I'm happy to have found this shop! I was looking for a specific cupcake - "cookies and cream" for a custom Star Wars bday dessert. Upon arriving, I noticed the dessert shop was within a cafe which was well decorated and cozy. I came in on a weekday afternoon, it wasn't too busy. They also provide a lot of cute last minute party favors and accessories - it definitely came in handy as I needed candles and some matches! Overall, we enjoyed the texture and sweetness of the cupcake.
First off, beautiful ambiance to sit down in and friendly staff. Hadn't been here for about 3yrs. so I was shocked with the price changes in cupcakes. I remember the mini cupcakes were a dollar less each. I was bummed out to see that the Fleur de Sel no longer contains himalayan pink salt but regular salt dyed pink. I think what sealed the deal was that it wasn't moist or that is wasn't rich in anyway. Seems like Betty Crocker in my opinion. The carrot mini cupcake was good but not anything I'd think to recommend though. All others don't seem so fresh.
This reveal is exclusively for the cupcakes. Parking is OK as the parking lot is usually busy, but you will not find any issues in the residential area. I am typically very picky about cupcakes and it was a very bummed out that sprinkles closed. I have tasted other cupcakes in the past and dots cupcakes actually hits the spot. They have a daily rotation of special selections as well as a standard flavor selection. I tried it out the Velvet, tiramisu, and coconut cupcakes. They are actually really good, and the quality and ratio between the frosting and cupcake itself was on point. The pricing is fair, considering the quality of the cupcakes. I called them on the phone ahead of time to verify inventory and the service was actually really good. The store is separated by two different lines one for the café and the other for the cupcakes. Make sure you line up in the right line for the best service. I will definitely return.
This charming bakery in Pasadena specializes in both mini and standard-sized cupcakes, and trust me, you won't be able to resist their delectable treats. Customer Service 5/5 's As soon as you step inside, you'll be greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly baked cupcakes and excellent customer service. Cupcake Ratings: 5/5 's Each cupcake is baked to perfection, giving the perfect balance of moistness, flavor, and sweetness. My personal favorite were the Red Velvet and Carrot Cake Public parking and a great plus they validate for up to 30 mins so your parking will be free. Overall feel is warm and inviting and they have a small area of you want to eat there The decor is beautiful and you can enjoy your treats inside or take them to go.
I have been a Dots customer for years and maybe this review is long overdue . I love everything about this small business , from the customer services and their above and beyond care mentality. The cupcakes are always a huge hit at all my events , parties and gatherings. Whether I choose to go with a large or mini cupcake selection the sugar is never overpowering on either size and they use just the right about of frosting. The frosting might I say is fluffy/ buttery and not dense blob of sugar sitting on top. Now let's talk about the design... if you order from DoorDash, they make sure to put a little bit of every flavor, in every box, with every decor that you can possibly think of , which is a delight when the little ones open the box and see the cutest little cupcake staring back at them. If you decide to go to the store obviously, you will have a bigger selection to choose from, equally beautiful and delicious. I highly recommend Dots for your next event , cupcake craving....only just because it's pretty good and I love supporting small businesses who put a lot of care in their product to make people like me smile .
Received a dozen of the mini assorted cupcakes as a gift. They were delivered by door dash and came perfectly packaged. The box was dropped but surprisingly the cupcakes were secured and made it perfectly okay. Delicious first of all! How do you choose a cupcake when you have 12 different flavors to choose from??? Even though they were mini cupcakes they were packed with flavor!
When you walk in, you are greeted by a beautiful display case. If you dont want a regular size cupcake, they have minis for 2 bucks. The passiom fruit has passion filling and taste amazing. They close at 6 on Sundays, so its enough time to eat then treat yourself!
I've never stepped in their shop before but I often receive these cupcakes as gifts or have them at other people's birthday parties. The cupcakes are beautifully decorated and although the minis are small in size, the frosting can still be a little much if you're not too keen on sweets. My favorite flavor so far is their chocolate salted caramel but I of course have to scrape off most of the frosting to enjoy it lol
Probably the best darn cupcakes! The carrot cake WAS SOOO GOOD! It was moist, it was flavorful, it was delicious. They presentation is nice. Red velvet was delicious, rich w/ a great frosting. Definitely recommend!
I've been meaning to try this place for the longest time and I was able to this past weekend when I was in Pasadena for the Ferrai event. The store itself is tiny so when there are lines, it can get pretty crowded. I was actually pretty full and only wanted ONE cupcake but saw that there was a $5 min for credit card purchases so I bought two cupcakes ($3 each). I opted for the red velvet and macon--both which were really good. Would I come back here again? Yeah I probably would if I'm in the area again. read more

