My first introduction to a dosa was many years ago in NW Chicago when a college buddy took me to a vegetarian Indian restaurant. I was really impressed by the scrolled 'crepe' stuffed with aloo (potatoes) and spices, and the array of dipping sauces and chutney. It was a really long time before I had another dosa at Seven Rivers in Riverside. A few years later and I got wind of Dosalicious in Corona off McKinley and the 91 Freeway. It's in a shopping center towards the back section, but once you find it, parking isn't an issue. Inside it's open and larger than you think, with some depth and extended seating. Basically, order at the counter and pay later, or whatever. The non-dosa entrées look really good in pictures, so I'm eager to try more but dosas are their namesake, so I got one that resembles my first experience in Chicago. The selection of dosas was remarkable though, so next time I should bring a friend or two to have a wider sampling. It didn't take long to arrive and while not scrolled, it was presented like a folded pocket, which fit the plate and facilitated tearing and dipping. Yes, finger food. Inside the potatoes seemed closer to mashed potatoes but flavor wise it was similar to past similar dishes. I enjoyed the two provided sauces a lot, and ultimately, it sat very light and I wasn't full, but not immediately hungry afterwards, either. Down the road I'll expand my horizons through a few visits targeting more menu choices. Very good overall. Yes, plastic silverware and disposable paper plates are what you get here, but that's not a deal breaker for me. Besides, have you ever worked in a restaurant and had to wash dishes in the back? Since the change of management this place has gone to gutter. Extremely bad tasting dosas which were amazing before under previous management. Even the food sizes have shrunk while the prices have gone up. Also the place smelled so bad during are last visit. Can tell the new management is cutting corners everywhere. read more

Do not come here when you're hungry. They move slower than molasses. I waited 45min just for 3orders of dosa (TO GO). The restaurant was hot, like they had the heater on. It was very uncomfortable and the lighting is terrible. I was squinting at the menu like an 80-yr old. Seems like they're trying to save money and NOT have the A/C or vents or lights on. And even though the food was decent-tasting, their customer service was subpar. They knew it was my first time there and I was waiting there for a LONG TIME, but they never tried to chat or talk or even be friendly. The 2guys/waiters/servers/owners/or-whatever-they-are just stood there, ignoring me, avoiding eye contact. They could've given a small glass of lassi or chai while waiting.....or maybe just water, at least?!? Not once did they even offer a drink or anything to relieve my sweating. Yes, I was visibly sweating, while sitting down, waiting for my order of food. Customer service is a flat ZERO, here. Food was fine......that's why it's getting 3stars. Nothing fantastic. The dosa was fresh but lacking in taste. The dipping sauces were flavorful but the chickpea could've tasted better with more garlic and spices. Overall, the food is good if you're looking for some homemade comfort food -- but order in advance and don't go when you're already hungry. EXPECT TO WAIT. Absolute worst service I've ever received. Waited one hour without seatin after we were quoted 10 mins for seating. I asked for an update at the 1 hr mark and they said 30 more minutes on top of that. Reminded them I've been waiting for one hour already. There were multiple open tables. They also hand out dirty menus that are covered with other peoples food for you to view your order We were seated and never received cups or water. I literally asked five times. Service was so terrible. I had to go get my own cups and water to serve my own self. Had to go fetch my own beer from the fridge and open the bottle top with my own opener. I wouldn't be surprised if they told me to go make my own entrée. It was not that terribly busy there were about one waiter per three tables. Went here on a whim being in the neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised! I've never tried dosas or chaats before so it was fun to try new items. We got the ghee masala dosa - my boyfriend LOVED it. I thought it was really good, especially the filling, but definitely really heavy with all that ghee. The dahi puri was my favorite, SO REFRESHING. Would absolutely get it again anywhere I see it on the menu. The tikka masala was good but I expected it to be more red in color? Threw us off a little but I didn't care. I'm sad this place is so far from me but so glad I got to experience these dishes and will be looking out for them in places closer to me! read more

