Nice restaurant on Main Street. Has outside sitting area and a bar. Lots of regulars here. We sit and the bar and talk to other couples while we eat. Everyone is very friendly. They care about their customers here. The food is great. This is not a seafood restaurant but John the owner is from Maine and he always has an upscale fish special. The food was wonderful, but the service was terrible. Our waitress did not even ask to see if we needed anything. The did not explain the specials..but the she crab soup was wonderful. I got a side of the broccoli salad and didn't realy like it and the waitress did bring me a different side. I would go back again for the soup.. but hopefully they are nicer next time! read more

This is a wonderful place to eat! The food is outstanding and menu varied. They have a full bar and a nice brunch menu on Sunday. I eat there probably once every two weeks or more and have never gotten a bad meal. Servers are prompt, friendly and know the menu. If you go, ask for my favorite server, Amanda. We are visiting Anderson from out of town and wanted to eat somewhere downtown. Doolittles has a great atmosphere and vibe inside with super friendly service. To start, we ordered the pimiento crab dip (different, yet delicious!) It came with pretzel bread and and it was no problem to get veggies for dipping as well. We also ordered the crab cake appetizer (best I have ever had. It was ALL crab!). For dinner it was the pork Mac stack (also delicious) I could easily order this same meal every time I come back here, but there are so many other things on the menu we want to try. We can't wait to come back on our next trip to Anderson! read more

Went on a Friday night, busy but not too crowded. Very friendly service, nice atmosphere. started with fried green bean appetizer, fresh, tasted good could've done without the BBQ sauce that came with it. I've just read some pretty gruesome reviews but they seem old and outdated. I ate at this restaurant very recently May 2019 and the food was excellent, the place was very busy, the waitress was very accommodating in terms of taking her time to explain about each dish being ordered, we were six people at the hight of lunch hour, the place was packed and we were all delighted with the service and the cuisine, Sadly they did not have the calamari appetizer but that was the only downside, the rest was all positive, the service very good, food very good, prices fair, and certainly a place we will return to, in future excursions. My wife and I had dinner here on New Years Eve. The atmosphere is great and we really liked the old building that is common in downtown Anderson. The waitress was nice and did a great job of attending our table. Unfortunately the food was terrible. My wife had Shrimp Po Boy with Mac and Cheese and I had the Shrimp and Grits with a side salad. The shrimp on both plates were very old with a very pungent smell and way over cooked so that they were like eating rubber. The grits were not creamy at all and more like a solid substrate than what is normal and this is very much what the Macaroni is like also. When trying eat the macaroni my wife literally had to cut the macaroni apart. This is a great building with huge potential and all the staff seemed very nice but the food is just really bad. read more

Visited Doolittles for dinner 10/2017. A new place in Anderson, so decided to give it a try. Quaint inside, probably an old store front in the day. Menu somewhat limited. Decided on a light meal, ordered the hot turkey sandwich, which to me meant, a turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes and gravy. Nope! Got 2 white slices of bread lightly toasted with some kind of cranberry sauce, (a tiny bit) on the bread. That's it, just 2 pieces of bread, what looked like plain old pre packaged sliced meat from the local grocery store (maybe 3 slices of meat). Not fresh carved turkey, no garnishments, no lettuce, no pickle, no tomato, no French fries, no potato chips NOTHING! If this were my place, meals would be home made, not skimpy like Subway. Good luck to you, but I think you need to step things up a lot to earn my business back. read more

Doolittles has been one of my favorite restaurants in Anderson as the food has always been very good. I heard that their turkey dinner for lunch on Thursdays was excellent so I couldn't wait to order mine today. My friend and I placed our order 50 minutes after they opened for lunch and they were OUT OF mashed potato; we ordered the turkey dinner anyway and I substituted fries. The dinners arrived; the fries were soggy, the dressing had rock-hard bread cubes in it and everything on the plate except the fries was wayyyyy too salty. Disappointing is an understatement. read more

