For the first time ever I'm giving Doreen's a bad review. I love their tacos and Diet Cherry Coke. They are know for their drinks and the ice. I don't know what happened but very little ice, the Diet Coke was flat and I could not even taste the cherry. The tacos were served standing up and no napkins were offered. Overall, I am rating this restaurant with three stars as they serve very good fried chicken. However, I would rate them with only two stars for their very small triple cheeseburger, which as can be seen by the picture consisted of three pieces of bologna-sized thick hamburger! The phrase, "Where's the beef!" comes to mind, and is applicable. Look very closely at the photo! So, do not order this meal if you want a decent sized cheeseburger!!!! read more

Love it! The menu is diverse and everything is good. They are meticulously clean. The food is underpriced. You can feed a family of four for $20 easily. For breakfast the French Toast is awesome. Just got done eating the nachos. They are so good! I'm pretty sure the tortilla chips are home made and they may be the best I've had. read more

We were glad we asked about the burgers. The waitress said they were 'pretty small' because they were SOY! The menu didn't mention soy that we had seen, it said hamburger so we assumed beef. The waitress said they didn't have any beef hamburgers. 2 Stars because- it's misleading to not indicate they were soy and also because the waitress indicated she didn't know of any place in town that served regular beef hamburgers. It's a town of 4K and less than 10 restaurants...so it's odd that she was so unfamiliar with her community. Go to Lollies Cafe if you want a regular burger! read more

Great for a budget. The food is OK, they have very good Gyros, and I think the best french fries, but I like them thin and crispy. It has a wide veriety of things including, Hot Dogs, Corndogs, Mexican, Hamburgers, although extremely small and thin. At least this place is clean. The food is adequate, just basic off the Sysco truck stuff. Very awkward system, you have to stand and order right as you enter, even though the place may be nearly empty, forcing subsequent patrons to convene in the entry way till you finish. Awful. I ordered a pizza burger. Silly of me to assume that it would have sauce and cheese. All it was was a flavor free patty on a bun. We asked the manager if we could exchange it and she had a horrible attitude. She said "well you'll still have to pay for it!" I didn't ask for anything free. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Very basic food. I ordered the bluegill sandwich and a side of mushrooms. The sandwich was two pieces of white bread and a breaded filet. That was it. No slice of iceberg and a tomato, just bread and fish. The fish was good, tasty and not overly fried and greasy, so that was nice. The mushrooms were good. My dining partner had the fried chicken and loved it. I think this restaurant could slim down their menu and up the quality a bit. Also, they seem to be known for breakfast and fried chicken, so stick to those and I bet you'll get a better meal. Pros, very clean, friendly service, inexpensive food. Cons, really basic, no frills fare, if your a vegetarian you're going to have some difficulty outside of a breakfast item. If you're in Sparta, you probably live here or have relatives here, and if you are looking for some decent, no frills food, Doreen's is alright. If you're looking for something a little more upscale, try somewhere else. read more

My husband and I are always pleased with our food at Doreen's. You will never find a restaurant cleaner than Doreen's. They have the best fried chicken in the area. They also have a wide variety of other choices, including taco salad, nachos, crab rangoon, plus breakfast items (all day long). read more