We came here for mini cupcakes and this mom and pop shop is the cutest. The owner is super sweet. I got the Oreo mini and it was delightful. Super decadent. The cake was moist and the frosting was light and fluffy and flavorful! The mini size is just perfect for a bite. read more
The cupcake quest continues...first things first..not the friendliest atmosphere here. Plus i got busted for taking pictures ..so be forewarned pictures are not allowed. I did manage a couple while the people in front of me were ordering. This store is really cute. There some cool art with cupcakes in the paintings...no surprise. The place is small with some seating to the right when you walk in. To the left is the cupcake display, its very pretty and appealing to look at. A definite plus here is that they sell mini cupcakes which is great easier to try a couple of different kinds. I ordered the following in mini: Strawberry shortcake Chocolate coconut Dulce de leche Black forest Red velvet Fleur de sel First, as others have said, their frosting is really sweet, in my opinion too sweet. It overpowers the cupcakes. All cupcakes I bought had a good texture, not dry, but in my opinion could have been a little more moist. The chocolate cupcakes (chocolate coconut and fleur de sel) could be more chocolatey but that could be because they were overpowered by the too sweet frosting. Fleur de self cupcake has a caramel swirl in top of icing that seems to have salt in it. Would be better with a sprinkle of a good fleur de sel on top. Strawberry shortcake is a yellow cake with pieces of real strawberry inside but my mini had two of the tiniest pieces ever. I would want more strawberry. Not enough strawberry flavor for me. I did like the black forest, good chocolate/cherry taste. And as for red velvet I will stick with Sprinkles. read more
My 2nd favorite cupcake place! The Chocolate Mint is AMAZING! It's a moist chocolate cake with the perfect amount of delicious minty frosting, then all topped with crunchy chocolate pieces. Mmmm!!! Now that's an after dinner mint! =) If you like nutella, then you'll love the Hazelnut Crunch cupcake. It's a vanilla cake with nutella filling, vanilla frosting, and topped with some chopped hazelnuts for a little extra crunch. Kinda rich. but really yummy. Other pretty good ones are the red velvet, strawberry shortcake, and fleur de sel. I love that this place has MINIS!!! That way you can try more flavors for less or maybe just feel a little less guilty when you're pigging out. =p The place is cute, but kinda small. There's only a small bench inside if you want to eat it there. Thankfully, the place is located in downtown pasadena so there's a couple tables and chairs behind the Il Fornaio restaurant nearby. There's also a parking garage on the same street if you're taking your treats to go. Enjoy! read more
This is a nice small cupcake shop hidden amongest the busy streets of Old Town Pasadena. They serve a variety of delicable cupcakes in regular or mini size! I've been to this location before in the past, and for the most part, I have always enjoyed their cupcakes here. You will definitely have to sample through their cupcake selection because some are better then others. My personal favorite was the apple pie one, but it has been a while since I have seen it. The cupcakes are simple, but each of them are nicely prepared and decorated with your assortment of creamy toppings. The classical red velvet here is really good, so if you don't know what to get, you can always fall back on this one. I used to able to consume their regular size cupcakes, but now the sugar overload is too much for me. I am glad that they sell minis because they taste just as good without the guility conscious afterwards. I would definintely recommend the minis to anyone interested in purchasing cupcakes here! They also sell doggy cupakes which my dog really liked, but I'm not too sure what was inside the sugary treat. Definitely give this place a try, its simplicity and sugary treats will have me coming back again in the future. Lines can get a little hectic because who can resist a small cupcake store, so expect to wait a little, but in the end it will be worth it! read more