A few years ago, we had an amazing experience here. The dosa was crisp, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The chutneys and sambar were perfect, served traditionally in steel plates, and the coffee was excellent. We even met the owner--a passionate woman from a southern state in India--who shared her vision of bringing authentic South Indian food to the U.S. It truly felt like a labor of love. Fast forward to the past year and a half: we've returned several times, but sadly, the food and overall experience have declined noticeably. While service isn't a major concern for us, the dosas have become limp and overly oily, and the sambar now contains something crunchy--we suspect it might be leftover idlis that have been dried and crushed. They've also switched to paper plates and plastic bowls, which significantly detracts from the dining experience. Hot sambar served in plastic not only feels off but also raises concerns about microplastics, especially since we haven't seen any recycling bins available. Another red flag: they now offer a discount for paying in cash, but we've never received a receipt--which feels unprofessional and questionable. We can't help but feel the original owner may have sold the business, and unfortunately, the new management hasn't maintained the same quality or care. We're really disappointed and will now have to start looking for a new spot in Orange County for good dosas. If anyone has recommendations, we'd love to hear them. --- I was reading the other reviews... and yes the food was cold for me too. As I learn to be my own company, I continue to try more spots! I'd just gotten off shift and decided to try Dosalicious! The staff were all very friendly and served me with a smile. It was a bit quiet, as the TV had been off, but it wasn't any kind of bother. There were many options to choose from, and there were sections dedicated to vegetarians! I had the Chana masala with mild spice, paratha(both my first times trying them!) and a masala chai for my drive home!! I was expecting the wait time to take a bit, but everything came out very fast! While eating, I had several staff members come up to me to check up on how I was doing which was super sweet(I personally don't find it redundant or annoying, I think hospitality is important.) The food was so yummy... beasted my plate. YUP. I see that there's a trend of people tanking this spots reviews because of tips and fees; it's pretty basic knowledge to know that there's a service fee if you dine in and if you use a card. I'll start off as saying that you gotta set your expectations. You come here to eat dosa. That's what they excel at. The interior can be a bit off putting. It's a bit hole in the wallish and it's not really luxurious to put it lightly. But that's not why you are here. You are here simply to eat the best in SoCal. And do they deliver. Dosa should have a slight fermented sour flavor. The best dosas are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside... Depending on the type. But boy do they deliver. Their dosas are right on. Okay honestly this place turned out to made me mad as 8 of us went in to dine on a Sunday noon. I had gone to try idli manchurian & when they said their stove wasn't working & the only thing we could order from the menu was dosa, I was so disappointed BUT it did end up working after our first order of food came out and thank god ! I loved idli manchurian so much! Perfect crisp & flavors. Dosa was great too, just thought the medu vada could use some salt. As we were getting done, our server also told us he can't give me a container for left over sambhar .. like what? Are you trying to save plastic containers, if so I can support it. But I shamelessly asked it's ok I'll use the chai cup to take it & he was laughing at me. He did end up giving me the plastic container but mentioned how he has to listen to his manager. The previous owner was very nice and friendly and used to create a homestyle vibe. The new owner is cold and doesn't know how to run a service establishment. Came in 12:41pm, order placed at 12:48 pm, and still waiting at 1:21 pm. The decor is really simple. The restaurant yields a scent like a homeless man, as you approach the restrooms, the scent gets stronger. 34 minutes later, my food showed without any word from the server. The food was served up in a fast food tray with disposal bowl and dish. The taste was mediocre. It comes with rice only, no nann at all. This place could be a hit or a miss. The dosas are very delicious but their service is very slow. If you are lucky the food will taste 12/10 but on a bad day food could be 6/10. Its kinda of a love and hate relationship because we've been going there for two years now .. sometimes we leave very disappointed and other times we leave with a happy tummy. The place is crowded most of the time. I really don't know how to better describe that this place is a "dice roll" kinda thing. Went over for dinner and we waited 48 minutes for our food after placing our order. I was getting very upset when the server suddenly brought our dinner. I went there yesterday afternoon and the place was almost empty but far from my table there was an old Asian lady who was wearing mask only to cover her mouth but she was coughing really bad ( almost like a person who has TB); however, her table was 6-7 tables away from me but her coughing was annoying. I had my appetizer but my chicken masala was uncooked so I was ready to leave when all the sudden that Asian coughing lady stand up and she went to the kitchen. I couldn't believe that with that kind of infectious cough they would let her to work that day. The worst Indian food I have ever had at a restaurant! The 'Masala' onion potato vegetable) part of the Dhosa was soupy it was liquified onions with not a potato in it! It was absolutely disgusting. The idlee was hard as a rock as it was made out of inadequately fermented batter. Absolutely tasteless and inedible. The parathas were frozen packaged parathas that were heated and served. Shameful. All the dine in food is served in single