Took my daughter here on a busy day, so it was really messy and crowded in the store, but they had beautiful dresses for proms! 20 years ago my dress cost me $80. My daughters dress was $375 plus tax. So, I'm not sure if her dress cost that much or if that's the normal price now days‍ They supposedly keep track of the dresses and schools so no one has the same dress. I guess thats nice of them. They also have shoes and heels if you need it. There's also a small section for wedding attire. Flower girl ring boy clothing. In the back of the store there's a small selection of wedding dresses. Tuxedos are also available. They have all sizes xs-XXL from what I saw. Follow their instagram do's formal because they will post the newest dresses that come in. My advice and probably my daughters advice...try the dresses on!!! Obviously. My daughter had a vision of what she wanted and walked out with something totally different. Brought my daughter there to look for her senior prom dress. Talk about choices. They have so many styles & colors to choose from. You can get everything in one store. The best part that I liked is the log book that they have of every girl who bought a dress. It has the dress style # and color, and the school whose prom it's for. Before we bought the dress, they had my daughter look through the book to make sure no other girl attending the same school prom had already bought the same dress. That's ingenious. read more

Im not one to bash on a company but I'm highly upset at the owner and their immediate no when requesting to return a ball gown. My mother purchased a dress and as she walked out to her car immediately got into a car accident which is causing her to need spinal surgery. Given the circumstance we have been in and out of hospitals and been very busy with her medical needs when I called to express concern Macy, who answered the phone was very empathetic and understood this is just a simply request out of the kindness of their heart to take the dress back since my mother cannot attend the ball anymore. Macy advised she would need to contact the owner who stated no. No aloha spirit on this aina anymore and I am so upset this store would greed to the $300 that they have taken from my mother and not understand this situation. I pray the owner finds it in their heart the aloha that once lived here. Terrible spirit. We will no longer ever do any business with this place. Purchased 3 prom dresses cost with alterations approx 1100.00. Sequins and beads falling off one. Corset for one ribbed with long needle like ribbing which not only poked through the material, it left punctures on my child's skin. The Third dress hasn't even been worn yet and the sequins are falling on the floor. I took the second dress in just so they could see how the dress was constructed and the girl was very defensive and already knew about the issue with the sharp ends on the corset, and didn't even care that it's construction was so poor and actually hurt someone. After a big mishap at men's wearhouse, I went to Do's Formal because my son got invited to another prom which happens to be only 3 weeks away. We were greeted by Sophia as soon as we entered the store. I had to use the bathroom, and as soon as I came back, my son was already in the dressing room getting fitted. Sophia was swift and quick answering all the questions we had. We ended up buying instead of renting this time because the prices are the same as renting. We were in and out in less time than waiting in the queued at men's wearhouse. I will be returning for everytime I need formal wear. read more

Took my daughter today to look for a senior prom dress , it was our 1st time there so we didn't know what to expect so we called and was told no appointment was needed just walk in. Got there around 12 and they were super busy. We finally found a girl to help us and she was so helpful and patient with my daughter. Got a dressing room set up and Miya was such a big help and brought my daughter many options to try on since she didn't know what color or style she wanted. 2 hours later we found her a perfect dressmy daughter wrote down her dress and school in a book so no other girl can have the same one at prom! Which was awesome! The only thing I didn't really like was that when you order your dress it will take 2 weeks and it's not guarantee it will be in stock and you have to put a deposit down so I'm hoping they will have it. Was in desperate need for a business suit for my son. Went in on a Sunday around 2 pm. Was fairly busy, but a lady stopped to ask if we needed assistance. She then introduced us to Yen. Yen helped us find a black suit for my son. She even helped us find the right size for him, which would need the least amount of alterations. Yen did help us along assisting 4 other customers at the same time. Spend under $250 for a full suit and an extra pair of slacks. Would definitely go back, price is very reasonable...as long as you don't mind waiting for a bit. read more

Me and my boyfriend couldn't be happier and extremely grateful to Macy. She was such an amazing person. She not only help me get into the dresses but also helped me to make the right decision on the prefect dress. Macy really took her time to assist us, with almost two hours of countless fitting. My boyfriend was so grateful to Macy, finding him the prefect fit, and perfect color to match my dress. She picked out and suggested everything for us. My daughter was looking for a dress for her Senior Prom. When we got to Do's Formal it was very crowded so we just looked around at the dresses. Macy came by and asked if we needed help. My daughter showed her a few of the dresses that she liked on their IG page. Some of the ones she liked were already sold out but there were several that they had in stock. Macy went around the store and grabbed about 5 dresses and my daughter went to try them on. For the next hour and half Macy was very patient, brought more dresses for my daughter try on and helped her narrow down her choices. I think she must have tried on over a dozen dresses. She picked one and is very happy with it. I was very impressed with Macy's customer service and I would highly recommend to ask for her if you decided to check it out. read more

