Located on the corner of King Street and Smith Street, I parked in a loading zone which is free after 4pm. Inside, the store is filled with many gowns and even tuxedos! The variety colors and styles is overwhelming. I saw the arrows on the ground which help customers because a person could get lost in there! Service was friendly in the beginning, but cooled off in the end when I didn't like the dress that was suggested to me. I went in the dressing room, but didn't need help with the zipper. Jackie, the owner, is very nice, friendly and personable! We were lucky to walkin last Sunday and were the only customer! Her staff pulled 3 dresses for my were daughter who was shopping for a wedding dress for a Fall wedding 2026. We had gone to 2 stores in LA where she lives and couldn't find anything in her price range, under $1,000. I had made 2 bridal appointments since she is home for the holidays! The first one we canceled because the girl who was going to assist had a cough! Even though, she would wear a mask, we didn't want to take any chances! So fortunately, we went here Do Formals! It is in Chinatown and since it was a Sunday, we could find street parking! The first 2 dresses fitted her perfectly! "Like a glove" no alterations needed except to hem! They both were beautiful that we couldn't decide which one we liked more! It was the same price too $799! My daughter decided on the second one cause it would match her lacy sneakers and it had pockets! Who doesn't like a dress with pockets! Jackie helped us find the perfect veil! The lace on the outer edges matched the lace of her dress! The veil was so reasonable too! Only $69! What a deal! Spending 90 minutes to find the PERFECT gown and veil within her budget was so Lucky! The dress that I got was super pretty, unfortunately every single time I tried it on I noticed more rips in the dress. Luckily I know how to sew, but I believe for 389 dollars my dress shouldn't be ripping. I understand that all sales are final but they had already had to resew the clip to the zipper before buying the dress, which should've been my sign to ask for a new one. But even after all of that my dress is really pretty and I do just recommend looking at your dress really closely before buying. read more

Decided to check this place out being one of the only places left that has formal dresses. Why did we decided to go on a Saturday is beyond me, LOL. Nah this was the only time I can actually go. It was CROWDED and VERY tight in there, it didnt help we had a stroller as well, LOL. We were immediately greeted and asked if they could help. Not even 2 mins in the store the associate was picking out dresses for my girl to try on. I didnt get her name as, once my girl was done trying on the first set of dresses she never returned to check on us, hahaha. It wasnt a problem as im not lying when I say they were very busy. I was very disappointed with this experience. I reached out explaining that I was traveling from Utah, arriving late, and urgently needed a gold dress for a wedding this Saturday. While I understand that not all services may be offered, what stood out was the complete lack of effort to assist beyond simply repeating, "we don't offer that service." There was no attempt to provide alternatives, suggestions, or even a referral despite me clearly stating I was willing to purchase a dress. Customer service is not just about what you offer, but how you choose to help people especially when someone is in a time-sensitive situation. So far can't complain. Advice was quick and great. They gave us options and helped us with package prices. So we got the Package A I think. Comes with Suit (Jacket & Pants) Shirt & Tie for under $200. That's their basic style. More designed suits cost more. They have another package that offers a vest with the suit (Jacket & Pants) with shirt. Another package is with shirt, pants, vest & tie W/O the jacket. They also have matching kerchiefs for additional cost. They have bow ties. They have tiara's for girls/ladies & JEWELRY... oh my god THE JEWELRY!!! PRICEY DICEY! Dresses are unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! Prices may seem a bit high but... you are paying for FORMAL HIGH CLASS WARDROBE so it's only far to say it costs that much. Besides, the occasion is something special and once in a lifetime in Hawai'i so MAKE USE OF IT & WORK IT! Anywho, they have a very HUGE SELECTION OF DRESSES, SUITS, COLORS, JEWELRY & ITS ALL FORMAL. Although standing in the suit seems like a perfect fit, it's when you sit... THATS THE MAIN PART. Otherwise you will end up standing the whole night after eating. You may even have to stand WHILE eating. They can hem or alter the pants for you, so, YEAH... get the pants as to where you are sitting comfortably in. That was the one thing my sin ALMOST forgot to do until I asked, how about when you sit or bend down. When he did that, he said the pants was a bit tight. I fit well but his fear was, what if he sits and stretches the seam and it rips. NO ONE WOULD WANT THAT happen to them, right?! So after doing that he tried on a size bigger and it WAS a bit loose on the waist but that's why they MAKE BELTS OR