Ohhh if only a 0 star was available. Wife and I go in on a Friday but not crowded. Waited less the 5 mins to get a seat. Hostess and waitress were very pleasant and nice. Down hill from there. 45 mins later or longer waitress finally ask if we are ok and we say no still waiting on our food. She tells us it's on its way. She goes to the kitchen and brings out an order that is no where close to ours. Takes it to the table it is suppose to be. Goes and talks to the bartender, I'm assuming the manager, then finally comes back saying "the printer broke so our order didn't go through". Little to say we left, not going to wait any longer. Manager never came to apologize. Waitress, we are assuming lies, because we watched tables after us get their food without "printer issues". Piss poor to say the least. Doolittle's is the new face of the new owner of what used to be Main Street Deli. The service was great, and other than being a bit loud (a side effect of the vintage brick walls) it was a comfortable and inviting environment. We ate from their dinner menu, and were very pleased with the focused and much-improved menu. Their selections are not many, but that is what makes them shine. They focus on solid, good-tasting food. I had an Oyster Po Boy sandwich that was honestly the best I've had. While the oysters were not as abundant as I would like, the flavor was outstanding, and the breading was so light that it really let the flavor of the oysters pop through. My wife had a hamburger that was one of the best we've had in a long time, and despite the overwhelming majority preferring over-cooked meat in this region, the burger was cooked a perfect medium rare. And the French fries were cooked as good as any top-notch Chicago-style French fry (the benchmark for a good fry, IMHO) The price is low to moderate read more

We have been before, but have not been recently. My husband and I were there tonight the waitress was very friendly and service was excellent. Very busy, we had the shrimp and grits , and the scallops. With soup , and garden salad. The food was coming out of the kitchen pretty fast, my shrimp and grits was moderately spiced , big portion, my husband's scallops were cooked properly. I have worked at a number of restaurants, most of them fine dining. So when I say a restaurant is exceptional, trust me that it is. This is my favorite restaurant. Everything I've ever had was delicious. Freshly prepared, exquisitely seasoned, perfect. My brother went to college at College of Charleston, where she-crab soup is a THING. Dolittle's she-crab soup blows them all away. We go out to eat all the time, but at least once a week, we come here. Do yourself a favor and try it. You won't be disappointed. read more

Very disappointed - spoiled food and poor service. I went for an afternoon appetizer. I ordered the spinach quesadillas with guacamole. My friend ordered the "old bay" steamed shrimp. My quesadillas arrived with sour cream and pico, but no guacamole. I asked for some and it arrived 1/2 way through the meal. I should not have even tasted it - it was brown. Guacamole is not brown unless it is old. I tasted it and it was drenched in lime juice. When I told the waitress, she said "that is how we do it." After that she became even more surly. My friend's shrimp was bad - mushy, with an off smell. He sent it back after eating one. The manager came out and said he tasted it and indeed it was bad. He replaced it with a fresher batch. However, I never did receive any fresh guacamole. read more

We had a party of 5 when we visited. We all enjoyed our meals very much. Our choices involved the salmon entrée, beef entrée , fish and chips and the cheese burger with chili and fries. My family and I ate here in March 2013. We waited for nearly an hour for lunch - soups and sandwiches. The service was sparse even though we were only the third table of people. My soup and grilled sandwich were both cold, and soup tasted like it had turned. For the price, keep walking to Summa Joe's or Sullivan's. read more

My husband and I went here for lunch on Saturday. We started with chicken quesadillas which were great! Our server (Cici-- hope I'm spelling that correctly!) was super sweet and attentive. The bartender made the best bloody mary I've ever had! My husband didn't like the fish tacos, but my pasta was good. The only reason I didn't give a five star rating is because of cleaningness. We were seated at the last two top table on the right in the rear of the restaurant next to a louvered petition. I had the peel and eat shrimp which I promptly stop eating after the first shrimp....they were spoiled. The shrimp were mushy and stunk to high hell. My friend ordered the chicken quesadilla appetizer which according to the menu, came with sour cream, pico and guacamole . When his plate arrived it did not have any guacamole so he asked the waitress to bring some. Now we know why it was left off the original plate .....it was brown. My buddy had to literally deposit the bit in his napkin. I would never order seafood of any kind from this place. We were in town last week and in a bit of a time crunch. Our waitress was sensitive to this need and got us in and out of there quickly! The food was yummy to boot. Delicious Tuscan sausage and spinach soup -we each had sandwiches: the Ruben, Ham and Gouda cheese and a Philly Cheese Steak. We are headed back in March and are looking forward to eating there again- my only complaint is that they are not open later during the weekends. read more

We ate at Doolittles on Mothers Day. I cannot even say enough about how awesome the food was. I ate the East salad. It was probably the best salad I've ever had. My husband ate the Crabcake Benedict. I don't even like Crabcakes but tasted it and was WOW'd by it! We had banana rum bread pudding for dessert. It was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted. The first time we went to Doolittles was a few years ago and we thought it was ok. This was our second time and was so impressed, it will probably be our new go-to restaurant everytime we go out. My daughter is very picky and was also impressed. The staff was very nice and the owner stopped by our table to check on us. I highly recommend trying it. read more