Do's Formal offers a whole suit for $149. It includes a coat, pants, you can choose between a neck tie or bow tie, and undershirt. We were greeted right away. She asked for my waist size and color scheme. At one point two workers were helping to assist me. They were really nice and courteous. Yelp 365 Challenge #112/365 (The Hunt for the Perfect Prom Outfit) My youngest twin is attending the prom with his girlfriend and the hunt is on for the right color, the shoes, the accessories. You feel the giddy excitement in the air exuding from all the teens as you walk into this store nestled into Chinatown. The colors are vibrant all over and everyone is looking at the solid colors over the printed. They even had masks! Made me want to put on a gown just for the heck of it with a mask and run around the store. Anyhow, last year, my niece went against traditional solid colors and chose a beautiful printed grecian-looking gown from Do's Formal. It was so pretty and very original (in my opinion). Yet, I seen a similar design hanging high up. However, that day...everyone's intention was solid colors. My son's gf was set on red. So, he had to look for a black tux with something red... Anyhow, here is the breakdown as I was walking around with my grandson who was busy trying to grab the dresses that were colorful for him. Parking: Yes, it's either street parking or right up the road to your right, there is a parking lot with a fee of $5.00 on the weekends. Caution: There are random homeless people that will break out a tune and a dance but just ignore and they'll leave you alone. Easy to find: Yes, it is on the corner of Smith and King Street. Prices: Reasonable Service: Very discreet but clerks will appear between the dresses when you need it. Appearance: Stuffed to the brim with gowns (short and long) of various designs, long sleeve shirts, children size dresses and tuxedos, accessories for hair and jewelry, shoes (men and women). Would I recommend this place: Yes, if you are looking to budget and want to stroll through Chinatown, I would recommend this place. As I shared in a previous post, you have to get through the grime and dirt to get to hidden jewels in the downtown area that offers good deals. read more

I went here to look for a formal dress for a military ball. Wow they had a lot of dresses and in a lot of regular and plus sizes. As soon as I walked in an employee asked me what type of dress I was looking for, colors and my size. She then helped me pick out a bunch of dresses to try on. Although I was surrounded by a lot of young high schoolers looking for prom dresses, I was able to find a great dress at a reasonable price (165$). They have a promotion that if you spend over &150 you get 25$ off a pair of shoes. So I bought my shoes from them too. Pros: large selection of dresses, helpful staff, affordable and the had a lot of shoes, clutches, costume jewelry to accessorize the dress. They also keep a list of all the proms and balls and what dresses and styles they sold to that event. So you will see if someone else attending bought the same dress as you. Cons: the quality of the dresses was not the best but I'm not planning to wear it again, only 2 dressing rooms, and a no return or exchange policy. So you need to really make a decision there or don't buy it yet. read more

The girls here did an amazing job assisting my friend's daughter in dress shopping for Prom. I swear she tried on over TWENTY dresses!!! The workers here were awesome. They assisted us and kept bringing more and more dresses. Let me back up, when we first got there it seemed as though we would never find the perfect dress, not even after the first 10 dresses. The store was full of dresses and full of people trying on dresses too. The workers continued assisting us in finding the right size, right color, and right style of dress. They gave us tips and suggestions until we were finally down to a few great choices. And even after that they continued to bring out more dresses until she was sure that she made the right choice. I would like to take the time to thank Do's, from the bottom of my heart. Their service was nothing short of graceful and accommodating. They listened and looked at the ideas I brought in and then the magic begin. Its rare we go for the 1st dress we try on but immediately and as soon as we saw it, it was hard to top! The good thing about it is you right the number for the dress down in a composition book they have which make sure your dress won't be duplicated at your event. Customer service was outstanding. Went here to get my son his Junior prom getup before COVID took over and everyone was just crazy willing to help. I loved it! We started off in search of a last minute tux. Before our visit, I called to see if they could accommodate us and was told to just walk in...and so we did. Immediately after entry, we were welcomed by a sales person, told her what we were looking for and she immediately pulled not just one but a few tux options off the racks and took us to a dressing room. This woman checked in on us OFTEN, got what we asked for including an honest opinion. I was wowed when it got busy and she was not available (attending to a few other customers), another worker came to assist, then another checked in on us, surprised was I of the total team work in effect! Regardless of who came, they serviced without question. They made my overall first experience here one to remember. Loved the teamwork and awesome customer service! read more

My experience was horrible. My daughter bought a black and gold dress they gave her a black and silver heels. When I went back to exchange they said No it looks used. I said when proms not for another week. The problem is they don't wrap their heels so velvet rubs. The soles were new and no foot print. How greedy are these people. read more