use plastic containers!!!!!!!!! The sambhar comes in take out plastic containers! They don't wash any of the plates or bowls or glasses or spoons as it's ALL TRASHED after one use. There are piles of used plastic foods left on the tables in the back. The restrooms are smelly and filthy. The service is unapologetically slow. They have several Covid-19 posters all around! That shows they haven't cleaned since 2020!! This place is a disgrace. Been here several times before, and it's always a good experience. I think the management has changed, but, quality and quantity is still superb. Ordered the veg Kothu paratha, and it was delicious. A place that specializes in South Indian cuisine. The 5 of us from work got together to have lunch at Dosalicious in Corona. We started with 3 appetizers. Vegetable samosas - OK, average. Idli - nice spongy texture for dipping. Vada - one of the best vada I tasted. I had my usual Masala Dosa. First time I had a triangle folded dosa. The filling had a good taste. I wished they put more of the masala. The bottom of the dosa was a bit oily. My coworkers ordered other types of dosa. We also ordered Mango Lassi. I passed on the Lassi. The name was very enticing so we had to try. Stopped here for a late lunch driving from Palm Springs back to OC. At first glance the place looks clean and inviting but the pungent aroma of onions being chopped hit us as soon as we walked in. Became stronger as we went further in. Mercifully they stopped chopping shortly after so we were able to stay. Why chop onions in the front?!! I hope they have a prep kitchen in the back. We were seated promptly but that was it. No greetings, no niceties. They were not happy to see us since it was getting close to closing time. Food wasn't anything special either. The Papdi chaat was good but that's it. The Chicken 65 was not flavorful at all. Had the color but lacked the spices. The Idli vada combo could've been better if the sambhar and chutney had any flavor. Sambhar was absolutely bland. After that we decided not to try anymore food. Also the fact that we were getting 'we are about to close' hints did not help. Wish I could say better things but I'm afraid there's nothing good to say. ...and what's a 3.5% Fee and why was I not informed of it when you were running my card. Very sly!!! Besides our usual orders of crispy paper dosa and Thalapakatti Mutton Biryani (#95), we tried new dishes. 1) Chicken Kothu Parotta #61 - 5 stars. The pic on the menu doesn't do any justice!!! But it's super delicious!!!! This is gonna be our new must order dish for future visits. 2) Plain Rava Dosa #39 - 5 stars. So delicious and so savory. 3) Dahi Puri #103 - 5 stars. Strange taste but it's so good. 4) Kerala Parotta #15 - 5 stars. Sooooo good that we didn't even get to take pics lol. 5) Egg and chicken noodles #100 & #101 combination - 3.5 stars. We love SI food. We like Dosalicious. But we were a bit disappointed tonight with the idli-vada combo as the vada was not cooked in the inside- it was just wet batter. And for the second time we ordered idiyappam but again it wasn't available. Why put it on the menu if it is not available? But, the sambhar was great and did NOT taste like it was made from a GITS packet mix or commercial podi. Yummy ! The idlies were soft and fresh. Parathas were really good and flaky. "This is the best food in the world," I thought as I devoured their Tiffin Platter with Masala Dosa (lunch special, $10.99). At the time I didn't know what any of the deliciousness I was eating was called or what I was supposed to dip in what; after trying all the combinations, I decided not to care because each pairing was so exquisite. The idly and vada were the perfect savory bases for the chutneys and sambar. The dosa was fun to eat and heavenly to taste. But my favorite was the yellow potato curry - it was richly savory yet light and melted in the mouth. This meal blew me away because it introduced me to new and unique flavors that I didn't know I'd love. It also made me feel great. Even though this small restaurant has been open for several years now, we recently had our first meal here. What a nice surprise. We started with an order of samosas. There are 2 per order. These were delicious and large not too spicy. It comes with dipping sauces. Unfortunately, the tamarind dipping sauce was dull, not bright and tangy as I like. The creamy mint sauce I thought was the better of the two. The Lamb Curry was quite flavorful and a generous portion size. The meat was tender, the blend of spices in the gravy was complex and rich tasting. It is comforting to know that the spicy heat level can be moderated from mild to very spicy. This is served with rice and a small salad. My palak paneer, a soupy spinach dish with lots of big chunks of Indian cheese, was prepared exactly to my preference, on the mild side, and really quite wonderful. It was served a la carte. I had to bring most of it home. We also gave one of their cheese dosas a try. I've had one elsewhere where the crepe was very thin and came out almost crispy on the edges. I was hoping for this preparation, but was disappointed. Nonetheless, it was still good, and quite large. I am thinking this would be a good option for children who do not have our adult palates. The service was great. There is a little wait before the food comes out since their food is cooked to order. Overall, a great experience that I look forward to repeating.
