My mom had a lunch there last week and it was not a good experience. They had a cockroach on the wall in the restaurant and that's a health code violation. She brought it up to the manager there and he said- did you now want a discount? He was very rude. The food for the buffet wasn't good/ they should have fewer items and better quality- but she would let that slide. But after the roach and the managers reaction/ we are done with it! Everything had great flavor, decent price, and were good portion sizes. Just thought the biryani was a bit too dry for me. Service (3/5) - Really could use some improvement on this one, had to ask multiple times or flag someone down to ask for items like water/napkins even the check several times. The servers here are very softspoken and sometimes unclear without repeating a few times. They are very nice, regardless. Just slow service. The worst service we've experienced. Waited for 30mins for a table, which we were okay with. Ordered appetizers ahead during wait time, of which one item never arrived. I asked the server first time they said the chicken tandoori takes time, I said okay. I had to ask the server again what happened and they said they served it to another table by mistake; no apology and didn't say that the item won't be served at all to us. No one came to our table to take our drink order and then I had to call the server to order our main course. After all the main course was served, they forgot accompaniments and we had to ask again! The food was below average, the onion bhaji was cold and looked like it was made with leftover onion bits, the chili paneer was gelatinous and the lamb was so tough in rogan josh that it was inedible. We were there to celebrate a birthday but turned out to be the worst 2.5 hours and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Please don't sit people for dinner if you don't have the staff to support, very disrespectful of people's time and money. I would give this place 0 stars. read more

We went to Mantra since I wanted to show my girlfriend Indian food for the first time while we were in the neighborhood. I've tried Mantra twice now; the first time was at the Magnolia location in Riverside. The servers were outstanding and the decor was quite nice. Mango lassi, Paneer pakoras, and the non-vegetarian dinner were what we ordered. Everything was delicious, but I think my favorites were the chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. I was quite grateful when the server offered us the chicken tikka masala at no cost. I will definitely return here, and I want to thank Mantra for the wonderful service. read more

The reason I will not give it four stars is because one of the times that my friend and I went to eat there I did not even leave the restaurant before I got very sick to my stomach at the end of my meal. I had to go to the restroom three times for this reason. The first half dozen times we ate there there were no issues and the last time we ate there there were no issues. From there, I will have an idea if I will go back and try other dishes. I mean, if they can't get that right, then what is the point? Well, they did get it right! The rice was the best I've had. Garlic Naan, too. This would have been 5 review if is was it for the front staff. They were not welcoming or friendly. I almost felt bad being there to pick up my food. I'm very basic when it comes to Indian food so of course I ordered the chicken tika masala medium spicy with rice and garlic naan. I also get the garlic mushrooms. Both are cooked to perfection. I ordered through Uber. Uber showed me the order and prompted me to add "items" I realized I forgot $6 rice. I added and Uber created a separate order and charged me $10.50 for the new order. I wasn't going to pay $10.50 for a $6 rice so I canceled through Uber chat bot because there wasn't another way. Uber mistakenly cancelled the original $24 order and charged me $20 fee. I called the restaurant to reinstate my original order but they said I would have to pay $24 on top of the $20 I was charged. I canceled within 5 minutes and couldn't understand what damage the cancellation caused to the restaurant and that cancellation wasn't mistakenly executed by Uber chat bot. So I ended up paying a $31 dollar rice that worth $6 dollars. The restaurant took about $26 for the $6 rice they provided. Not a win win transaction. I am no longer customer of this restaurant AND Uber eats. read more
