This place is an old hole in the wall place. The food is great if you can get past the look of the place. The bartender was busy and did not see us walk in. I had to go up to the bar to get a waitress. They have the best wings around. I wanted the trash wings. They fry them, coat them and fry them again. Not healthy but finger lickin good. My friend had the bacon honey mustard. I know bacon with chicken wings, it was a small piece of heaven in you mouth. After several changes in management and owners, we have winner in the community. I have delayed writing a review to make sure it is a keeper; it is! Appetizers mushrooms and gizzards are my favorites and they do them spectacularly. Porter House was excellent locally sourced delight. Only place I know of locally that you can get a whole catfish. Again, cooked perfect with a fantastic house made breading. Service is great, but like everywhere struggling to have as many staff as they would like. Full service bar, and friendly priced. We happened upon this place while driving down the highway, about to expire from hunger. And it was just what we needed. Lots of tasty food for not lots of money. Sat and waited for almost 15 minutes and never saw a waiter or waitress, wait on me, offer a menu or even attend to guest already seated.

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time, the place was so musty and dusty with a interior that looks like a serial killers cabin in the woods. As we took our seats and ordered, the waitress looked a little bit dumbfounded, I personally don't know why, anyway she then gives us our drinks, and then to little of all of our knowledge we started a big waiting game. The first ten minutes pass and I'm done with my drink and would like another, sadly there was no waitress in sight. "She might just be grabbing our food by now or something", I thought but sadly mistaken. Now 20 minutes have passed and still no check up on the table, as I sat there thinking to myself that she would come by any second I was wrong. 35 minutes have passed and still no waitress, I understand if I have to wait that long for food It's pretty much common,but for a sprite refill. Finally for waiting a total for 55 minutes I got my 12 wings that I ordered and a sprite refill. I Contemplated on getting up and leaving several times but I decided to just stick it out. Food is always good and the staff is very nice, but it always takes forever to get our food. Even breakfast is a 20 min wait when it's not very busy. Highly recommend the trash wings or fried chicken- just call it in for pick up or plan on waiting. read more

Stopped here during the eclipse seemed like a nice quiet place to watch it. The place has picnic tables and outdoor seating unfortunately no shade though which must be why there is no one here right ? No although the help wasn't overly friendly strangely after three drinks it seemed there was no more to be had. The bathroom toilet was leaking and the lock also wasn't working not a very comfortable experience for my wife. When it seemed we couldn't get another drink we asked for the check and couldn't even get that as it seemed the regular customers (locals?) were all that were getting any attention. Overall not a good experience considering they were at the center of this eclipse and really could have embraced the extra business this would bring. The only plus is the actual working phone booth on their lot. But take a picture and move on. read more

We stumbled into Mary's on our way through town. It's a local hole in the wall and while the decor is a little dated, the food was delish! (It is a town of 300 ppl...) The bar was lined with locals and everyone knew everyone's name. I guess you could say it was the Cheers of Ruma! also, our waitress was great, if you find yourself in Ruma, it's a great place to stop and have a brew and home cookin'. Quite possibly the worst service ever! We waited for an hour and never did get our food. Other tables that ordered after us were served but not us. When we said we were leaving after an hour they actually charged us for our drinks. Maybe it's ok if you are a local but not for outsiders. read more

Food was good, at least what we were served was good. We didn't receive all that was ordered, ever. Service was horrible. Our server brought one appetizer, then brought another appetizer about 20 minutes later, after being reminded twice. At one point she came to our table and asked us what we were still missing. When the second appetizer arrived it was on a plate with one of the sides that went with a meal. Fried catfish meal arrived much later with cold sides, and was served by a second server, who first questioned whether the fish belonged to us. We asked the second server what the issue was, and she became visibly irritated, and walked off before asking if we needed anything else.The other person at our table never receved their meal. A table that arrived after us ordered two pork chop dinners and were told it took extra time to cook the chops. They received their meals, ate and left before ours arrived. read more

Good food, good atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Nice selection. Something for everyone. On Friday and Saturday nights, the place is packed. I have eaten there a half a dozen times, and have not had a bad experience. Staff is friendly. Recommend this place to locals or anyone passing through. read more

Great food, service and drinks. My wife and I travel to Red Bud at least 6 times a year. Always stop at Mary's. Never disappointed. Oh, and the prices are VERY reasonable!!! A must stop if you're near Ruma (even if you're not). We come in from LA, CA, get off the plane, pick up my mother-in-law and head straight to Mary's. WOW, the good life!!!!! read more

Took an hour for a burger. Seriously???? Used to be better. Not sure it's worth the time.

How to put this... The best burger I have ever tasted. I highly recommend getting either their single/double Cheese/bacon+cheese burger! The double stands every bit 4-4.5 inches tall and looks exactly like the picture they have in their menu! I lived in Ruma for year, like not even a block away from Mary's, and it was a treat to get their food. I have taken friends their and they described their burger as "An orgasm in my mouth and belly!" The people are friendly and they do their best to get everything just the way you want it! read more
