Strawberry Zen
Smaly K.

I always check out the pastries when I walk by. This time, I saw they had a cocktail special that looked pretty and yummy. It was the Strawberry Zen. I ordered that, and of course, had to sit at their tables to enjoy it. It was pretty yummy. And I will be back because there is at least one other drink I would like to try.

Came by Dote when I had some time to burn and was passing by. I just ordered some basic stuff - Madagascar vanilla latte and chocolate croissant. Both were good as you'd expect. It was a bit expensive but that's normal for this area. Service was patient as I was ordering and did a good job of making the food and coffee fast so I was happy with that. The interior was nice and cozy and was a good place to stay a bit and work. There's plenty of seating around the area in the mall so you don't feel bad about staying a while, most people are just passing through anyways.

Madagascar Vanilla Latte

I stopped by Dote Coffee because it was conveniently close to my hotel, and I wanted to try some specialty coffee in the Bellevue area. I ordered the hot Madagascar vanilla latte and it was absolutely heavenly. Creamy, smooth, and full of rich vanilla flavor. I also appreciated that they offer it in a real cup, which made the experience feel more relaxed and elevated. On my second visit, I tried the blueberry scone and wow. The other Yelp reviewers were not exaggerating. It is not like a typical dry and dense scone. This one is lighter, flakier, and not overly buttery, which makes it such a perfect complement to my coffee. The sugar coating gives it a lightly toasted caramelized crunch, and the blueberries inside are plump and juicy, and taste real rather than artificial or overly sweet. It was sooo good that I immediately ordered a second one. If you are in Bellevue and want great coffee and a memorable pastry, Dote should be on your list.

Madagascar Vanilla Latte... try it!!

I'm gonna say this so the people in the back hear me. Their people rock! It's such a chill vibe I just love grabbing a chair at the bar and chit chatting with some good coffee and great company (hey hubby!) My usual go to treat is either getting an affogato or a warmed up pecan brownie and if its been a rough week then its going to the chocolate stuffed croissant, also warmed up, just make sure you have lots of napkins hehe.

Strawberry matcha was good! I got it with almond milk and extra strawberry puree. Not my favorite but it was good and convenient! Love the decor of the shop!

Chai, Banana Loaf, Iced Coffee.

This is the location in Lincoln Square South, across from Nordstrom Rack. We were in the building earlier in the day, thought to stop by and have a little breakfast. Line wasn't too long when we got there. Not much of a greeting as we got to order, but whatever, here's what we'll be ordering. We got a Chai, Iced Coffee and a Banana Bread Loaf. Pretty quick to crank out the drinks and food. There's some seating inside the place or you can sit in the communal area just outside it in the food court area of this part of the building. Overall, it was fine, not much to brag about, seems to be a popular spot, good to know there's a coffee spot here.

Mocha and matcha

Good honey dark mocha with cute latte art. The matcha left much to be desired, would not recommend. Service was ok. Lots of seating but very open. Thought it was crazy the tip screen started automatically with a 30% tip. I would recommend trying their ganache drinks as it seems like it's their speciality. Oat milk is an extra dollar per drink.

Overall: Dote Coffee Bar is a fairly standard coffee shop, nothing super stand out. Good for if you need something in a pinch, but there are better options elsewhere. Food: Ordered a honey dark mocha, it tasted regular. Didn't have any elements that stood out to me, was a very basic coffee. Service: I came early in the morning so there wasn't any wait. Since this place is located inside a mall, I can imagine the wait would be longer once the place gets busy. Ambiance: This is an open layout located inside a mall, probably not the best place to sit down and get work done. Plenty of seats for you to set your stuff down.

Our kid loved the hot chocolate! And it wasn't too hot ! Service was quick and friendly.

The interesting thing about this place is their use of ganache that they incorporate into their drinks. Interest was definitely piqued. I ordered their seasonal pistachio white chocolate ganache latte with oat milk. First impression, it had a rich taste and smooth texture. The pistachio flavored was more subtle than I anticipated but I didn't mind it because it allowed the espresso to come through more prominently. Added note, vit wasn't as sweet as I expected either. I would be curious to to try other drinks, especially their affogato as well as a few things from their food menu. Now the question, would I come back? The answer, yes I would. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I would go here if I was in the area. I could potentially see myself leaning in this direction opposed to other coffee shops in the area considering I still want to try more. The area is nice and quiet. I believe it's right off one of the link stops. The indoor seating is quite spacious with no shortage of seats. Seems like an upscale establishment.

Pumpkin Spice Latte, circa 2022 when baristas cared.
Foodie B.

