This was the only time I dined out in Interlaken just because everything was so expensive. I felt kind of judged by the host for dining solo. They have a mini fondue pot for one, which was around 30 CHF. This was super expensive, but expected. I got the fondue with beer in it, and I didn't like it very much, but I think it's because I just didn't like the taste of beer in the cheese. The bread they gave was soft, and I'm glad it was unlimited. The restaurant was quaint and gave off good vibes. This was probably the best meal we had in Interlakken, and one of the only authentic Swiss restaurants in the area. Although it was top tier out of the restaurants we had been to, I have to only give 4 stars because nothing we had in Switzerland blew our taste buds away. It was an average meal, with absurd prices to be honest (as was all of Switzerland). Next time I visit I will probably skip the restaurant scene all together because it is just not worth it, you are better off grocery shopping and spending your money on activities and sightseeing. That being said, this was the best cheese fondue we had, which was a huge bucket list item for us. I had the bratswurst with gravy and fried potatoes. The gravy was great but coming from Germany the bratswurst was not (very dry). We had a very nice experience here during our trip to Switzerland. Came for dinner, had a nice seat outside in the front and really enjoyed some local beer, fondue for two, and some filling entrees. Such a lovely, true Swiss experience. Centuries old restaurant with amazing Rosti and Schnitzel. But beyond that the staff is so amazingly kind and thoughtful of their customers. While we were here there was an elderly man who who couldn't walk, and they helped him around like family. Came here alone to get some authentic Swiss food. What a treat it was! I came late at night, and on the outside it looked closed. But when I entered it was alive and well. Maybe 14 tables on the inside, nice and cozy. I decided to order a cheese fondue, and a lamb dish. The waitress looked at me and said no. I was confused and asked why. She said it would be too much. I smiled and said bring it on. The cheese fondue was great. They brought the perfect amount of bread as I finished the bread and fondue at the same time. The lamb was delicious. This was one of our favorite restaurants in Switzerland! We passed by right before opening and were greeted on the street by a worker, so we came back after adventuring and ate dinner. We had salads to start then steak with potatoes and vegetables. Our dishes were both outstanding. The produce and meat were very fresh and the steaks came with a variety of sauces. I shared the pork schnitzel with my wife and it came with one side, we had the croquettes, no vegatables were included. Price was $23 plus $4.50 to share. Thats is pretty pricey with only one side. Searched for the best place for fondue in Interlaken and Baren came up - It's a beautiful stroll from city center and away from the tourist hordes. They have ample patio dining, but it was sprinkling, so we opted to eat inside, which was cozy and "sweetly" decorated, preserving the rustic feel. We ordered the cheese fondue - there are 3 options - All 3 are the same cheese and come with bread cubes, but the more expensive ones come with other dipping sides. We went with the 60 CHF fondue that included sliced up regular size tomatoes, pickled pearl onions, sliced (think deli-sandwich slices) pickles, pears, baby golden potatoes, and bread (of course). So yeah - definitely not your US-types of dipping options, but everything was strangely delicious. The fondu cheese was super good, but super stinky. They had a good wine selection (loving the whole 35 cl sized bottles) and the service was great - Highly recommended for a cheese fondu outing. read more

I am absolutely floored. I called and made a reservation for 6. Showed up with my party five minutes early and the hostess told me that my reservation was not really written down because they could tell from my voice that I sounded like a young student?? My group of friends was prepared to have a lovely dinner, dressed very nice to celebrate being abroad, and she said Americans only order tap water and students don't spend enough money. She made these comments in front of large groups of tables that were looking at us as we were in tears trying to understand why they lied and said we had a reservation then told us once we were there that we weren't wealthy enough for them.
