We came here for dinner. I thought all the items were very expensive but then Switzerland is very expensive. I ended up ordering the hamburger and fries which cost 28 Swiss francs. It did not taste like an American an hamburger. The meat had a different taste that I did not like. Fries are fries and were nothing special. Second time here in four years! This place is a little bit past the Grindelwald train station and has a nice area where you can sit outdoors and eat the cheese fondue. Be wary - there's definitely alcohol in the fondue and you're gonna get a wee bit tipsy if you eat too much. The other menu items were all pretty good as well. Be sure to get the accoutrements that go with the fondue - veggies, cheese (yup dipping cheese into cheese), and of course, bread. The service, food, music, and ambiance were all on point. I would def come here again! I made ressies for 6pm and there was prob only a couple other tables occupied when we arrived. But once 7pm came around the place was popppin! We were greeted warmly and sat right away. The hubs had a steak and while we joked we needed a magnifying glass to find it bc it was kinda tiny, it was juicy and flavorful. The ravioli and veggies were yum too. The first time trying a rosti so I don't have anything to compare it to but I liked it! It's a popular Swiss dish and it reminded me of a big hash brown. I would have liked it crispy since that's how I like my hash browns. Lols But I think since it is topped with the raclette, bacon and eggs, maybe that's why it's not super crispy. Or maybe rostis aren't meant to be crispy? I have no idea since this was my first rosti. Chocolate mousse was delish. I'm not into mousse-y stuff but since the hubs likes chocolate and our server recommended it, we ordered it. We came here due to the great reviews online, but were somewhat disappointed. The cheese fondue here is quite good. They use more white wine than most places and really gives the cheese an extra kick it needs. Unfortunately, we were so excited to have rosti again and it was not good here. The rosti itself was soggy and only crispy around the edges. The veal was dry and tough. Just disappointing after we had such delicious rosti in Zurich. We hiked down from Jungfraujoch across the base of the Eiger to the train above Grindelwald on July 5, 2024. We got into town & were famished. We discovered Barry's thru Yelp & we were glad we did! We were met at the front by Melanie & she became our super hero. The place was packed, but she found us a nice table near a window & then Marlena & Muna took on the duties of making our dinner a fun & enjoyable experience. My wife & I both had the burger & fries meal. The servings were huge & the service was impeccable. Someone mentioned in another review that the hamburger tasted different than USA burgers. We concur. This is our 6th trip to Grindelwald and Barry's never disappoints!!! In our 10 day stay we had 3 meals and a chocolate fondue one evening - everything was fresh and so tasty. We happened to meet a couple at the table next to us, who suggested trying the beer. We ended up ordering a pitcher and it truly was... pretty. damn. good. beer. No regrets. I was on a budget, so I ordered the soup of the day + salad bar for 19 CHF. My friends and I then shared a huge pot of the cheese fondue, which was an absolute delight. My friend ordered a skillet dish that had skewers and vegetables, which looked delicious as well. Lucky for us, we were seated right by the window to the front of the restaurant, which gave us a beautiful view of the snow-topped Swiss mountains, as you can see in my picture. We saw all the great reviews and thought to give it a try. The good: Decor is creative and classy. The barley soup was very good. The not so good: They charge for water. They should not have beef burger on the menu. My partner and I both had burgers. They were inedible. My partner is a burger lover and had to eat this with a knife and fork!! It was so tough. I took one bite and did not eat another. They were horrible!!! The whole meal cost us 89 CHF. Wasted money. The waiter was very quick and not helpful. The only reason I gave 4 stars was due to the service (wish i could give 4.5). We were seated and served promptly but we ordered wine that didn't come with our entrees. My husband got up and went to find a server as we were not checked on regularly. Still didn't bring the wine in a timely manner. By the time they brought us our wine we had finished our meals. However, my table for the starter ordered the Kasefondue with the add on "Alles", which is a platter of assorted meats and vegetables to dip into the fondue. I'm here to tell you that the menu is NOT crystal clear about the fact that they charge $28 for the Kasefondue and an ADDITIONAL $30 for the "Alles Fondue" add on. That's $58 for a starter. It's locate inside Eiger's Hotel. Just walk inside to the end of the alley and take the stairs. You'll be greeted with most Grindelwaldesque themed. The place is really astonishing, and the ambiance is very lovely. They have tons on their menu, and please ask for a wine list. Must try is their salad bar, a local special Fondue, and their Cordon Bleu. It's like a pork schnitzel with fillings (cheese, etc).
