I ordered the carbonara. This was no an authentic carbonara. The sauce was clearly made from a dairy product and not from the pasta cooking water. It most likely came from a jar. It was pretty awful. Agreed, I don't understand the bad reviews of this place! My group of 4 arrived at 7:30pm for our reservations and were immediately sat in the new outdoor seating area as we requested. The weather was perfect. They now have a full bar! For drinks we started with a bottle of wine for the table and ended the evening with Limoncello for everyone. We got two apps to split, salads, and pastas. All the pastas were perfectly cooked, no mushy over-cooked pasta here! And portions were perfect. Check this place out! We have been customers for a while and used to order online from this place very frequently (up to 3x a week), until today when I decided to pick it up myself at the restaurant and was "greeted" by this obnoxious, mad woman who manages this place. The order was said to be ready 30 min prior to my arrival, so when I wanted to mention it to her, she started yelling at me. I was baffled. To my question "Why are you talking to me like that?", she responded: "You know what? F...you!". Horrified by this irrational behavior, and not being a confrontational person, I walked away towards the counter where the chefs were working and asked her to not talk to me, but she kept cursing as I looked away. I asked the employees if she was mentally ill, they just gave me a sympathetic glance and calmly told me the order will be ready in a few minutes. How can one have this person manage anything and be face-to-face with clients? I just read previous comments and saw that many people complained about rude service. It looks like the owner/management don't see the need to change anything. I will never go back to that place again and will make sure that all my friends/co-workers are aware of this. read more

I was quite surprised when I dined here with my family. This place is welcoming and family friendly. The theatre style pizza kitchen is always a refreshing scene especially for Greenwich. If you are into seeing the cooks create magic in the kitchen while casually conversing about the world over a nice glass of Pinot Noir, then this place is a must to dine it. Granted the lighting creates a very elusive ambiance, the place was buzzing with the locals. I enjoy dining in this place because not only the staff was uberfriendly, the food was perfect sizes, but the patrons actually ate and very laid back. So if you are into a great dining experience minus the pretentious crowd of Greenwich, check out Doppio. The Gelato bar is fabulous, the homemade pizzas are delectable and the salads...oh my, the salads! I ordered the FINNOCHIO SALAD and it was perfect! I was visiting a friend and she decided to take me here for dinner. It was very busy, since it was a Saturday, but we walked in and asked for a table and waited about 5 minutes before we were seated outside. The chairs surprisingly were actually the worst part of this place. they kind of hurt since they were small and narrow so i couldnt sit back and had to sit on the edge. Guess my ass was just too fat lmfao... anywaysss, the service was fine and our waiter was a little aloof but he was bery sweet. maybe new? My friend and I couldnt tell if he was just nervous or if thats how he was. She ordered the Margherita while I decided to explore a little and get the 4 Stagioni (Mozzarella, artichoke, mushroom, ham). Everytime I went to pick up a slice it would just fall apart so i ended up just having to eat the majority with a fork. It was definitely not my favorite pizza to eat. I felt that the mushroom overpowered the entire pizza and the sauce was very thin. I ate the majority of it but it's definitely something I would not get again. That was totally on me though. Kicking myself for not coming here sooner. If you're on the fence because Doppio is pricey- just know that the price is 1000% worth it. This isn't your average pizza and pasta joint; Doppio is for lovers of flavor and ambiance. It's a total mood and a little addictive. My favorite thing about Doppio is that the dishes are light (while packed with the freshest ingredients) and you can feel good about what you're eating. The food is startlingly average with an occasional almost-good. The delivery is so awful it hurts, and I don't know how any restaurant is allowed to have such terrible customer service. I've ordered from Doppio three times because apparently I don't learn my lesson. Each time, my order of a single pizza has taken anywhere from 1.5 - 2 hours to arrive. That is just insane. To add insult to injury, their Seamless delivery estimate claims 30-45 minutes, and they're also located just up the street from me. I don't understand how it takes up to 2 hours to make one personal pizza and deliver it half a mile. The pizzas themselves are thin crust with generous amounts of toppings but very watery tomato sauce. Thin sauce + thin crust = a soggy, swampy mess in the middle when you try to pick up a slice, which immediately falls apart as the sauce drips back into the box and the toppings slide off with it. A little structural integrity never hurt a pizza! Also, the pies are usually cold and gluey by the time I receive them. I can't figure out Doppio's game here. Are they cooking them then forgetting about them for an hour? Or do they first forget about them for an hour and only jump to hastily cook them after you call them in incredulity, and then take a leisurely stroll down Greenwich Ave thus why the pizzas end up cold? Whatever is going on, this is not a good business and I don't plan to order from them again. read more

Greenwich... we DO NOT have a Michelin star restaurant. Doppio is not Carbone... I don't think the staff and owners know this... The food is great. The service... atrocious. Be prepared to wait on a weekend night for 45 plus minutes with a reservation. Don't worry though. You will feel the entire time as if the restaurant is doing you a favor by letting you in their restaurant. You will wait for 10 minutes to just be "blessed" by the hostess. And guess what, when you actually speak to the hostess, you can expect to get the same exact response from them as if you spoke to them 15 minutes ago - the table will be ready in a couple minutes. Who knows what that means. But I can assure you, a couple minutes is well over 30 with you being avoided and ignored the entire time without any accommodations. What is important to know is that the food is actually good... and reasonable. They probably could charge more if they were customer oriented and better planned reservations. For future patrons - I would avoid eating here when they're busy. Have an 8:30 or 5:30 reservation on a weekend. Anything inside this range, expect to wait with little to no concern or communication from ownership. If you're looking for good Italian food in Greenwich with better customer service go to Luganos or Applausi or Terra or Louie's (do you see where I am going?). I can assure you that you will be treated with respect and the restaurant will value your business. Best of luck to the owners. As a lot of the previous reviews have stated, the service here is abismal. However, as long as you are aware of that going in and stay on top of your waiter, you can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Some other reviews have complained about the food, specifically the pizza being soggy in the middle, etc. I have never found this to be the case and particularly enjoy that each pizza has at least a little char around the outside. The food in general is really good. I have had the pizza, some pasta specials, and a bunch of the paninis and salads. My go to salad is the endive with chicken added. The food, while really good, is a bit pricey for lunch, even for Greenwich. Also, it's challenging to eat here in the winter time because there are two doors that open directly into the seating area so as soon as someone opens the door, you get a gush of cold air on you while you're trying to eat. read more

