This is my favorite Indian restaurant. The food is affordable, not that spicy (which means I can actually eat it), but at the same time it's still really flavorful. Since it's cafeteria style and they only put the name of the dish, but not always what's in it, you have to trust that what you're pointing to is something you'll like. I basically pointed to whatever was on the vegetarian side on the left, color sauce I liked, and was ok with whatever was poking out of it. Since I wanted to have leftovers for dinner, my sister and I ordered 2 combo plates each, opened them all up, tasted each thing, then devoured whatever we liked best right then and there. My sister was like "This looks like a feast!" Just beware that there might be a little bit of a language barrier because even though the employees speak English, there's a thick accent which makes understanding each other difficult. Like I could tell we were both getting a little frustrated with each other and raising our voices as if that would help clarify things. In the end, I resorted to simply pointing and saying "This one." The 2 things I hope they improve upon is: 1) Put both the name and ingredients of each dish on the label. That's mostly where the confusion is. 2) Premake the naan bread so it can be eaten at the same time as the meal, not towards the end. So even though things got a little bit frustrating while ordering, it also made me appreciate the fact that these are actual Indian-Americans cooking authentic Indian food.

Burnt yet cold piece of chicken.

Friendly service and food was ok. I received a super burnt piece of chicken in my order which was cold on top of that. The samosa and naan were both ok but somewhat missed the mark. Probably wouldn't be coming back because I like my food warm.

Food was good but very very cold , the rice and fish ch all very cold , even though we asked the lady to heat it up for us. She took it. She brought it back the same thing I think they need to leave candles under the tray of food and like this the food will stay fresh and taste better.

I have been a loyal customer here for a long time because I truly love their authentic Indian food. The food has always been excellent, and I've often recommended this place to my friends and family. However, my recent visit was very disappointing and left me with a heavy heart. I came in for a to-go order, and unfortunately, the front counter staff was quite rude and unwelcoming. There was no greeting, no smile, not even eye contact. When I asked for Lal Mohan (Gulab Jamun), she said she didn't know what that was, and insisted they don't sell it by piece -- even though it was clearly displayed in the heating section. After a while, she finally said they could sell it by piece for $1.49 each. I never asked for the price, but the way she said it made me feel judged, as if she assumed I couldn't afford it. It was a very disappointing experience, especially from a restaurant I've always supported and admired for its food. The food remains great, but customer service and staff attitude need serious improvement. Respect and kindness cost nothing, but they mean everything to a customer.

Review #21 Whenever I am craving for an Indian food, this is the place I like to go. From time to time, the line is always long and very busy. The dining area is small. Majority of the people order to go. I like to order 3-items combo with rice (Chicken Tikka and Chicken Korma) Third is Chicken Tikka with 2 order of garlic naan. My favorite drink is sweet lassie. Sometimes, I will order mango lassie. Have you tried Thumbs Up cola? It is Indian version of coca cola. It tastes little different. The food is delicious and very affordable. The parking spaces is hard to find unless you get lucky. Otherwise, you will end up parking on the side street.

Place needs some cleaning inside, empty boxes laying around and tables with stuff on them . The outside could use some cleaning as well. Food is still good and prices are reasonable.

Lots of choices for take out in their hot buffet (where you could see everything) and also some tables, if you want to dine in. Got the 2 entree combo for $10.99 with Chili Chicken and Goat Curry ($2.99 upcharge). Comes with naan which we also upgraded to garlic ($1.99). Topped off with a mango lassi ($5.99) and a samosa ($1.49) ... all pretty tasty. Only 2 people waiting on lots of people ... but service was still pretty good. Great place for an easy dinner!

Ask the Community - Masala House Restaurant

Do they have a buffet? When is it and what is the price?

When I went they did not, it's more of a steam table set up. There are various prepared items and you pick 1,2, 3, etc combo.

    Are the samosas vegan?

You can call the Masala house and make any kind of special request or any questions that you have and call them directly I've done that several times making orders before I show up exedra

The only downside during our dine-in experience was the service. The wait staff was a bit slow with basic things like getting us water and a high chair. Since it was their first week of operation, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. I've been craving a good Malayali restaurant in the area for a long time, so I was excited to have Rasam nearby. However, the issue came during our takeout order on a different day. When my husband picked up the food and we got home, we realized two items were missing. We immediately called the restaurant, and the person who answered offered either a refund or home delivery. Since we had guests at home, we chose delivery. Unfortunately, the food never arrived--and neither did the refund initially. The restaurant had both our phone numbers and our home address, so communication shouldn't have been an issue. When we followed up later that night, we were told they had tried calling us, but neither of us received any calls. This was disappointing, especially since the food had already been paid for. Although we eventually did receive the refund, the situation left a bad taste. The lack of clear communication and accountability has made us hesitant to return or order again. The food has a lot of potential, but I hope the team works on customer service, communication, and owning up to mistakes, as that really makes a difference in the overall experience

I was really impressed by the scrolled 'crepe' stuffed with aloo (potatoes) and spices, and the array of dipping sauces and chutney. It was a really long time before I had another dosa at Seven Rivers in Riverside. A few years later and I got wind of Dosalicious in Corona off McKinley and the 91 Freeway. It's in a shopping center towards the back section, but once you find it, parking isn't an issue. Inside it's open and larger than you think, with some depth and extended seating. Basically, order at the counter and pay later, or whatever. The non-dosa entrées look really good in pictures, so I'm eager to try more but dosas are their namesake, so I got one that resembles my first experience in Chicago. The selection of dosas was remarkable though, so next time I should bring a friend or two to have a wider sampling. It didn't take long to arrive and while not scrolled, it was presented like a folded pocket, which fit the plate and facilitated tearing and dipping. Yes, finger food. Inside the potatoes seemed closer to mashed potatoes but flavor wise it was similar to past similar dishes. I enjoyed the two provided sauces a lot, and ultimately, it sat very light and I wasn't full, but not immediately hungry afterwards, either. Down the road I'll expand my horizons through a few visits targeting more menu choices. Very good overall. Yes, plastic silverware and disposable paper plates are what you get here, but that's not a deal breaker for me. Besides, have you ever worked in a restaurant and had to wash dishes in the back? It's hot and nasty work, I'm sure this is behind that calculus.
