First of all, I must say that it's not just a hotel. It's a resort where locals & tourists can…read morevisit for hiking and beautiful views of Giessbach falls and Lake Brienz. I love the fact that the trail leads you directly behind the waterfall. It's so cool & refreshing up there. It's totally worth visiting on a sunny or rainy day. There's a café on the hotel terrace, as well as an indoor lounge with a restaurant. Many people were on the terrace enjoying a snack while viewing the waterfall and lake. We walked around the historical rooms and lounge of the hotel. It truly is a step back into the late 19th century. It was also cool to see the Giessbach funicular car traveling up the track from Lake Brienz. It's the oldest abt switch railway design dating back to 1879. Neat! I'd say it's worth a visit for the Nature Park. There are so many different trails that lead you to Iseltwald, Schweibenalp, Axalp, Brienz, and Bramisegg from the park. It's such a scenic drive up there as well. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be when viewing it all from a ferry on Lake Brienz. We enjoyed our visit here. It was peaceful & relaxing.

If you are looking for an experience with your hotel stay, this is the place for it. The atmosphere is breathtaking. Listen to some live piano music while sipping on a cocktail in the lounge and taking in views everywhere you look with a waterfall on one side and the magnificent Lake Brienz on the other. During the day you'll see a trolley that transports guests up and down to a ferry on the lake. My only note is that the comfort factor may not be quite as high as some other places, but the charm more than makes up for it. The buffet breakfast was what dreams are made of. Cheeses from local pastures, honey straight off the comb, fresh pastries, the best coffee and espresso--and that's just a few of my favorites. You also have your pick of fresh fruit, cereals, pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, etc.

Also when a customer asks for a Coke Zero, that doesn't mean a generic Coke Zero because they are not the same. The sausage my dining partner had was decent and the fries were hot. Otherwise skip this dump.

It is a small and quant restaurant situated on the water, very welcoming and perfectly suited to our needs. Our server, Marc, was exceptional. He was friendly, funny, and kind, making our experience only that much better. Escargot, served in a non-traditional sauce, not my favorite but still good. Schnitzel, with steamed vegetables, and French fries nestled in their own fry basket. Perfectly cooked and delicious. "Felche" Müllerinnen ~Art (white fish in butter) cooked to perfection served with a house salad. Egli Gebacken (Perch) traditional fish of Switzerland, lightly battered and fried, served with tartar sauce and salted potatoes, a small salad and vegetables. Excellent. Cordon Bleu~veal cutlet filled with ham and cheese, perfectly crisped and served with lemon, a side of varietal vegetables, and French fries. Everything was delicious and devoured to completion. Veal in curry sauce with white rice. Tasty and perfectly done. Rösti stuffed with veal in a mushroom sauce, exceptional dish and shouldn't be missed. No dessert, simply stuffed like my Cordon Bleu. Thank you to Marc for making our experience highly memorable, you are a gem. How lucky are we that we can stroll to the restaurant and enjoy their offerings? I'd say very! Side tip: get the fish and chips for 29 francs and you get a token to visit the dock where Crash Landing on You was filmed.
