I had an hour pit stop here to eat, check out shops and use the restroom. I wanted hot food instead of just getting canapés or a sandwich but was worried if I would have enough time. I ordered a hot chocolate. It was delicious. In true Swiss fashion, it's hot milk poured over chocolate at the bottom of the glass/cup and you have to stir until the chocolate completely dissolves. I got a pork schnitzel with fries and I actually surprised how quickly I got my food. I multi-tasked as I waited for my food. I looked around the chocolate shoppe, went to the restroom, and before you know it...my food was hot and ready. And the fries were so good. Super crisp exterior and has some fluff inside. The schnitzel was a good portion and had a buttery/ milky taste to it. Yuuummmm!!! I went ahead and got up to pay for my lunch instead of sitting there waiting for the lone server to give me my check. I mean, if you're in a hurry, why just sit there and wait for things?! All the restaurants we visited on our multi city trip in Switzerland was full of amazingly welcoming hosts except for this one. We went in for dessert having eaten at Grindelwald. We went in with our kids. The "boss man" host was very unwelcoming and sarcastic in his interactions. I asked him about chocolate fondue (since they have savory fondue) and he replied curtly "anything that is not on the menu is not available". I then asked him to get us 2 lattes which he agreed to serve. (My older daughter would have liked tiramisu but we don't drink alcoholic beverages.) We followed him inside to pick a selection of pastries and I asked him about tiramisu latte, if it had alcohol. He said it didn't!! :-) and so I asked him to give us 2 tiramisu lattes and keep one original order since I would also love to try it! When we returned to our table, the two regular lattes had already arrived (I will give points for efficiency I suppose). "Boss man" arrived and said "since you originally placed the order that you now got, I will give you the syrup of tiramisu to add yourself and you get the better deal by paying less!"... so I replied that I am more than happy to pay the difference (although I didn't understand how any of this was my fault). He then disappeared and never came back to check on us nor brought us the check. He stood chatting with a visitor with his back towards us. Eventually, my husband went up to him and politely waited for him to finish his conversations. He took his time until his guest pointed that my husband was waiting for him. My husband asked for the check and boss man delegated another waiter to bring it to us. So we left with a very strange experience at the end of an otherwise very lovely day in this beautiful town. He refused to accept my Pfizer Covid certificate even though every place in Switzerland accepted it including at the airport and every restaurant I went to except for this one. This place was recommended by the hotel staff at Victoria-Jungfrau and was a short walk from the hotel. We were given outdoor seating (our request) with a lovely view of the city park. Service was OK - Server was stretched a little thin with too many tables but when we could flag her down she was prompt on filling requests. We ordered the Fondue and what we got was...fondue..and nothing else. A pot of cheese and wine sauce (very good) with a bowl of brown bread chunks. No vegetables or anything else. When the bread ran out (2 of us) we were brought some more. But you can only eat so much of this without other items. I guess it is ala carte. The price was about $30 - IMO, a lot for cheese sauce and bread. But it was a nice experience - "fondue in Switzerland!" Now I can check it off my bucket list. read more

Beautiful looking restaurant beside a park, but if you want fondue be prepared to part with at least 24 CHF per person for just cheese (2 person minimum, and the fee is per person!). Restaurant serves local beer and free bread. read more

I really liked this place. Was thr in 2014, had coffee and was just lounging around.

Excellent service. Appetizers were awesome. Try the Satay spring rolls and soups. Top it off with Chocolate Fondue. A phenomenal wine collection adds to the experience. Piano player was incredible and last but not least - the view of the Alps... man o' man! read more

We went for a cup of hot chocolate. They had a variety of tea, so I changed my mind and purchased a cup of Rooibos Orange Cream and was not disappointed. My husband had the hot chocolate that was good. Expect to spend so time lounging around. One guy was working the front of the shop and disappeared to get food orders. A literal black cat walked through the establishment and into the kitchen while we were dining upon frozen lunch meat. I worked in a fondue place in CA for years and knew it was invented in the Swiss alps so, while I was here I thought cool, les do this right, screw you America. However, I have since spent way too long googling what traditional fondue is because of THIS EXPERIENCE and I can tell you it is absolutely not this, served on one plate together: pickles, pineapple, strawberry, and COCKTAIL ONIONS. It also came with an order of French Fries. Then my friend said "I can't WAIT to see what they serve with the chocolate" but, spoiler alert, it was the same strawberries and pineapple making a cameo. 0/10 read more

Attended the chocolate show for CHF 16, 8 of which are returned to you in the form of a voucher. The girl who conducted the class was friendly and helpful but there wasn't much of a 'show'. We were given chocolate to sample but didn't really get much hands on experience. Nor did it teach us anything new or particularly interesting. And afterwards we used our vouchers in the cafe where the waiter was not particularly helpful and the chocolate eclair was not good. Overall, rather disappointing. read more

Came here for a chocolate making class and it was pretty fun. Well worth the 16CHF per person. You get 8CHF back to use towards anything in the store. Class was pretty entertaining and I definitely appreciate the art behind making good chocolate. Ordered some chocolate from here and they were very very good. Also got some cheesecake which was outstanding. The cafe outside is gorgeous and has great views of the city park and the mountains. What we intended on being a quick meal turned into an hour and a half long food fiasco.

This restaurent is robbing you. We came for a quick fondue, first asked how much cheese is used in a serving. we were told 200gr per person. having young kids we order 3 fondue, expecting 600gr of cheese. When the fondue arrived, it was tiny. from my experience, as a Swiss who makes fondue, they served us 250-300gr max. We complained, ask for the manager. Upon talking to the manager, we were told with a weird honesty that "yes we serve less because asian tourist don't eat much and we don't want to throw too much cheese away". I was speechless. I looked at him and told him "but they do pay for it, right?" and his answer was borderline racist by saying "yes but when you have a table full of chinese who each order a fondue and dip one piece of bread into the fondue pot and then stop eating, it's too much of a waste". IMO it's theft, plain and simple. They could offer a 100gr fondue taster instead of robbing the tourist by charging them 24.50 Swiss Francs for a tiny portion. We were told that if we wanted more, we could simply ask. We did and the 2nd fondue pot came boiling, thick and with too much starch in it. Food wasn't good and frankly, we had lost our appetite. read more

We were recommended this place as having the best raclette in town. We did like the raclette although the pastries and coffee turned out to be even better. We ended up going there again for the tiramisu latte and caramel macchiato. The view from the patio is incredible. read more
