Went for dinner. Glad I made a reservation as it was full . So i would suggest making a reservation. Had the lamb. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I chose fries as my side and they were plentiful and good. Our meals were so good went back again for dinner the next night. Had the veal in mushroom sauce. As my side has rice. This was such a lovely restaurant in Mürren. We were told that it offered classes Swiss mountain fare and we were eager to try it. The rabbit stew was so tender and flavorful. The only way I could describe it is it felt like a hug. A comforting hug after a day hiking in the cold. Both dishes just felt like something your grandma would make for you when you visited. Lovely location with a great view and very cozy, homey feel. I saw that two tables ordered fondue so that's available as well. The carrot cake was the perfect way to end the meal. We thanked the chef profusely for the meal, it has really stood out for us as one of the best meals we had on our trip! Thank you Jesus for letting us stumble upon this restaurant! We took a cable car up to Murren and explored the town that was closed for the most part. We were STARVING and what called our attention was the magnificent aroma that lingered in the air just outside the restaurant. Plus, it was freezing and drizzling so we wanted to take a quick break before heading back to our Airbnb. Their menu might as well've been a novel because it had so many pages (overwhelmed with options but I prefer the variety.) ol Idk if you guys would agree with me, but Swiss cheese in Switzerland, HITS DIFFERENT! It's the absolute best and you can totally tell that the cows are the happiest in Switzerland LOL! It shows, trust me. We tried the fondue and holy sh*t, amazing. Dip your burger, your fries, and anything within reach. You won't regret it. Our meal was just fantastic. Yes, a little bit expensive but in my opinion, well worth it. Also, as though my experience wasn't spectacular enough, as we were exiting the restaurant it started snowing. My first snow encounter!!! I was overjoyed. The best Swiss experience! read more

Swiss food in the heart of the mountains - what a concept ; ) Though busy, the food was good and the views to die for! Beer's not bad either! Outdoor seating so dress for the temperature. It does cater to tourists but that is not a negative in this case. read more

We came here for lunch after reading about it in Rick Steve's book. We started out outside, but it started storming, so they made room for us to sit inside. I had the melted Swiss cheese on bread with ham and a fried egg.. it was tasty but SO big and filling! My husband had the pork sausage and ate every bit of it. What a fantastic lunch we had! Beef stroganoff, calf's liver, salad, beers & even dessert which we never have for lunch but even that was fantastic. Despite the rainy weather it was a full house but service, with just one server for our busy area, was terrific. Can't say enough about this place. If you're in Murren you must go. read more

The waitress we had was polite and friendly while the food was fresh and delicious. I had the pancake soup and my wife enjoyed their green salad for starters. Our main course was fondue with bread and we added potatoes. The waitress taught us how to eat this traditional meal and we both loved it. It probably would have been plenty with just bread and cheese. It has a rather small dining area so I would recommend making reservations. read more

Certainly a gem. The lamb with garlic aoli was amazing. Food and service outstanding.

Average food. Very expensive. But thankful they took us in when every other place we tried in Mürren wouldn't seat us without a reservation. We had the tomato soup (yum!) and a bratwurst with rosti. My first rosti experience and I highly enjoyed it. read more

The food here is great, but they really need more servers. You'll end up waiting quite a while for service as there is only 1 waiter who cannot keep up with the typical demand. Prices are pretty decent, too! read more

I make no bones about it, this is only a three star restaurant, but given the options in Murren, it is a 4-star. Sadly, they don't carry the same menu summer and winter with regards to what us tourists consider Swiss food: example... the only fondu served in spring/summer is plain cheese because the Swiss don't eat fondu in the summer. In the winter, the menu has half a dozen fondu dishes (our favorite is with fresh herbs - yuuuum!) They have high chair (not sure if they have more than one) and coloring pencils and placemats for kids. We have eaten here many times over the last decade and have never been unhappy with a meal. Prices are getting up there as of 2017 though, so I feel it used to be a better value. Recommended nonetheless. read more

There are not many spots as beautiful as this to sit down after training and hiking and taking a gondola. As the sun set , we enjoyed delicious cheese fondue, beer and salad while enjoying a stunning view of the alps. Nice people, good food.!! read more

We were expecting an amazing meal. On the plus side, the cheeses were in keeping with reputation. Don't miss this wonderful appetizer. And, our waitress was attentive and tried hard to please. The view was also pleasant. Two of us had the spicy chicken with rice. It was terrible! Gluey rice, uninspiring sauce. The entire entree was awful. We had much better at other Murrel restaurants. Husband and I ate there two evenings. Wait staff friendly. Pork Schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce was yummy. Stroganoff, sauce and noodles were delicious. Beef chunks were tender, but rare. This is haven of German - Switzerland food. It is as authentic as it could be. Lamb and hash brown is a must.

The fondue was excellent! comes with a bag of potatoes, too funny, and tasted perfect with the chees fondue. The view wasn't bad either. The place is small and tight, yet with the cold it was perfect. Get some of the local beer! A must visit! read more

The restaurant has more outdoor seating than indoor. During the off season, there is only one chef and one waitress. The service is not very slow but I certainly think they can use one extra staff. The coffee is good. As always, the bread you can get anywhere in Switzerland is much better than anything you can get in the US. The menu is very focused and you have quite a few to choose. Although the town of Murren has a great view of the Alpine glaciers, but you only can watch people passing by in this restaurant. After a long day in the mountains, their food made me very happy. read more

the best part is the outdoor patio with amazing views of the Eiger. It just so happened the gondola up to Schilthorn was shut down and they were airlifting passengers out of the car via helicopter as I sat down to drink a few Feldschlossens and eat some Rosti and veal sausage. Great location, but the food is only average. We had supper at 3 different restaurants on consecutive nights -- 2 in Murren and 1 in Lauterbrunnen. The food in this restaurant was mediocre by comparison. In Murren, the food at the restaurant of the Hotel Alpenblick was much better. At this restaurant, we tried several different items-- Thai curry with rice (rubbery chicken, poorly spiced, congealed rice), local pork sausage with onion gravy (ok, but poor compared to other places). Both food and service met our expectations. We are Americans used to abundant fresh vegetables and very lean meat and fowl. We have yet to fully adapt/embrace heavier, less fresh European cuisine. Our sauerbraten and chicken noodle plates were appealing and quite filling. I consider the meal to have been freshly prepared, tasty, and of high quality. First of all, the service was excellent and extremely friendly. The salad was also great. It was very fresh and green, which was much appreciated after a long day of travel. This was our first fondue experience, so I can't really compare it to anything else, but it was a very expensive bowl of melted cheese with only soft bread for dipping. We weren't huge fans of the fondue, but that may be more of personal preference. read more
