    Garlic Naan
    Faye A.

Currently in Riverside tonight and Indian food sounded good. We decided to try out Punjabi Tandoor. We got the Malai Kofta, Chicken Mahkani, Lamb Vindaloo, and Samosas. Malai Kofta - Creamy sauce that had vegetables and potatoes formed into a ball and fried. It was really good! Chicken Mahkani - Very tender and flavorful! Lamb Vindaloo - Sauce was rich & savory w a hint of tang and pleasantly spicy! Sauce texture was like it had finely chopped veggies in it for thickness. Samosas - Very tasty. The green cilantro chutney was very earthy and spicy. Red chutney was sweet and spicy. I mixed both of them for a flavor explosion and it was very scrumptious!! Garlic Naan - Very tasty w pieces of chopped garlic. We enjoyed the food here and definitely coming back if we're in this area.

Amazing experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Service was fast and friendly, and everything was well organized. Definitely one of the best spots for Indian food highly recommend!

My fiancé and I were craving Indian food so we decided to try this place out. We placed a pick up order over the phone and they said it would take about 30 minutes. Upon entering, the aroma of delicious spices filled the air. The staff were friendly and gave us our order right away. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, lentils, veggie samosas, garlic naan, and rice. The chicken tikka masala was very flavorful and they did not skimp on the chicken which I liked. The lentils were delicious. Veggie samosas were crispy and had a ton of potato filling on the inside. It had a nice kick to it as well. The garlic naan was so good. It had a lot of garlic on top. Overall, I enjoyed it!

Great no frills Indian food. Naan came out piping hot and curry spice level is really solid. Big rice portions. One order is probably fine for 2 people.

Spicy chicken curry, chicken tikka masala with mixed vegetables and garlic naan

This review is long overdue. I love this place so much. I can't resist stopping here after I get my nails done next-door. It smells so delicious. They have great lunch specials too. I particularly like the chicken tikka masala and spicy chicken curry with mixed vegetables and garlic naan. Everyone here is really friendly and they remember me. It's super authentic. I just can't get enough. And best of all it is blissfully consistent. I never have to wonder if it's going to be good. If you are looking for delicious northern Indian cuisine or even want to try something new full of flavor I'd highly recommend you stop by.

I tried the breakfast combo with the paratha/roti, omelette, aloo, chana, and tea. A little spicy for me (but I'm rather soft when it comes to spiciness), but I really enjoyed the corn, potatoes, and roti (especially). And the tea was fine without sugar. I will def return when I am in the area! I thought that I had taken a photo, but apparently I didn't.

My food came out 15 minutes after ordering and was piping hot. I was excited to see my food made to order. Portion size 2/5: At first glance, it looked like a ton of food. However, there was only 4 small pieces of chicken in the chicken curry, a decent amount of potatoes and cauliflower in the mixed vegetables, and 80% of the plate was rice. After finishing the curry, I had 50% of my rice left. For $14.99 before tax, I did think the meal wasn't worth the price based on the quantity. Mossoor dal, 4/5: A lentil soup. Initially I drank it piping hot and thought it was too watery and flavorless. But once I let it cool down, I started gulping and got hit with a flavor bomb of spices, lentils, onions. This was the part of the combo. Rice, 2/5: The rice wasn't seasoned with any flavorings or fats. Since it's meant to be eaten with the curry I didn't mind the lack of flavor too much. However, the rice wasn't firm but a bit soft. Thankfully the rice wasn't mushy. But eating the rice alone was a boring experience. Mixed vegetables curry 3/5: As mentioned earlier, it was a mix of potatoes and cauliflower. It was seasoned well with the spices, but the flavor isn't what I would call complex. The curry was also fairly oily. The potatoes were soft and a bit creamy, and the cauliflower was firm. A nice mix of textures, and I concluded this curry was in the middle of the road compared to other places I had. Chicken curry, 0/5: Unfortunately, the chicken itself had no flavor. Despite using dark meat, it tasted as if it was simply boiled in hot water and had zero seasoning. The chicken tasted as if it was coated with oil (which will make sense in a bit), leaving in an unpleasant after taste of oil surrounding my tongue. The curry was even worse. The curry looked to be 50% oil, 50% curry solids and tasted even worse. It tasted like vegetable oil; no flavor at all. Maybe just a semblance of spice. Even when I tried to drain the oil out from my spoon, I tasted barely anything but heat. I hate wasting food, but I contemplated in throwing it away in disgust. Overall, I would had given this place a 1 star review for the chicken curry alone. However, the soup barely saves the meal, and I bumped it to 2 stars as a result.

The only downside during our dine-in experience was the service. The wait staff was a bit slow with basic things like getting us water and a high chair. Since it was their first week of operation, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. I've been craving a good Malayali restaurant in the area for a long time, so I was excited to have Rasam nearby. However, the issue came during our takeout order on a different day. When my husband picked up the food and we got home, we realized two items were missing. We immediately called the restaurant, and the person who answered offered either a refund or home delivery. Since we had guests at home, we chose delivery. Unfortunately, the food never arrived--and neither did the refund initially. The restaurant had both our phone numbers and our home address, so communication shouldn't have been an issue. When we followed up later that night, we were told they had tried calling us, but neither of us received any calls. This was disappointing, especially since the food had already been paid for. Although we eventually did receive the refund, the situation left a bad taste. The lack of clear communication and accountability has made us hesitant to return or order again. The food has a lot of potential, but I hope the team works on customer service, communication, and owning up to mistakes, as that really makes a difference in the overall experience

I was really impressed by the scrolled 'crepe' stuffed with aloo (potatoes) and spices, and the array of dipping sauces and chutney. It was a really long time before I had another dosa at Seven Rivers in Riverside. A few years later and I got wind of Dosalicious in Corona off McKinley and the 91 Freeway. It's in a shopping center towards the back section, but once you find it, parking isn't an issue. Inside it's open and larger than you think, with some depth and extended seating. Basically, order at the counter and pay later, or whatever. The non-dosa entrées look really good in pictures, so I'm eager to try more but dosas are their namesake, so I got one that resembles my first experience in Chicago. The selection of dosas was remarkable though, so next time I should bring a friend or two to have a wider sampling. It didn't take long to arrive and while not scrolled, it was presented like a folded pocket, which fit the plate and facilitated tearing and dipping. Yes, finger food. Inside the potatoes seemed closer to mashed potatoes but flavor wise it was similar to past similar dishes. I enjoyed the two provided sauces a lot, and ultimately, it sat very light and I wasn't full, but not immediately hungry afterwards, either. Down the road I'll expand my horizons through a few visits targeting more menu choices. Very good overall. Yes, plastic silverware and disposable paper plates are what you get here, but that's not a deal breaker for me. Besides, have you ever worked in a restaurant and had to wash dishes in the back? It's hot and nasty work, I'm sure this is behind that calculus.
