Dots cupcake is our all time favorite cupcake shop. They have our favorite carrot cake, passion fruit, and red velvet. But they do have new flavors. The mini cakes are the perfect bite size for snack. They are never too sweet. I want to give a special thank you to the young man working on a Sunday afternoon. It was super friendly and helpful. He interacted with the kids. I appreciate a staff who take pride in his work and enjoy his job. Will keep coming back. read more

Your good i love your Mint chocolate cupcakes, i also love your Black Forrest..This is in a terrible street because there is no parking at all and it's extremely busy and hard to get too. You have to park further down or around the corner and if your lucky you might find a meter open and it will cost you more then the cupcakes will. There is also a parking structure near Louise's but i think they will give you free parking for one hour..i love their mini cupcakes also they are a good treat Red Velvet was my favorite!! read more

I would say this is my second favorite cupcake place in Pasadena. My first love will always be polkatots and I will compare every single cupcake I eat to that place. I've gotten dots a handful of times and every single time it's pretty good. The big cupcakes are $3 each, but they're not that big in my opinion. In fact, they are half the size of polkatots cupcakes. I always get the dulce de leche, strawberry or vanilla. I love how their cakes are moist and soft (even after a few days they were still moist), and their frosting isn't too sweet, which is good. The BIG problem I have with dots is that they sell TOO many chocolate cupcakes. I don't like eating chocolate at all, so there's a very limited amount of flavors I can get from here. They literally have chocolate in a majority of their cupcakes, whether it's swirled in it, on top as the frosting, at the bottom as the cake, or inside the filling is chocolate. They just have very little non chocolate cupcake flavors :( read more

Located on the cross streets of Colorado and Fair Oaks (look for the side across from the Cheesecake Factory), this little cupcake shop is waking distance from the corner and basically a small storefront where when you walk in, you're greeted by the glass displays for the cupcakes and the cash register, while to the further right hand side against the wall, is a small bench which is the only place to sit in the entire place. The cupcakes are very simple, but cutely decorated and the box that it comes is, again, so simple, yet it's so cute (can't go wrong with cute colored polka dots!). The staff here actually doesn't allow you to take pics of their cupcakes (actually told by one not to), so if you plan on snapping pics, you'll have to be a little slick about it. I appreciate that they offer minis because sometimes I just don't want to have an entire cupcake (and eat it), but just a bit of a taster to try. Had the vanilla one to be safe and thought it was just okay. A little bit dry on the cake part, the cream topping is just enough where it's not like half the size of your cake. A good try and will be back to test the other flavors before I can commit on which way I lean on my overall thought of the place! read more

We came here around 5:20 pm on a Sunday and there were only 2 cupcakes left. Coconut & chocolate.... and a chocolate swirl cupcake. Since we walked in at the same time as other guests, it came down to who could order first so we just said, "we'll take them!" Now, did any of us want those flavors? No, not really. Lol. But I drove all the way from duarte to pasadena because I wanted cupcakes (confexions but they were closed so we drove here) so damnit! We were getting cupcakes. Hahaha After dinner, we split the coconut & chocolate cupcake. They were good but didn't hit the spot for my cupcake hankering. I advise getting to pasadena nice and early so that you can grab the cupcake flavors of your choice. I would come back again to try some of their other cupcakes. read more

Yikes... I don't understand the rancor this place seems to generate. It has some setbacks, but it's not as bad as you might expect after reading the reviews. Food: They were out of everything except for the red velvets (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Xodv5XHU1g6Ves8ePdrtA?select=a9PI9JewOBxLRRfP9fVoJw, http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Xodv5XHU1g6Ves8ePdrtA?select=61CZZJX_PdkaByGwRAbE4w). Each cupcake has a coat of white frosting topped with a sparkling fondant button. Love that. I was sort of irked that they only had one flavor and not even much left at that. What gives? Anyway, the cupcake was decent. Not as good as Yummy Cupcakes' red velvets which are almost crushed under their own weight by their generous cream cheese frosting. Their frosting is not as cream cheesy as I would've liked. Anyway, since I am stuck in Pasadena, I have to rate this relative to everything else that's here and these are by far the best cupcakes the area has to offer. Service: Prissy me wanted a particular cupcake with a blue and pink fondant flower on the top. The girl working the register plucked it out for me after a pausing for a moment as if she was about to say no but then thought better of it. My cupcakes came in a cute box which I've been using to carry stuff around in (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Xodv5XHU1g6Ves8ePdrtA?select=XNUC2ous-msjUh0txjxV3g). Atmosphere: The store is extremely small with no place to sit. The cupcake display is also crappy. Sucks. Synopsis: Not the best cupcake place I've been to. Really, all the good places are on the Westside...I'd say this is your best bet for cupcake satisfaction in Pasadena, though. read more

I was not impressed in any way about this place. Service was so so and the cupcakes were mediocre at best.

