowledged that the booth would be too small for our party of 5). I never know how to feel about this place. The food is OKAY, and I really mean that. I mean it honestly tastes like the food that I cook at home on a weeknight when I don't have much time. I've never been like, "YUM!! THIS IS SO GOOD" about anything here, but it's never been bad either. Perhaps I should just go to a diner just for breakfast, but their menu is huge! So my friend and I met at Double T last week for a late dinner. I got the Crab balls with Baked Macaroni and Cheese. It came with soup and salad. I ordered the broccoli cheese soup, but he came back and told me they were out of that, so I got the chicken noodle. The soup was pretty good. This time, the noodle was bowtie pasta, they're always changing it up. The salad is your typical iceberg with a few other salad veggies. It's not bad for what it is. And then I go my meal. Let me start by saying I love mac and cheese. I LOVE mac and cheese. I love all kinds of mac and cheese. I will never say no to mac ad cheese. This mac and cheese was inedible. It didn't look baked to me. It had a weird aftertaste, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a week. The macaroni was overcooked. It was bland. I don't even know. It was terrible. I was so sad. Because I love mac and cheese. The crab balls, 2 large crab cakes, were pretty good. I enjoyed them. The service was decent. But I've noticed the service is very hit or miss. I'm still sad over the mac and cheese. It was so terrible. They shouldn't do that to mac and cheese. Oh! but they did have pickled beets as a side dish. Those were pretty good, too. The first time my partner took me here and I saw the menu, the first thing I thought was 'Oooooh, Gordon Ramsay would hate the hell out of these menus' (pictures everywhere, millions of options). The servers are always so nice and attentive. The lady with short, blonde hair (I think she manages/ co-owns) is my favorite. She is super sweet and made some awesome recommendations when I was feeling fat and wanted cake (say that in a deep voice - yeah, that's how fat I was feeling that day)! I approve of this place. The sheer amount of food options that are available at this restaurant are outstanding. I don't come here as often as I should, and as this restaurant is located at least an hour away from where I live, it's worth the drive. This is my favorite diner in Maryland. The food is delicious, classic and affordable, the service is good, and has a close enough proximity to downtown Baltimore that you can make a day out of it. It's also open 24/7. I wish there were more late-night options in the county, but when we are out late and want something to eat we always head to the Double T Diner in Catonsville. The food is not stellar, but the menu is extensive and so are the portions. Our party ordered from every single section, some getting breakfast items, some sandwiches, some just dessert. The last time I was there I ordered the pancakes with apples, raisins, and cinnamon, and received three huge pancakes folded over hot cooked apples in a cinnamon sauce. It was very tasty, but so big I had a hard time finishing. As I said, the food is average, but I give them an extra star for their hours and menu size. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE Me and my family are touring Baltimore and decide to go into this diner for breakfast. After waiting for 5 minutes, we were lead to a table. After sitting for 20 minutes, we were never served. We sat and waited waving to many waitresses and all seemed to purposely ignore us. We could not wait any longer so we walked out, stopping at the bakery section. The woman who was serving us was very rude and took ten minutes to grab a eclair. If there was a way to prevent any business at this location, I would. My first experience at this diner which was a few weeks ago, was absolutely awful due to extremely poor service but I decided to give this diner another chance. BIG MISTAKE! Today, I took a Starbucks coffee in with me and immediately was accosted by a man at the front register who specifically said in a blunt manner "you either need to finish that or leave". He says it again after I asked if he was kidding. Not only did he speak to me in a very arrogant and disrespectful manner, but he did it in front of many customers. I tried finding a corporate number but unfortunately it seems to be individually owned so they apparently can treat customers however they want and don't have to be held accountable for their unacceptable behavior. I've been coming here for over 30 years and the food is, well, still the same. I still love the atmosphere.. The constant coffee refills and I've literally known some of the servers for longer than my husband. That said, the menu hasn't evolved at all and needs some refreshing.