Terrible delivery service. Ordered at 7:30, got the food at 9:20 p.m. (and we live a ten minute drive from the restaurant). We got our stone cold food - after several attempts to call the restaurant ridiculously late. This is the second time we have waited almost 90 minutes for delivery from them. The menu at Doppio consists of small plates, paninis, salads, pasta, and pizza, with a selection of wine and beer to pair with the meal. Dishes range from $8.50 to $20. There are about 16 items under the pizza menu. We were torn between the classic Margherita, Quattro Formaggi, Napoletana, and the Prosciutto Di Parma pizza. Our waiter recommended the latter, and with his facial expression, I was convinced it was a really good pizza. The Proscuitto Di Parma pizza is made of San Marzano Tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, imported Prosciutto Di Parma, arugula and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. The crust was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. The toppings were a perfect marriage and were delicious. The Fettuccine Bolognese was cooked perfectly. The meat sauce was rich and very flavorful. The pasta was fresh and soaked up all the flavors of the sauce. Divine. If you've got room in your belly, do try their gelato. The gelato is made daily, and they've got a selection of 8 flavors, plus a flavor of the week: Nocciola Cioccolato Pistacchio Té verde Tiramisu Vaniglia Fragola Passion Fruit - Sorbetto They serve it several ways: gelato in a cup or cone, a gelato sandwich, or gelato sundae. We ordered a small cup (about 4 ounces) of Tiramisu gelato, and it was topped with biscotti. The gelato was rich and creamy, and you could taste all the elements of tiramisu. read more

I've been here many times so it is time for a review. Would love to give 4 stars but just can't, and the main complaint is probably the pizza and the consistency of the pasta. We usually come (me and my wife) with our two small kids and it makes things always a bit rushed and we don't get the romantic experience. The good: The staff is accommodating and the place is kid friendly. I tend to like the bread, appetizers, and I've definitely had some good pasta before. The gelato is great. They have a nice wine selection and usually have a few good beers to choose from. The bad: The prices are high, but I know, it is just off Greenwich ave. But the quality just doesn't match it, particularly with the pizza. The pizza tends to have limited flavor - bland tomato sauce - and it is just soft and falls apart. One of those flimsy slices that you basically can't hold and feel like you need to have a fork and a knife, but even so cutting it is not easy when it is so soft. read more

They simply lie when they say the anticipated delivery time is 30-40 minutes - they reel you in with that and then can't perform. Given the price points I'd expect true "artisan cuisine". What a lie that is! The margarita pizza does not have the promised basil, and the $4 add on sausage is a dozen bland chunks. All for over $20. And the veal dish was cooked to death (but still cold since it was so late). Never ever again. I don't know how these frauds stay in business. If you want good pizza, try Post Corner or Arcuri's. Ordered fettuccine Alfredo (As seen below) First off, it was $18.00 which didn't bother me considering I figured it would be a big dish of pasta with great sauce. Still it was very expensive. Second: The pasta was delivered 30 minutes late, was cold and the portion size was terrible. There was barely enough pasta to fill me up (if I was able to finish it). Let it be know that I placed my order at 4:30pm with a delivery time of 7pm. For those that don't do math, that gives the restaurant 2.5hrs to boil water, cook pasta, and heat Alfredo sauce. Mission failed. Third: After heating the pasta in the microwave, I figured "ok small portion but maybe it's delicious" WRONG! The Alfredo sauce was awful. Tasted like the pasta was smothered in a grease trap with no flavor. I would have been better off eating buttered noodles. Fourth: Pasta was so awful, I threw it away. I wouldn't have fed that to my worst enemy because it's a disgrace to Italian food. The simplest dish can actually be screwed up. It's safe to say that I will never eat here again and will not refer anyone to Doppio. I should have gotten my pasta from a pizza chain place because it would be guaranteed to be better. Like the picture shows, terrible portion size, cold pasta, and apparently "Alfredo" sauce that is sure to make any Italian role over in their grave. I just left this place and was so disappointed. I ordered artichokes and two pizzas and a less expensive wine (or so I thought). Well, the wine was listed as 2015 and they presented me a 2016 so I thought I wouldn't complain bc of the 1 year difference since it was a less expensive wine. Come to the bill and it was in fact a more expensive wine. There were errors in the menu starting with the years listed (and unless you really check and pay attention to it be ware bc you may get a bottle that is not what's on the menu!) and the fact that the size of one bottle was noted making me think the rest of them were the same size, is not in fact the case. Ask the waiter the size of the bottle and price before you commit! I felt like I was scammed tonight. My review of the pizzas - Verdura was OK (used canned vegetables or so it seemed) but Formaggio is worth it. You'll have to pay me to come here again. read more

Here's why they deserve a low rating: the delivery SUCKS. Greenwich is a place where foodie's dreams go to die, and Doppio is your delivery nightmare. You *might* get food in 2 hours time. Maybe.
