If you want a relief from Swiss prices, come here! Lauterbrunnen was the coolest spot we went to in our twelve day trip to Europe and I would definitely check this place out. Pretty generic, "American" menu but everything we had was great and came out quick. We hiked 12 miles and this was a great place for a nice beer and some basic pasta varieties. This is a perfect place for a family and dogs are allowed everywhere inside the restaurant. The owner, I believe speaks Spanish and English and not Swiss German but she was wonderful and ran the restaurant alone when it was completely full. Easy going bar that also has a hotel attached. We found this hotel on Priceline and it is easily accessible to the train station. The hotel room is good, we do share a community toilet. The shower, beds, and sink are in the private room. The bar is the only bar in the town. The shower could use some upkeep, which turned a 5 to a 4 star. read more

This is definitely one of the more affordable places in town, and also the only pub if you're into that stuff. I stayed at the hotel upstairs and often ate the pub food. Their breakfast menu is especially nice--the sandwich was a perfect meal to take on the go and save money! I also tried their burger, raclette, and breakfast toast. Loved this pub during my two night stay in the sleepy town of Lauterbrunnen. The vibe is just perfect -- not wild, laidback, but fun. There's a jukebox, Feldschlossen beer on tap in three varieties, and free wi-fi that works pretty well. Loved that you can get warm alcoholic drinks like Gluhvein (mulled red wine) and a few others, as well as just a nice cappuccino or coffee even late into the night. When the pub closes, you can walk upstairs to the other bar (not sure if it's the same owner) where they have a proper dance floor, TV with music videos, and great drinks and a good crowd. Bonus: they take credit cards for even small amounts. Note: As in other restos I visited in Switzerland, sodas and bottled water cost more (4.50 Swiss Francs) than alcoholic drinks, so why not have a beer (4 Swiss Francs)? read more

One of the only places we could find serving food after 9:00 in Lauterbrunnen, and we loved it! The spaghetti is really good. It seemed very popular as tourists crowded in for a beer or a bite to eat. It has seating outside if you want a nice view as well as inside. The guy at the bar that took our order was very nice. Not to mention the fact that the prices are GREAT and we were able to eat quickly and pay before we got our food, so it wasn't a long ordeal. The Horner Pub is Lauterbrunnen's only pub so it attracts all the adventurers who come to the city who want a nice cold beer after a long day of hiking, paragliding, or BASE jumping. As one of the main BASE jumper hangouts in the city, I found myself here almost every day. I had good memories of the Thai Curry from last year, so I ordered that as soon as I arrived in this city. Unfortunately, it was not how I remembered it. There was much more rice than last year and fewer vegetables. And it was just shredded carrots and edamame. It was a sad representation of curry and way overpriced. On my next visit, I ordered the Barley Soup, which was really good. The fresh bread was great as well. We also tried their chips and guacamole, which came with salsa and jalapenos. It was okay--better than nothing, but definitely not comparable to Whole Foods guacamole and chips. On my last visit here, I ordered the Pesto Pasta, which I really didn't like last year. This year, however, the spaghetti had a lot of tasty pesto on it and I loved it! It's amazing how much meals can vary year over year! Overall, I'd say that the service is very slow, the food is so-so, the restaurant is very relaxed and vegan-friendly, and the prices are high. But, it's the only place to get a vegan dinner in this entire city so I'll be back. Plus, I love hanging out there and the environment is great...and that matters. :-) Aaaand...sometimes you see a cow walking down the road. Randomness is fun. read more

The only pub in town! The barstaff range from superfriendly and helpful to clearly don't want to be there or service anyone which is a shame. I hope the blonde "barmaid" we encountered on our second visit was just helping out as she was the least helpful barmaid I've ever experienced and made a person wait 6 minutes to get service after calling out into the back room when there were 12 people in the pub. She couldn't be bothered to tell me the range of beer and walked away while I was talking to her saying I don't drink beer! The other barmaid we encountered was very nice. We came here twice and it's one of two base jumping related centres in the area. It's a nice pub where you might overhear daredevils stories of the jumper's day, has good value food - probably one of the cheapest meals in town of spaghetti bolognese which smelt pretty good. Horner Pub is a great little pub at the edge of town where lots of base jumpers go to hang out, drink and snack. I'm not a base jumper, but I still appreciated it. The service was great (they all speak English), food (sandwiches, burgers, nuggets, etc) were cheapest in town and they take credit card which was important to me. Also, only place I saw with any people around at night unless you go down the valley to interlaken. read more