This is my FAVORITE cupcake place! The consistency of their frosting is perfect, without being too sweet or overwhelming, and you don't get a big glob of it to take away from the taste of the actual cupcake. This thing i love about DOTs is the minis, they make minis in all the flavors unlike some other places that only do it in the major flavors. Pick up a dozen of the minis the next time you are in pasadena, i'm sure you won't be disappointed! My top: Mint Chocolate & Red Velvet!! Open more locations SOON PLEASE!!!! read more

Cupcakes are not usually my dessert of choice, but I would definitely come back to try some more flavors! I got four cupcakes (chocolate mint, chocolate coconut, chocolate vanilla, and black forest) in lieu of a birthday cake for my boyfriend last year and he was very happy with them :) read more
I love Dots. I wish I didn't, because I come here way more than I should and I always justify buying too many cupcakes by saying, "they're for sharing." It never fails that I end up eating cupcake after cupcake late at night while my husband sleeps, like some crazed sugar-fiend. The reason I love Dots is because the cake part of each cupcake is the perfect balance between light and dense. Their frostings are not overly sweet and they have a wide variety of flavors to pick from. Their passion fruit cupcake is the best thing I've ever tasted; I'd trade my first born child for a lifetime supply. I definitely recommend coming here earlier in the day, before flavors start selling out. I've rolled in right before closing a few times and there is a lot less to choose from. The service at Dots is always great. I never feel rushed when I'm being indecisive about which flavors to pick and my questions are always answered with kindness & enthusiasm. Their prices are pretty decent: $3 for a regular sized cupcake... They also have mini cupcakes available for those who want to feel less guilty about giving into temptation. The store has (a minimal amount of) other items for sale: Candles, cards, dog-friendly treats, etc... Their entire shop is really cute but also pretty small. If more than 2 groups of people are there at a time it feels almost claustrophobic inside. Credit cards are accepted and there is a parking garage directly across the street. Plenty of (paid) street parking is also available. Stop in and give Dots a try! read more

I'm not a Huge cake person in anyway because I'm somewhat of a cake snob. lol. I won't eat cupcakes from a store. Their frosting is fake and nasty so I'm all about custom cupcakes and authentic flavors and a good moist cupcake. (Also homemade too!) I got a box for my sister's 38th birthday because I'd heard such great things about Dots. They were Gorgeous & I personally had the Meyer Lemon and man it was incredible! I tried my neice's Lavendar flavored one and it was 'alright' (that's why the 4 stars based on price/quality) Obviously I wan't wearing sweats or I would have tried them all! lol I'd go again to give more flavors a try since the other guests said they were good. Perhaps the mini ones to 'semi commit.' ;) Over all good experience. read more

After hearing a friend rave about how awesome dots cupcakes were DB and I decided to give it a whirl. Friend insisted we try the red velvet. We decided on 4 (quite pricey) cupcakes. Red Velvet, Strawberry Lemonade, Pumpkin Spice and Chocolate Marble. Honestly I didn't find anything super special about them. Seemed like something I could make at home without the big price tag. The clerk wasn't very personable and gave me an exacerbated look when I asked about flavours. Interior was cute. Kept up with the cupcake theme. We haven't be back since, but maybe they deserve a second chance. I would recommend trying it out for the experience. It was unique read more

It's rare to have a cupcake that's both adorable and delicious. But you must try Dots. Cute and perfect cupcakes that's also deeeeelicious. They have tons of different flavors that come in two sizes: regular and mini. I like getting the mini cupcakes because then I can try a bunch of their flavors without pigging out on the large sizes. The shop is adorable but tiny with no seating areas. read more