SUSPENDERS. To HOLD the pant up on the waist without having to worry about the leg room. If it's too long, NOT A PROBLEM! They can hem it for you for additional cost. Although it may be extra cost, it's worth it to get it professionally done. Not unless your a professional hem'er yourself, then on, fine. But it's worth it! It's been a minute since I went shopping for prom. Now that my daughter is in high school, I have learned Off Saks no longer sells gowns and Windsor is the first place to check out. My daughter didn't find anything at Windsor so her friends recommended us to go to Do's Formal located on Smith Street in Chinatown. You can conveniently park at Marin Tower. Prom is in February so we went to Do's in early January. The sales people were nice and helpful and my daughter probably tried on 10 dresses or so. We found one, paid a deposit to order, and picked it up the next week. When we were putting in the order, they had us check a list of dresses by style and color that were previously purchased for the same prom to make sure there were no duplicates. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely return for her senior prom. They also have packages for tuxedo rentals. I would estimate the price range of the gowns are from $250 and up. read more

Walked in and was immediately greeted by the ladies that work here. I was wedding dress shopping with my family, and the ladies were so helpful! I'm so sorry I didn't get their names, but I was helped by the manager and her mom. They were so much fun and made the experience so enjoyable! Hi, just coming on here to inform other customers of a very terrible experience I had with Do's formal. I found and ordered my wedding dress with no issues, however when they called me to come and pick up the dress, this is when I had an extremely frustrating encounter. I provided the staff member, Debbie, with my credit card and she told me to sign a paper which stated that I received the dress, I signed the paper, and then she returned my card to me. She returned a receipt to me that was stapled to my original receipt from when I ordered the dress. I talked casually with her about the process of getting the dress altered and I left the store. Later on that day at around 5:30pm (I picked my dress up when they opened at around 11am), I started receiving phone calls over and over again from Do's formal. I received at least 6 phone calls and multiple voicemails. They were calling to inform me that I did not pay for the remaining balance and that I still owed money. I was surprised by this because I know I gave them my card and why would they hand me my dress without me paying, it wasn't making any sense. Unfortunately, I was working at the time and unable to answer the calls and by the time I was done with work, they were already closed. The next day when they open I called them back and paid the remainder balance over the phone. My concern with this encounter is that Debbie immediately started to threaten to file a police report on me when I didn't return their call the same night I picked up my dress. My other concern is that she stated there was video footage but I know that I handed her the card, so that would be captured on camera. This issue was a small mistake that turned into a very big problem where I was viewed to be a thief and in the wrong, when I simply came to pick up my dress and handed them my card. I'm not sure why I was treated in such a hostile way, and I called the very next day to pay off my balance. However, I warn any future customers about this because the customer service was super poor and very rude and unprofessional. I have attached a photo of the receipt I received the day of pick up, and the voicemails I received. The whole situation could've been handled a lot better and I am very disappointed. read more

I love that they have so much selection and that they're ready to alter it at $150 in addition to the dress price what I didn't care for was I received the dress all wrinkled and that is just not cool because certain types of material really require a special touch so I'm gonna be taking it back to them to steam my granddaughters prom gown and I hope that they're willing to do that. 5 stars because of the dress selection and customer service and affordability! It's prom season. We got there at opening. There's a ton of dresses and suit jackets to see and try. Sales associates do not make you feel pressured to buy nor do they make you feel bad for trying on a TON of dresses, nor do they make you feel rushed. They are calm. Cool. Collected. They even bring in more styles for you to try even if there's a ton of people waiting in line for a turn to try on. They even write down your gown and school name to try to prevent kids from having the same gown at the same event. That is pretty awesome! It's cramped inside once the crowds arrive. But they have a huge array of designs, colors, fabrics for all your prom and formal needs. I love the windows too... always changed out and soooo much to see! My husband and I took our daughter to go prom dress shopping EARLY - this is the key to avoiding the crowds and securing THEEEEE gown! I noticed