She helped me find exactly what I needed and to make sure that it looks good on me as well as fits properly. I did not enjoy my experience at this shop for many reasons. One, the staff brought their kids in and her son kept asking to look in our bags to see if we were stealing (obviously we were not stealing, I think they were racist because my family and I are black). Two, the woman kept banging on my daughter and I's dressing room while we were trying on and kept asking if we were okay every thirty seconds so I feel that furthers my argument that they thought we were stealing because of our skin color. Three, when we decided on a dress we noticed it had two price tags on it one was for $169 the other said $250-something. Can you guess which price she quoted me? Not the cheaper one that's for sure! YOU HAVE TO READ THIS REVIEW. THIS IS THE TRUTH AND IT HAPPENED. Check on the internet before you buy a gown from this place. I bought a gown that was over $500.00 but when I checked the designer's website, it was sold for $400.00. If the designer's website can sell for $100.00 less, then Do's formal is overcharging me. Also, be aware of this store's tactics. They make you try on like 30 dresses, tire you out and then you're gonna end up buying something because you can't think straight and you want to get out of the hot, muggy, stinky store. Yes, they have no air conditioning. Imagine trying out 10 or 20 dresses in a NON-AIR CONTITIONED PLACE. They have fans that don't circulate, just blow in one direction and so, if you are not standing right in front of the fan, you are sweaty and miserable. Also, the air in here is stagnant, it is not circulating or purifying the air at all. The same old air is just going around the store everyday. Tell them to show you the gowns hidden in the back of the store. They are not displayed in the front on the racks. If they THINK you can afford these, they will bring it out, but they hide the gorgeous, beautiful high priced gown in the back. Beware of the bait and switch tactics. They quote you one price for something then, when they ring you up, it's a higher price and when you politely ask why the price is different, they tell you oh this gown more fancy, or this gown has train, so doesn't qualify for the price we quoted. Once you make up your mind, you like it enough to buy it, and when they quote a different price, you still gonna buy it. This is the tactic that they use. They have no hand sanitizers for the customers to use. The fitting room knobs, the mirrors and the main entrance door knobs are never cleaned. I was there on two separate occasions spent 2-3 hours each and no one was cleaning, sanitizing or wiping anywhere. Even when customers leave one dressing room, they just put another person in right away without cleaning, spraying or disinfecting any thing or the hangers. How many people try on dresses here and touch the hangers that the clothes are hanging on.....When you mention that their gowns are a little high priced, Debbie's response is we pay $10,000 in rent over here. We don't make any money! When they don't want the customer to understand what the owners are saying, they start talking Vietnamese between each other. The two partners are Jackie Segawa and Debbie Do. They are talking about the customer or how much they can afford by talking Vietnamese. I am not Vietnamese, but I am fluent in the language and they had no idea I understood the language. They kept talking about the customer. If you want to go to an unsanitary store and pay an outrageous price for a gown, then by all means great store to go to. I want to give them zero stars for ganging up (Jackie Segawa and Debbie Do) on me and fighting with a customer for something so small. I wonder why they have to keep looking for new employees every other week? Maybe if the owners helped out a bit in the store, then the employees might not feel like they are not appreciated and valued. Do you want to try on dresses in a hot, not clean air, in an overcrowded store, with no hand sanitizers and no disinfecting everytime the room and door knobs get touched and pay $100-$150 more for the same dress you can get online? Then by all means, this is the perfect place for you. A BIG ZERO STARS FOR DEBBIE'S l(CO-OWNER) ATTITUDE. Let's see... we came here looking for flower girl dresses for the little ones. We found some pretty dresses right away off their $35 rack on sale and it fit the girls. They were happy and excited. Everything was going pretty well at that point. The salesgirl was friendly and helpful for the most part. Then it all went downhill from there. 1) The dresses despite being on the sale rack were more expensive than advertised. They were "accidentally" left there and had a different price. Many of the other dresses on there had a different price. Of course, those were the regular prices and it's been marked down, right? Wrong. The salesgirl asked her manager and apparently they are so busy, they just put dresses on random racks. So how do you know if they're on sale or not? Well, it's up to the manager/owner. When I pointed out the other $47, $55, etc dresses and asked if they were $35 because it was on the same rack, the salesgirl said those ones were on sale. How do they know at a glance? I told her it was a bad business practice. And let's face it, the dresses were not made with top of the line fabric or material. But they're little kids and it's good enough since they'll just be wearing them once. We decide to get the dresses anyway even though the prices were inconsistent. Now the little ones are trying on the shoes. Which brings me to... 2) They didn't have the right shoe sizes in stock. The salesgirl brought out the much used floor display shoe and another one from the back and offered to sell that pair to us. Really??? No thanks! 3) We asked if they could hold the dresses for us while we hunted for shoes elsewhere since they didn't have the ones we wanted in stock and in the right sizes. Nope. Store policy. Rigid rules. No apologies. And so we ended up leaving and spending our money elsewhere. Don't even bother going here! read more

Read previous reviews about this place and am happy to report that things seemed to have turned around. Even though we waited several minutes before someone was available to help us at the counter, once they did they were pretty much on top of it after that. And despite being overwhelmed with several other prom goer's the customer service was very above and beyond when it came to questions, sizes, and the suit we were looking for, it was exactly what we wanted, and for under $200. Best part was that we got to keep everything we paid for! Other places were charging upwards of $200 or more just to rent their tuxedo's. In the end our prom goer and ourselves were quite satisfied and especially with the service. So much so our two nieces came in and bought dresses also. read more
