Total chaos. Food and the pastries are excellent, but this is a failed ordering system that has been prevalent throughout my patronage at the West Hartford location, and basically, they rubber stamped a failed model for their new location in Avon. My pizza came out cold. Even when you asked them to double warm it they put it in the oven for about a minute and by the time it makes its way to you. It's already lukewarm. It came out separate from my other half of the order then I watched it sit on the counter and go around the restaurant on somebody's tray end up back at the busing station, getting colder and colder. I know it's my slice. I'm watching it then it goes back to be put on a larger plate and finally got it. The saving grace here is that the food is delicious. The sandwiches are amazing, and the pastries are excellent as well. Especially the pistachio mousse cake and the cookies. I'm hoping that they will carefully consider a more organized busing system. As an added note, I witnessed someone else having to get up out of their chair because they saw their drink at the busing station and overheard people confused about where it was supposed to go and then it prompted her to just go get it herself. Another area of opportunity here is to understand the importance of a shared experience. If your partner orders a sandwich and you order a salad and would like to have a lunch together, that's likely not going to happen here. Because there's no system for someone to hold part of the order until the other one is finished. I'm hoping this comment actually gets heard and discussed among the management.

"One blade breaking my heart One blade tear me apart Your six-blade knife do anything for you" (Dire Straits) Doro Markets just opened their sixth location in Avon, CT, right where New England Pasta and Beanz Café used to be. The store is pretty much identical to the ones we're most accustomed to in West Hartford and Wethersfield -plenty of seating, big grab and go shelves, a coffee station, and a gorgeous cafeteria style counter where you can ogle their prepared foods and breads. They serve breakfast from 7-11 before turning the menu over to toasts, sandwiches, salads, bowls, soups, roasted chickens, and pizzas. We picked up a slice of White Pizza, a slice of pepperoni pizza, and a gorgeous Parma sandwich on a croissant with aged prosciutto di parma, swiss cheese, and arugula. We were there pretty close to their 8:00 closing and were surprised to see just how crowded they were still are. I suspect they will be a popular and very busy place for a long time to come.

The latest location of Doro has just opened in Avon. While in Avon, one will find an abundance of places for lunch or coffee. If you're looking for a bit of an elevated spot for a coffee, salad or a dessert, where you could dine solo or with a group, Doro is the place. Doro's signature exposed brick, makes the exterior stand out from the rest of the businesses in the area. The inside had fresh flowers at every turn. They have comfortable seating inside and outside. There's a large assortment of desserts, sandwiches, pizzas and more. On this occasion my guest got their Pastrami sandwich. This sandwich typically comes on rye bread, we requested it be made on a baguette instead. I got their Baklava Cold Brew. We were given an order number so that the waitstaff could find us. We sat outside since it was so nice out. The pastrami sandwich isn't something I'd typically get. They kindly made it on a toasted baguette as requested. I had a half. It was generously packed with pastrami, a bit of Swiss cheese and mustard. It wasn't bad, just not my preference. The Baklava Cold Brew had a whole lot of flavor profiles going on. You can't do wrong with any coffee from Doro. This Doro with so many options to cater to any preference and stellar service is sure to thrive.

Wonderful place! Convenient location close to Avon shops. Pastries are excellent. Cronut is my kids favorite. Salad and bowls are also wonderful. Feels so fresh and healthy. Latte is very smooth with depth (flavored ones are too sugary for me. I prefer no sugar regular latte). There is a lovely outdoor seating area. Very pleasant on a nice day.

First off, it's definitely one of those small, tucked-away spots you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but once you walk in, the decor is so cute. Think cozy, shabby chic vibes that make it feel warm and welcoming right away. The standout for me? The dinner roll. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. It was dense, rich, and satisfying, not your typical light, airy Kaiser roll. It reminded me more of a Jamaican hard dough bread in texture and weight, which I personally loved. Super flavorful and filling. I was also really happy about their buy three, get one free promotion. It made it easy to try a few different things without feeling like I was overdoing it. As for the pastries, I tried the cinnamon roll and carrot cake. I didn't finish either, but the carrot cake definitely gave true homemade vibes. It had coconut mixed in, wasn't overly sweet, and felt more traditional than indulgent. If you like a less sugary, more classic-style carrot cake, you'll probably appreciate it. Overall, this bakery is worth a stop, especially if you're exploring the pastry trail. Not everything wowed me, but there were definitely some highlights that made it a good visit.

They keep their peanut butter options completely separate from the other flavors and even asked if I wanted my peanut butter cupcake in a separate box for allergy purposes. While in the area i also went to the Paris Baguete (in West Hartford), and there was absolutely no comparison - Le Bahn Patisserie is operating on a completely different level, and if you are planning a trip to Paris Baguette I would highly recommend going to Le Bahn instead. As noted, there is a smaller selection, so I would probably call ahead to see what she has, but if you are looking for some of the finest baked goods you have ever tasted you owe it to yourself to make the trip to Le Bahn Patisserie - you really won't regret it! I find that most bakeries drown their flavors in sugar, glazes, and frosting, while the pastries offered at Le Banh Patisserie deliver the perfect balance of taste and texture without being cloyingly sweet. If you are a fan of crossaints, you owe it to yourself to give these a try - they are golden and flaky on the outside with an incredibly buttery and airy center, and baked to perfection. Whether you choose the almond, chocolate, or classic butter, I guarantee you won't be disappointed, and will likely feel as if you just stepped out of a Parisian café. The scones are equally delightful with a crisp exterior while remaining soft and moist in the middle, and abounding in flavor. Also, be sure to grab a Doodle cookie (or two) before you go, and give the Vietnamese coffee a try - you'll be glad you did. Above all else, the owner/baker is one of the friendliest and most personable people you are likely to meet, and I could have spent the entire afternoon talking with her. After complimenting her on the quality of her treats and contemplating the lack of decent bakeries in the area, she was generous enough to recommend other establishments which she thought would be worth trying. In addition, after telling her I would love to possess her skill, she encouraged me to give it a try and even gave me a few resources with which to begin my baking journey. Overall, I can highly recommend this hidden gem as perhaps the finest confectionary I have ever had the good fortune to stumble across, and would honestly suggest to anyone that they would be doing themselves an incredible disservice by failing to stop in one afternoon and give Le Banh Patisserie a try

Their mission is imbued in their staff, products, how they set up their space, and how you order. We came here for breakfast on a weekday and had a lovely experience. They have breakfast and lunch cafe menus (+catering), yummy pastries (cookies, muffins and scones) and various coffees and drinks. We enjoyed the omelette (if you order more than 3 ingredients there's a charge) and the village breakfast which was eggs, potatoes (slightly blackened), sourdough toast (or wheat) and bacon. Prices are fairly standard ($11-14) and portions not very large. The panetonne, toasted coconut, and chocolate chip scones ($5 each) were all good and baked well. The honey latte and hot chocolate (most drinks are $4-8) were also very creamy and delicious, though slightly too sweet for our tastes (made it taste good though!) You order at the counter and then take a table and place a marker with nice words like "love" and then your food is brought to you. The actual space is very inviting, with lots of nooks and crannies (tables with chairs, couches, a fireplace). They also sell t-shirts ($30) and sweatshirts ($40-50?) which are pretty soft material, as well as ground coffee, cards, granola, etc. The other half of their space is their homemade pasta place so it's a unique layout and looked fun as well. There were plenty of customers cycling in and out, many sitting down with a warm drink and a pastry. Parking isn't huge but was not super super small but could be an issue if they got an influx of folks hanging out. Wouldn't blame them though because it's a comfortable place with free wifi.