that there was only one other girl that day trying on dresses. According to the staff, December is when they start getting an influx of shoppers. They said, we were lucky we came in a few weeks early and informed us of their policy: If we bought a dress from them, then no one else going to the same school prom would be able to purchase that same exact dress. Although my husband and I told our daughter that she was responsible for paying for her own prom expenses, we advised her to set a budget beforehand, so she wouldn't go overboard. We thought she set it kind of low at $250 for a dress, but we wanted her to go through the process of managing her own budget. Going in, my daughter had an idea of which silhouette she wanted (mermaid style) and showed one of the three ladies working there a photo of a dress similar to what she envisioned wearing. Thankfully, that made it easier to narrow the search. There are hundreds of dresses to choose from in this place and it can feel overwhelming if you don't know what you're looking for. She originally wanted a lighter colored dress, but as she tried on different gowns, she knew she looked better in a darker color. After 30 minutes or so, our daughter decided on the very first dress she tried on. It was a strapless black sequined gown with a corset lace-up back. When she tried it on my husband and I already knew it was going to be the one because of her reaction to it even before coming out to show us. She very loudly exclaimed, "Ooh, I LOVE this one!" We asked what the price was and, as we expected, it was over our daughter's initial budget. We told her that if she bought the dress, then the budget for other things for her prom would need to be readjusted. After deliberating for a bit, she decided to buy the dress for $329 (before tax). The dress does need to be hemmed just a little. When we inquired about alterations, they said they could do it for $80. In the end, we supported our daughter's decision to saying yes to the dress. She looked beautiful in it and it really was everything that she wanted. The only downfall was the price, but my husband and I already knew it would be more around the $300-$350 pricepoint. Overall, Do's Formal has a wide selection of formal evening attire for the entire family, which are reasonably priced. Also, the service is friendly and attentive. We probably spent about 45min buying a suit. $179 for coat, tie, long sleeve shirt, pants. You can pay extra $25 for hemming which takes about 1 week, $10 for a suit bag. Parking in the municipal lot in the Marin Tower (enter from Smith St). Great experience, would highly recommend them. I saw many girls trying on prom dresses, those seemed to range from $200-$400 dollars. All staff were so attentive and pleasant to every customer in the store. After being unable to rent my son a tuxedo at a reasonable price, I visited Do's after seeing an ad for their prom tuxedos packages. The store was quite busy on the day of our visit, however there were a lot of staff available to assist us. My son was able to find a tuxedo he liked at a reasonable price at Do's. I appreciated the that the alterations for his tuxedo pants were done at no additional charge and that the work was completed in less then a week. I thought Prom Tux fitting and rental would be a rather long process, but to my surprise we were in and out, paid and everything in 40 minutes. Do's Formal was the best tip shared from one of my son's friends. What's the best part? Besides a very happy teen, we own a handsome, blacked out (son's choice) Tux consisting of Tux jacket, pants, vest, tie and long sleeve dress shirt, and paid less than renting it!! Second stop on my daughter's prom gown shopping adventure ... maybe it's just still early in the season but there were far less options than we expected. She wanted something more conservative and there just wasn't much to choose from in her size. Most are spaghetti strap, strapless and/or see through bodice. Customer service isn't really a thing here, you just look through the racks on your own and find something you like that hopefully fits and isn't snagged or frayed. They can special order if they don't have your size but you gotta commit to it because it's all sales final. read more

Hawaii has fewer options for suits/tuxedos. You could pay Macy's prices or you could go here and get service and value. Let's face it, the kids will wear it once or twice so paying an arm and a leg just isn't feasible. Here you get staff that help you find the right size and style. I went shopping with my daughter last Saturday, Jan 14th (my 1st time). It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. Even tho the space is small, there was room to walk around as you look for a dress. There were so many dresses to choose from. The staff was very helpful. They asked my daughter what she was looking for, and they helped find several options to try on. We were there for an hour. She tried on 7 dresses and found 1 she loved. Love that they had a decent amount of fitting rooms. We didn't have to wait long for one at all. Now we have to go back to get the dress altered, but at least there's time. read more
