We had a nice lunch here today. The kids were enthralled with the pool table. No children's menu to speak of, but the older ones had gnocchi; the fish finger for the younger one came with sweet potato fries, neither of which hit the spot. Cloth bags of warm bread came to the table early, with olive oil for dipping. I started with the fondue selection as an appetizer -- cheese with paprika, regular cheese and cheese with beer -- and made a good appetizer. Sam had an enjoyed venison steak, and I had wild pork roast with mashed potatoes and a nice salad. You can tell that the chef here is really something special but the service and attitude out in the dining room doesn't match. We went on a very slow night. There were maybe 5 tables. We were told to wait for a table to be set for us despite seeing the while dining room already set. We had to ask for water. The burger was good but doesn't come with a side so you need to order that separately. read more

They have an English menu, and an English speaking staff. My sister and I came here for swiss cheese fondue. It came with bread and potatoes. The swiss fondue has a pretty strong white wine, which was nice. The bread is not hard nor tough, and the potatoes were just boiled, not salted. I'm just a passing tourist, so this was a tourist's checklist for me. They have an international selection of food, but they are all subpar.. I mean, if you're trying to get asian food in a small town in Switzerland, at least go to an asian restaurant.. you can't expect good asian food in a swiss restaurant. haha read more

If I can give a negative star review, this would be it. It takes a lot for me to rate an establishment this poorly. But this is well deserved. Especially when my friend and I are and were very patient. We arrived 10 minutes before opening but appreciated that we were able to sit and have our drink orders in. My friend ordered a glass of chardonnay and I had a cappuccino. We ordered the cheese fondue to share, as this was recommended on a travel blog. That was 28 per person. My friend had her glass empty for 45 minutes whilst our waitress was slurping up spaghetti across the restaurant. Within this time the fondue never made it to our table. A rather polite employee passed us and we asked about our fondue. When she went to check on it, she said it was never put in. She was very apologetic and said it wouldn't take long if she put it in, however, this was enough to walk out. Only positive side of this was drinks were on the house, of course warranted as I don't even want to imagine if this was not offered. This is unacceptable in any situation but more so in a country that is notoriously expensive. Please steer clear of this place! read more

We selected this restaurant based on Yelp's positive ratings. I can only assume that the restaurant we visited must have changed hands or someone went to a different place. Today, walking back to hotel we were walking in front of a couple (Richard and Jennifer) from the Bay Area and overheard their poor restaurant experience. Low and behold, it was Goldener Anker, the same restaurant that we were in the night before with our adult children and granddaughter. On a positive note, we did get free tap water. This is the first place that we've been to that didn't charge for tap water. My wife ordered French Onion soup. It was, at best, soup mix poorly prepared. My son ordered the special fried perch. The restaurant did not debone the perch and deep fried the bony fish. When asked if they normally prepare this way, the answer was yes. We needed to ask for our check several times as we spent over 2 hours not enjoying the meal. This is a must miss place. read more

Excellent service the owner was so kind in helping us navigate the menu. We wanted to try fondue since it's Switzerland after all;) The wonderful owner suggested a half portion which turned out to be the perfect size of cheesy goodness. At the end of the fondue she asked if we'd like her to add an egg to cook in the bottom to help get the last of the cheese. She said that it was a common Swiss practice so of course we said yes and it was delicious. We shared an entree of the beef with a morel mushroom sauce that came with a side of hot butter noodles. We loved this restaurant near our hotel, which was away from the touristy part of town. Service was great - everyone was friendly and helpful in navigating their very large menu. Decor is a little off (eclectic meets outdated), but don't let this dissuade you from dining here. We started with the house red wine - an excellent, local choice. My husband had the fondue (because Switzerland, right?) and I had a vegetarian ravioli dish that was fresh and delicious. We talked about going a second night, it was that good! read more

The hub and I had dinner here after doing laundry at the laundry mat down the street. The laundry took quite a while so we were worried the restaurant wouldn't still be open at 9pm, but we were in luck!! We ordered the potato pancake type dish with cheese, egg and bacon which was sooooo yummy! And we had our first cheese fondue since arriving in Switzerland. It was also good! 5 stars! read more

Absolutely fantastic place for a good fondue and wonderful homely atmosphere. The staff were great considering how busy it was. We were running late for our train and the lady there was extremely kind and made sure we would have time to get there by arranging us a taxi. I had the lamb as well and it was superb! read more

A large selection of food; for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Fresh meats and vegetables. Friendly service and made accommodations for our free spirited toddler. My husband and father loved the beef on their hamburgers the bun was hard though. I ordered a curry dish...it was pretty good! The decor is a little off but kind of eccentric in a good way. My girlfriend and I had dinner at the Goldener Anker twice while visiting the Interlaken area. One night we had the burgers and another we had the veal. The service was good in both cases and the food delicious. The burgers were pretty simplistic without many of the fixings I have come to expect, but was made of a quality beef and cooked perfectly. The veal was also very good and served with homemade flat noodles. It was a tasty (though expensive) meal. With very outgoing and helpful wait staff, this is a good place to visit if you are in the area. read more

So this place was right beside our hotel and I thought it may be worth checking out after walking by after our day trip to Jungfraujoch. A quick check on yelp said worth a try and we were not disappointed. Started with the fondue as we haven't managed to sample it yet..simple and quite yummy w just wheat bread and boiled potatoes. Moved onto the salad course with plenty of fresh veggies and house made French dressing. Sirloin, cannelloni, fresh caught perch, and the pork chop were all nicely presented and tasted fabulous! All in all a pleasant atmosphere, unrushed pace, knowledgeable and friendly staff made this a great end to our day. read more