Never quite understood the cupcake craze but since my friends wanted to go I decided why not. All the hype about cupcakes really let me down. I don't know what a good cupcake from these stores are supposed to taste like but mine was dry and didn't taste very spectacular. Presentation- cute until they threw it in the dinky bag with tape, no love in the handling. I've also seen better box containers. Customer service- non existent, no smiles, no eye contact, just grab money and go (for a popular store I would think they would invest more in this department; huge turn off for me). Sure there might only be 5x2 ft of space for customers but doesn't mean you can push them in and out like cattle. On a side note, cute decor. Taste-[Red Velvet] cake itself was rather dry, probably just my batch since a number of reviewers insist on it's moist feel. Frosting wasn't over sugared but also not living up to the hype. Personally overkill for me but that's just a personal preference. Price- affordable as a light dessert. I believe it was $1.50 for my single mini. Overall not the best tasting but well priced and presented nicely (when it's not stuffed into a plastic bag and taped with disregard). Maybe I just don't understand the cake trend but not as good as I expected. Would've given a 3 star if not for the non existent customer service. read more

Asinine credit card minimum. Can't buy a single cupcake for the $5 minimum. And I don't want two cupcakes. Stupid. Lost my business. Off to Vanilla Bakeshop, forever. read more
4 Mini Cupcakes = 40 Extra Minutes on the StairMaster The other day my girl and I had to make a run to Pasadena to pick up a gift from Vroman's Bookstore. Since I'm always on the prowl to try a new cupcake place I felt this was a perfect opportunity to try a mini cupcake from Dots. On the way to Dots I kept telling myself "Just get one cupcake, just get one cupcake". Since it was a diet day I knew better then to step foot in this place because when it comes to cupcakes I seem to loose all my will power. Well once inside the shop I knew I was in trouble, once I saw those amazing looking minis I knew I would not be able to eat just one. My girl looked at me and knew I was done for, she said "Your going to be so mad at yourself." Then I said "No I wont, I will just spend an extra ten minutes doing cardio tonight at the gym for every mini I eat". She laughed and said "Whatever makes you happy. Ten minutes per cupcake, knowing you your going to end up with six and do an extra hour. I think you like cupcakes more then you like me." Well she was close, not about the whole I like cupcakes more then her thing but about the number of cupcakes I would get. Here is a list of what I ended up leaving with, in the order I ate them, and what I thought about them. 1. Dulce De Leche- Sweet caramel tasting cake with a cream cheese frosting that had a caramel swirl on top. Very tasty cupcake 2. Apple- Delicious cake that tasted exactly like a green apple with cream cheese frosting and a caramel swirl on top, it tasted like one of those caramel apples on a stick. Also very tasty 3. PB & Banana- Amazing banana cake with tons of yummy PB frosting and PB chips on top, it was so good. 4. Carrot- Saved the best for last. Moist cake with a huge walnut right in the middle of the cake and covered with yummy cream cheese. My girl got a Raspberry Cheesecake mini and a Chocobutter mini and she was really impressed with both of them. I don't know why this place seems to get hated on. I did not think they were the best cupcakes I ever had but they were defiantly good, and at a $1.50 per mini the price is right as well. Plus if you get a mini you don't feel that bad after eating it, unless you get four like I did, then you might feel like a mini pig. P'S- I did the extra forty minutes. Was it worth it you ask, You Know it. read more

I was really skeptical about this place but I ended up loving them! I especially love when you walk into a place and they make direct eye contact and welcome you. Its so nice! The customer service was great! I really walked out of there feeling happy. I like how they make a mini size of all there regular sized cupcakes. I ended up getting a dozen mini cupcakes. They were SO BOMB. Moist, delicious. Many of their options are chocolate which I love! But if you are more of a fruity person this one probably isn't your place! Also if you tell them that one of the cupcakes is for a birthday they decorate it in a box with happy birthday stickers all over. It makes you feel so special. Definitely recommend going here. Its just off of Fair Oaks & Colorado. Right next to J. Crew! If you want parking just for the Dots Cupcakes DONT park across the street at the structure because it is a $6 flat rate! Not worth it! Find street parking; it is not that hard. read more