Lately they keep running out of cupcakes very early, better call before you go in. Gas, time and cup cakes aren't cheap

Im late jumping on the Cupcake wagon. But then again what woman didn't love Cupcakes before it became a fad? A few friends had recommended Dots Cupcakes because you're able to get minis. Cupcakes as big as a small stack of quarters. The Chocobutter cupcake was smooth and rich in quality. I didn't need milk! read more

I loooooove the cupcakes here! I think they're all so cute looking and they taste amazing! My personal favorites are the chocolate mint and the marble cupcake. They have so many other flavors too which all taste super good. Parking is validated here for 30 minutes at the parking structure across the street. The cupcakes taste amazing but are a little on the pricy side costing 20 dollars for a box of MINI cupcakes which to me is a little much, however they still taste great. The lady at the store was super nice too and very helpful. I'll be sure to come back here again! :) read more

Terrible cupcakes. Plain and simple. Overly dense with mediocre frosting on most options at best, the only redeeming quality of the three cupcakes a friend and I tried was the whipped topping and custard in the passion fruit cupcake, but the cake portion was still abysmally heavy and crumbly. All cupcakes were adorable, though, but that's not enough to bring me back. The storefront is cute, and the staff very friendly (be warned they don't deal with indecision well, know what you want for the best experience!). Also, the bacon cupcake may sound good in theory, but is terrible in practice. I and my friend literally spit it out. Not recommended. read more

I needed cupcakes for my sisters shower, and being a Pasadena native, I decided to try Dots. I called in the order via phone a couple of days before the shower, and got a quote for 2 dozen mini cupcakes that was very reasonable. I told them that we had a jungle/animal theme, and they were super accommodating and decorated them to match. I've never seen decorations so PERFECT and cute. Effortless, gorgeous and VERY tasty cupcakes. Plus they came assorted in the cutest little box -- I just cut off the top to serve them. Kudos to Dots for making it all so easy! read more

I found myself in Pasadena walking around after a good meal when I stumbled upon the door to this place! I debated on making a purchase here so I pulled out my phone and quickly scammed through Yelp reviews to make sure eating something here wouldn't kill me. After more than enough good reviews, I stepped in and admired their cute cupcake shop. They had almost no space inside so this isn't exactly a hang out spot, but they definitely do a great job with presenting their cupcakes. I love the consistency of their cake. It's always very moist and not overly sweet. I have a hard time enjoying a cupcake because of how sweet or over frosted they are but here I'm not overwhelmed and you can never go wrong with a flavor. Prices aren't too ridiculous and really, to me, they are worth every penny. It looks like they really put in some work when they make their cupcakes cause they always come out tasting great. I'd definitely recommend these cupcakes and hope to be visiting even more times! read more

Dots Cupcakes - Some cupcakes! - Cupcakes Near Me - Pasadena, California

If I could eat cupcakes everyday I would! So my friends were visiting from out of town and because I had coincidentally been looking at cupcake places couple days prior, I thought we must try one of these places out when they were here. So there we go out of our way to Pasadena, and luckily for Dots the first place we went was closed. But i was determined to have cupcakes that day even though everyone else wanted to give up. I remembered this place, put it in the GPS and turns out we were a couple blocks away. Yay! Once i made it there, I got a little carried away and got 3 big cupcakes and 4 minis at around $14 bucks. Hey it's not everyday I eat cupcakes. The problem was where to eat them. The drive was too far back home. The car didn't seem appropriate. Good thing the girl at Dots told us that if we went around the corner we would find some sort of alley where there are some cafes and tables. So we bought a couple milks, which are like a dollar (cheap), and walked to the back side of Dots. It was so nice sitting there under an umbrella enjoying the breeze, eating my cupcakes. They were all pretty good, but my favorite was the strawberry shortcake and Andrew's the Berry something something. They both had a little bit of fruit inside and were really good. read more

The cupcakes here are amazing, the cake is moist and perfectly sweeten. I cannot describe why the cake is so yummy. You just have to try it. I've had the competitor and this is so much better. Cupcake heaven!!! Awwww the gates opened and cupcakes! -Location; is little little. It's adorable the way they set everything out. Pinks and green neutral colors. -Customer service: awesome. Their always super friendly anytime you go in. - cupcakes: they are all good. Super moist, and delish. They also have two sizes. Normal size cupcake (whichever size that might be) and itty bitty baby one's , which is good bc normally my kiddos won't eat it all and it's a waste. Freshness! Gotta try the Nutella & the flavor of the month is normally always tasty. You can't go wrong here. Pretty darn cupcakes & I'm a cupcake freak!!!! read more

