My first time trying Bangladeshi food. Friendly and helpful owner...he answered my questions about the food and even threw a little something extra sample of one of the desserts. I tried the breakfast combo with the paratha/roti, omelette, aloo, chana, and tea. A little spicy for me (but I'm rather soft when it comes to spiciness), but I really enjoyed the corn, potatoes, and roti (especially). And the tea was fine without sugar. I came in with high expectations based on the glowing reviews. When I came in around 5 pm Friday, I waited a few minutes before someone came from the back to take my order. My food came out 15 minutes after ordering and was piping hot. I was excited to see my food made to order. Portion size 2/5: At first glance, it looked like a ton of food. However, there was only 4 small pieces of chicken in the chicken curry, a decent amount of potatoes and cauliflower in the mixed vegetables, and 80% of the plate was rice. After finishing the curry, I had 50% of my rice left. For $14.99 before tax, I did think the meal wasn't worth the price based on the quantity. Mossoor dal, 4/5: A lentil soup. Initially I drank it piping hot and thought it was too watery and flavorless. But once I let it cool down, I started gulping and got hit with a flavor bomb of spices, lentils, onions. This was the part of the combo. Rice, 2/5: The rice wasn't seasoned with any flavorings or fats. Since it's meant to be eaten with the curry I didn't mind the lack of flavor too much. However, the rice wasn't firm but a bit soft. Thankfully the rice wasn't mushy. But eating the rice alone was a boring experience. Mixed vegetables curry 3/5: As mentioned earlier, it was a mix of potatoes and cauliflower. It was seasoned well with the spices, but the flavor isn't what I would call complex. The curry was also fairly oily. The potatoes were soft and a bit creamy, and the cauliflower was firm. A nice mix of textures, and I concluded this curry was in the middle of the road compared to other places I had. Chicken curry, 0/5: Unfortunately, the chicken itself had no flavor. Despite using dark meat, it tasted as if it was simply boiled in hot water and had zero seasoning. The chicken tasted as if it was coated with oil (which will make sense in a bit), leaving in an unpleasant after taste of oil surrounding my tongue. The curry was even worse. The curry looked to be 50% oil, 50% curry solids and tasted even worse. It tasted like vegetable oil; no flavor at all. Maybe just a semblance of spice. Even when I tried to drain the oil out from my spoon, I tasted barely anything but heat. I hate wasting food, but I contemplated in throwing it away in disgust. Overall, I would had given this place a 1 star review for the chicken curry alone. However, the soup barely saves the meal, and I bumped it to 2 stars as a result. read more

My family and I absolutely love this place! We ordered the Spicy Chipotle Burger, Mushroom Swiss Burger, Chicken Philly Cheesesteak, and fries. Everything came out fresh and in a reasonable amount of time. The burgers were incredibly juicy, the fries were perfectly crispy, and the seasoning they put on them is seriously delicious. You can tell they take pride in the quality of their food. The restaurant itself is clean, well-kept, and the bathrooms were spotless, which is always appreciated. Customer service was excellent as well--everyone was friendly, respectful, and welcoming. What stood out to me most was how comfortable they made us feel as a family. I was there with my husband and two young kids, and at no point did the staff make us feel like the normal kid noise or playing around was a bother. That means a lot to parents. First time trying Bangladeshi food. I loved the spices and flavorful mouthfuls. Of course had to order the biryani which comes with rice. The portion is plentiful! Some entrees don't include rice so you'll need to order it separately. I loved the fluffy traditional rice rice. We also tried the nan bread a bit thicker than others made in tandoori ovens. But still was great for scooping up that sauce and rice. Now.. their house sauces are awesome! I could bottle these up and use it everyday. It packs a punch of spice that's perfectly balanced with the seasonings. I spread this sauce of luv on everything. So good! You know it's always a good sign when there's a Yelp loves us sticker. I ordered a Bangladeshi style duck curry (hash er mangsho) from Dhaka Kitchen. It was very delicious! It had a very authentic home cooked feel to it. I shared it with some hardcore Bangladeshi chefs and they too complimented the curry. Please note, this item is not offered on the regular menu but have to be requested for in advance and they cook an entire duck once you place the order. Very good foods are sold here. Some items are cooked in Bengali/Bangladeshi style. I like their Chicken Boti Kabab due to its taste, portion size, and price. Like several times previously, today I went for Bangladeshi Rohu (Carp) fish. Contrary to American understanding, carps do not live in polluted waters and are not bottom feeders, or rough fish. These fish are not only eaten in the Asian and many Europeans countries and liked by sport fishers in those countries. The grass carp, buffalo carp, Bighead Carp, etc., which are sold in Asian markets in the USA, are included in the same group as Rohu, though the tastes vary amongst them. Unfortunately the Rohu fish I wanted today, was not ready for takeout then, when I arrived. I usually buy a couple of orders for takeout. Instead I got one order of Pangash (Swai catfish). Although this fish tasted good, but the size of fish was comparatively smaller than the Rohu fish, but costs the same. Therefore, it was not cost effective. I also purchased one order of Goat Biriyani. It tasted good, and had good quantity of goat meat. Although, the goat is cooked well but still should have been little more tender as the meat has to be separated from the joint bones (most of the time pieces of backbone) using a plastic silverware. It is difficult to eat with those. I use metal silverware at home and even have to use fingers, to extract the meat from the joints. read more

We went there for lunch on Saturday. The place is pretty unassuming with seating for 20. There is no wait staff, the kitchen is manned by 2 chefs/owners and they take your orders too. I ordered the chicken biryani, my wife ordered the chotpoti, veg puff & the Shingada/samosa. The food is pretty delicious and feels like home made food. The spices are lightly used but the flavor profiles are amazing. The meat was pretty tender. My wife loved the chotpoti which is a Bengali variation of the chat. The veg puff ate well and so did the samosa. The potato filling used in the samosa was pretty delicious. We also took a takeaway of a goat biryani which my son loved. Such a hidden gem inside the Corona Marketplace plaza off the 15. Our business is in the same plaza but it was my first time trying the food here a few weeks ago. Even though they sell Bangladeshi food, they also offer burgers and tacos which is interesting. We stuck with the Bangladeshi food and ordered their chicken biryani and chicken curry. Both were delicious. Loved the buttery rice that came with the chicken biryani and the roti was super tasty with the curry. The curry is served a la carte so you either want to add roti or a side of rice. It's not a full service restaurant - you order up front and they bring you your food but the workers are friendly. This would be a regular part of our dining rotation if it was closer to home. We stopped here on the way home from a road trip, exhausted and hungry. It's a very casual dining establishment with modest seating. The food is served relatively quickly and the staff is patient in answering questions. The only slightly critical feedback would be for them to clarify the combo is not selecting your own meats/curry - it's a set box with chicken as the main protein.
