Currently in Riverside tonight and Indian food sounded good. We decided to try out Punjabi Tandoor. We got the Malai Kofta, Chicken Mahkani, Lamb Vindaloo, and Samosas. Malai Kofta - Creamy sauce that had vegetables and potatoes formed into a ball and fried. It was really good! Chicken Mahkani - Very tender and flavorful! Lamb Vindaloo - Sauce was rich & savory w a hint of tang and pleasantly spicy! Sauce texture was like it had finely chopped veggies in it for thickness. Samosas - Very tasty. The green cilantro chutney was very earthy and spicy. Red chutney was sweet and spicy. I mixed both of them for a flavor explosion and it was very scrumptious!! Upon entering, the aroma of delicious spices filled the air. The staff were friendly and gave us our order right away. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, lentils, veggie samosas, garlic naan, and rice. The chicken tikka masala was very flavorful and they did not skimp on the chicken which I liked. The lentils were delicious. Veggie samosas were crispy and had a ton of potato filling on the inside. It had a nice kick to it as well. The garlic naan was so good. It had a lot of garlic on top. Grubhub doesn't list "aloo Punjabi" as a veggie curry option for the combo plates, but when I request it in the notes they have always accommodated. Thank you! This review is from my "takeout" experience. I am a huge fan of the chicken tikka masala. I've found it very hard to find a good Indian pace that matches to that taste i have in mind but this place did. I asked for mine to be more spicy and it did not disappoint. I got 2 orders of garlic naan (trust me 1 order is not enough). The naan was amazing and you could taste the garlic (sometimes you don't). The rice was honestly very good (shocker.. I'm usually not a huge fan of it but this one was very soft and went great with the chicken). I would come again and eat in person. read more

With my wife and daughter halfway through their spiritual 21-day Daniel Fast (meaning no meat for 3 weeks) our typical dinner cuisine choices have skidded to a huge, rollicking halt! Translation? Even though I've only dared Indian cuisine four prior times in MY LIFE (and all four prior times did nothing to cement my HOPED FOR bond with this most savory and uniquely spiced of all foods!) I was basically forced to concede, given Indian food's well known affinity for l, and facility with, vegan food. We arrived at 4:57pm on TH evening, just in time to see a beautiful Family of five step gracefully out of their aged but stately BMW sedan: Middle aged Mom in flowing, colorful sari, three sons adorned in impeccably groomed beards and a college age daughter. They dutifully unlocked the front door to their restaurant and voila!!! Within 3 or so minutes a steady succession of regular customers began coming in to place and pick up their orders. The efficiency was unbelievable!! We started with a side order of vegetable samosas, big crisp dumplings stuffed with pillowy soft mounds of potato, green peas, diced carrot and a rich tantalizing mix of spices that warmed both our palate and our noses!! We didn't care much for the green, "salsa" that was likely a curry or chutney sauce, but my gawd, the brown dipping sauce was so good!!!! My bride was licking her fingers and asking for more of the "Indian BBQ sauce!" Bottom line: We instantly placed a second "to go" order of 4 more orders of the samosas (8 pcs). And then the kids got into it back at the house cuz one devoured 6 of the 8!!! Leti chose the Alu Gobi, a mix of tandoori Cauliflower & potatoes. Then Nav Rattan Korma, a savory curry ladled over mixed vegetables. Mixing it all with her Naan and Basmati Rice (which in itself sparkled w/ cardamom seeds) Leti looked transplanted straight to New Delhi. I went with the Chicken Tikka, buttery/tomato dense flavored chunks of moist white chicken grilled to perfection in the tandoor then ladled w/ ample grilled, slivered onions & peppers. Very good!!! To finish, the rice pudding was perfect- Creamy, mildly but not cloying in sweetness. While the Punjabi Tandoor won't win any awards for decor, the small restaurant is cozy but clean. Like a dentist who promises to use modern techniques to overcome even the most jaded, fearful of patients, the team, the FAMILY at Punjabi Tandoor will use their swift, skillful application of India's incomparably rich spices and tandoori techniques to overcome even the most apprehensive of westerners!! Highly recommended. We WILL be back for more!! read more

After a long Sam's Club shopping trip my husband and I spotted this spot and wanted to try it. We've been on a search for some local Indian food. We ordered the dinner combo with rice, Butter Chicken, and Tikka Masala. It came with a side of garlic Naan (2 pieces). There was a type of rice pudding that came with the combo.