I was so excited to discover there was a Dots in Old Town Pasadena. Was in the area for a wedding and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and then lo and behold there is a Dots right across the street! I've only gone to the S. Arroyo location where parking is pretty difficult but its always worth it. Dots has so many different flavors and I love how they have mini cupcakes because you're able to get more flavors and not feel as fatty or guilty. The cake part is so moist and the frosting is not too sweet. I always get the mint chocolate where the balls on the top are oh so crunchy. I can't imagine you going wrong with any flavor at Dots. I thought the cupcake phase would be gone by now by I think cupcakes are still going strong- along with fro yo. I've pretty much sampled all flavors but I liked the Pumpkin one which I'm sure only comes out during the fall since this was October when I made this visit. So yummy! read more

I like that this place has mini cupcake sizes so I can sample several flavors without feeling guilty. Regular cupcakes are $3, minis $1.75. I tried the strawberry shortcake and the mostess. A good cupcake bakery to go to when you're too lazy to haul your butt over to LA for all the popular cupcake hotspots. This isn't my favorite bakery, but when you're just having one of those days where you need to satisfy your sweet tooth, then this place does the job. Notable flavors are: Vanilla Chocolate Mint - Crunchy chocolate balls decorated across the top of a cool green mint frosting! Cookies and Cream - It's like eating an oreo cupcake! Hazelnut crunch Tiramisu - the whipped cream icing is definitely unique from all the other icings here! Coffee flavored whipped cream topped with chocolate sprinkles! Other flavors I've tried: Chocolate Bacon - I was excited to try this, because come on, it's freaking bacon! But alas, I failed to heed the words of my boyfriend who said that it was just going to be a chocolate cupcake topped with a piece of cold, chewy bacon...and he was right. Dulce de Leche - This was okay, but it was pretty much like the vanilla cupcake with a ribbon of caramel on top. Not much caramel flavor besides that. Strawberry shortcake Most of the cakes are pretty moist but very sweet. I already have an insane sweet tooth, so I enjoy this but people who like more mildly sweet flavors may find some of the cupcakes too overpowering and prefer the taste of cakes from Asian bakeries. If that's the case, then skip over this place. read more

My favorite thing about this cupcake shop is how you have the option to choose between a regular or a mini. The minis are so cute & are just the right size for a sweet treat. Each one is decorated nicely which makes it difficult to eat. Minis $1.75 Regular $3.00 My faves: - Chocobutter - Marble Swirl - Tiramisu - Blueberry Cheesecake - Strawberry Shortcake Other Greats: - Red Velvet - Fleur de Sel - Dulce de Leche - Chocolate Mint - Cookies and Cream They even have little cupcakes for dogs :] Their packaging is so adorable, too. Makes a great gift! Depending on how many you purchase, they will either wrap it in a decorate plastic bag w/ cute ribbon or in a box w/ handles for easy carrying. read more

This place is close to my work and I have to say this is probably my #2 place for cupcakes. Cute small shop with delish cupcakes. I love their mini size ones and it's just the perfect treat. I find the frosting is not super sweet and the cake is moist. They have some delish flavors but make sure you check their daily menu. Price is good and package is super cute. Dots Cupcakes - Cupcakes Near Me - Pasadena, California

I LOVE CUPCAKES. And I really love when others love cupcakes so strongly that it leads them to make them for me and open a store to sell them. And a cute store at that! Was driving by on a sleepy Tuesday early evening and saw the word "CUPCAKE" on the window.... screech! The car went into reverse and I was so there. The inside is super cute and very girly chic - lots of colros, polka dots, and of course, cupcake related things to treat your eyes. The real treat is the cupcakes, of course - as they offer both small and large ($1.75-$2.75). The gal working there admitted that there wasn't much of a selection since it was the end of the day, but I wasn't about to complain! Ordered the Dolce de Leche cupcake, a Cherry Chocolate, and a Chocolate and Vanilla cupcake. Got them in a beautiful to-go box that was full of polka dot tissue and stable cupcakes that weren't sliding all over the place. The Dolce cupcake was TO DIE FOR. Rich, moist, thick even. Amazing in every way. I may have to drive to Pasadena just for cupcakes, now. Damnit. read more