Lazy Dote was a treasure when we first discovered it in 2021 when the baristas actually cared and were proud of what they created. Clearly, management has stopped caring: the current "baristas" are lazy and slow, with little to show for their efforts. We stopped going to Dote when we noticed the quality dramatically decreasing, but we will purchase the coffee beans for home. The latest incident was the worst. Imagine wanting to purchase coffee beans for holiday gifts-- on the day which they are supposed to received deliveries-- to find a low stock with little variety, then standing in line for 15 minutes, because there is only one person at the register, one person making the coffee, and one person pretending "to work." So-- why do I blame management? Management does the hiring and sets standards. Are they not scheduling people to come in a bit earlier to prep for the day, such as restocking coffee beans and other merchandise, especially during the holiday season? Sounds silly to have actual merchandise to purchase as gifts, I know. Are they hiring and tolerating employees who are lazy and ambivalent, all the while expecting customers to tip at 20 percent, 25 percent, or 30 percent? Not surprising as we do live with a generation of participation ribbons. Or is management too cheap to hire more people, blaming "short staffage" for the slow lines? I am pretty sure there are many former baristas who were terminated with no notice due to "store closures,"-- baristas who actually took pride in their work and competent to make good coffee (I'm talking about the now-shuttered Starbucks Reserve-- the epitome of incompetent management at the top). You will be more satisfied making the coffee at home.

I got the vanilla bean white mocha! It wasn't too sweet as you'd expect it to be and the coffee wasn't overwhelmingly dark to taste. Overall, a really good drink and would come back for it! You may find an issue with pricing... The service is quick in pace as it's usually bustling with people, so I didn't really get to interact as much besides asking the questions I needed. From the brief interaction though, it was friendly. It's located in the food court area, so it's busy in general and the seating can be limited at dote. You're better off finding somewhere else to sit to be honest.

my sister's peanut butter oatmeal cookie
Kait D.

Came back today and the coffee stays winning. They didn't have any vanilla syrup in stock so we'll have to come back and pick some up. My sister tried the ham and mushroom quiche and she said the egg is soft and the pastry is flaky and buttery crisp. My sister loved it. And a review for the Madagascar vanilla syrup since we've bought it twice already: I love how perfectly it goes in coffee at home, it's much more flavourful than the Starbucks vanilla syrup and a little goes a long way.

I was pleasantly surprised (and amused) to find their macarons with custom printing at the "REVIVE I-5" booth at the University Street Fair. I was amused enough to write a separate review for them. The quality of the artwork and print colors are fantastic and vibrant with the rainbow colors. Please see photo. If I was interested in custom macarons, I would most definitely order some from Macadons. The flavor in this case is a simple vanilla, which has its charms, though I typically buy other flavors. The shell doesn't have the characteristic slight crispy, which is understandable since these are not fresh from the store. The inside is a very creamy filling that squished out on the sides as I bite down. Everyone has their own texture preferences. I personally like it less creamy. I normally buy their ice cream macarons, but these are still very good. The individual boxes make them great for small gifts.

I had a friend gathering to go to the same night, and wanted to bring some desserts so this place came to mind. For it being very wet and rainy, this place feels like a nice relief from all that with the bright lighting and the cafe-like feel of the place. There's a grassy wall near the back for photo ops, and there are some tables, window seating and front couch seating. They don't only sell macarons here; there's also coffee, tea, and macaron ice cream sandwiches. I got a baker's dozen, which comes with 12 randomly assorted regular-sized macarons in a small container. This particular one came with three limited flavors: red velvet, cran-orange and a pear-like flavor. They were marked separately on a card provided with the box that shows all their regular offerings of macaron flavors. This came to $36 compared to $40 for the same number of macarons if you wanted to choose specifically which flavors you wanted instead. I also got myself a Thai tea macaron ice cream sandwich; each one is prepackaged and $8. Both people working at the counter were extremely helpful in helping me decide what to get, and explaining the differences between both sets. Flavor wise, I was not disappointed: - My Thai tea macaron ice cream sandwich hit the spot! The macarons did not come apart too easily and I could still maintain the shape of the sandwich throughout. Ice cream consistency is great, and the Thai tea flavor is not too strong. The whole thing is not too sweet by itself either, and this goes for all of their macarons in general. From other visits to their stand during conventions, I recommend their Cap'n Crunch berry, lemon, peach and durian flavors for ice cream sandwiches. - One of my friends and I loved the Vietnamese coffee flavored macaron. Taste is strong like phin-brewed coffee and it didn't have much sweet of a taste, something that would not have done well for this flavor. - The cran-orange and blueberry flavors were our other favorites; both had tastes that reminded me a lot of their respective flavors. - The box also had dark chocolate, vanilla, ube, Thai tea, pistachio and salted caramel flavors. All were decent and tasty. What I like about this place is that the taste for all of their macarons is exactly as advertised and never bogged down by the flavor that macaron shells are usually full of. I can't eat too many of these at once since they can be too sweet over time, so I would save these for a group setting where you can share these. By themselves, they are a great way to get your sweet tooth the love it needs!