I don't judge my cupcakes using my eyes. So while some people might complain that Dots' cupcakes look dry or too moist or have too much icing, etc., I could care less for all of those. The cupcake eventually ends up inside my mouth so I let my taste buds do the talking for me. But then that's just me, no pun intended on others' feelings. If you feel the same, then Dots Cupcakes won't disappoint. Sure others can say they are too sweet but have they checked what they've been eating lately? A CUPCAKE!... u really can't complain if it's too sweet... if you like it less sweet, have a yogurt or something... the sweeter it gets, the better! Basically, - I put the red velvet inside my mouth, tastes good! next. - I put the strawberry shortcake inside my mouth, tastes good! next. - I put the cookies and cream inside my mouth, tastes good! next. - I put the mint chocolate inside my mouth, tastes good! next. you get the point... Tip: If you plan to snap some shots of their cupcakes while in the store, make sure you do it while the people that work there are not looking. Otherwise, you'll get scolded with an "I'm sorry, no pictures allowed in the store". I "got caught" and tried to reason with them that it's for their own good because I will be posting the pictures of their yummy cupcakes in Yelp but that ain't enough to change their mind. I'm not really sure why they are so, for lack of a better word, anal about the whole thing. Anyway, if you're a cupcake fan and you haven't tried this place yet, then it should be in the list of your must-try cupcakes around LA area... My $0.02. read more

My mother and I just stopped by to buy a couple boxes for ourselves and my nephew whose birthday it is. Truly delicious cupcakes, however, I thought it was strange that they asked to see my ID for a simple debit card purchase. Ok so I have been wanting to try these cupcakes forever! And I was so extremely disappointed when I finally did last night! We purchased a dozen of the minis thinking we would get one of each...well that didn't happen because they only had 9 flavors. Not only are they way over rated and over priced but they were stale and dry! Not what I expected by any means!! The frosting tasted like something that was store bought and not handmade. Way too much frosting on the cupcakes... Needless to say DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE. Too bad I had to waste $22 before figuring it out. read more

My eyes light up whenever I see a row of cupcakes. I am a fiend. My favorite thing about Dots is that they offer mini-cupcakes. I like trying out a bunch of different flavors, but there are only so many cupcakes I can eat in one sitting before I have to call it quits. At Dots, I can try a little bit of everything! I usually inhale 3 or 4 of these in a minute. Fleur de Sel is my favorite. It's a fluffy chocolate cake with a salty caramel center. I also had the Pumpkin Pie (tasted like carrot cake), Strawberry Shortcake (a little too sweet), Pina Colada (more coconuty than pineapple), and Chocolate Coconut. Overall, the cupcakes are pretty good. The cake part is nice and fluffy and the icing has a nice, thick, but not too creamy consistency. They're fun to eat and cute to look at---what more could you want out of a cupcake? read more

Cupcake heaven!! Love Dots. They were better on our second visit. We stopped in to have dessert first before lunch. We each ordered 2 mini cupcakes so we could try different flavors. First I choose the Fleur de Sel and the Strawberry Lemonade. OMG...it really is pure heaven. The Fleur de Sel was a delicious chocolate cake, with a chocolate frosting, swirled with Caramel and Salt. The touch of salt in the frosting was perfect to add a salty flavor to a sweet item. The cake was so moist, I could have eaten 10 more. On to the Strawberry lemonade, it tasted exactly like a glass of strawberry lemonade. A touch of strawberries in the cake and a lemonade frosting. Again the cake was so moist and the frosting yummy! Jr. B ordered a chocolate peanut butter and a chocolate mint. After the fiasco with the chocolate mint from My goodness cakes in Huntington Beach, he wanted to compare the two. The chocolate peanut butter was exactly like a reese's peanut butter cup, and the chocolate mint was great too. The mint in the frosting was real mint, not fake mint flavoring. He devoured both and said they were the best. Standing ovation to Dots, we will be back when in the Pasadena area. I love that your frosting is a compliment to the cupcakes, not thicker than the cake itself. Well Done!!! read more

Mom, who shrank the cupcakes?! USC Alumnus AND adorable cupcakes? Count me in! I forget the name of the mini cupcakes, but if I recall correctly, they were priced at a reasonable $18 for a dozen. It's your choice of flavors, but I would highly recommend the red velvet, caramel de sel, lemon tart (?), and the mint chocolate. Of course, all the cupcakes were delicious. On the plus side, you feel like a cupcake monster because the cupcakes are so adorable/perfectly miniature. Forgot candles for the birthday girl/boy? They have an array of petit cupcake-sized candles ready for you. How convenient and thoughtful! Parking's a bit tough, as it always is in Old Town. I would park at the Raymond 90-minute free lot and take a nice stroll. Don't worry about the calories. Your walk will definitely burn them off and then some! :) read more
