Heuvos Rancheros

Cali resident and native Texan. I come to Lexington yearly for a business trip and always add Doodles to my list. Its clean, wholesome, and delicious food. I always feel good after breakfast, which is unlike the typical 2k calorie Denny's feast. I usually get the Heuvos Rancheros and am always happy with my choice. We usually get a order of beignets for the table and always convert some fans with the order Service is quick and the atmosphere is a great lunch vibe.

Pancakes

A cute breakfast place feels like a college place. Ordered pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The food was good, but not excellent. Because someone mentioned that they can make pancakes crispy, I requested crispy pancakes, but they came out just darker than usual not crispy. They tasted fine, but I would've preferred them to be not so burnt. I did like that they had cornbread taste to them. Service was very pleasant.

What a great breakfast place! Good atmosphere. Great food. Had the biscuits and gravy plate with eggs and fried potatoes. It was delicious. Highly recommended.

Great little casual breakfast place close to campus with parking. You order at the counter, then sit and they bring the food to your table. It's mostly standard breakfast items, but a few interesting adds, like beignets and side item options that include spicy fries or cheese grits. We tried a few different items. For me, it was the BELT, basically a BLT was egg and cheese grits as the side. It was pretty good. I'm glad I tried the grits, although they weren't quite my thing. Others ordered the Cure breakfast with fries, a breakfast sandwich with breakfast potatoes and the Little Egg Doodle. Everyone enjoyed our food and we compared it with breakfast the day before (I rated 5 stars) and we were mixed on which meal was better. For me, this is solid 4. My girls said the bacon was really good. The place is old fashioned cozy, but nothing special inside. Wood table felt a little sticky. You get coffee or drinks yourself and water/soda is a large acrylic glass. Nothing wrong with any of that, but you get the feel. Menu is good, food is solid, service is fast, and prices are reasonable. The beignets were good, because it's a beignet and who doesn't like a warm doughnut with powdered sugar, but it wasn't a great beignet, just a decent one. I would go back and I could see this as a regular for students on a weekend.

An almost completely self service establishment located in a really cool refurbished automobile garage that asks for a tip when you order your meal at the counter. That is annoying. The food is very well prepared and I loved my Doodle (it's a popeyed egg with a biscuit). It was so good we went out of our way to visit a second time. It's also important to say this restaurant values inclusivity. That makes this place even more special and worth the trip.

Thought there'd be more to do in Lexington, so, though not really a breakfast eater decided to kill some time at this recommended place. Tried the beignets which I thought were better than average. The highly touted Jonny cakes which for sure are not my thing didn't convince me otherwise... still not my thing. The acoustics are horrible and it was loud, perhaps try the outdoor seating.

Great breakfast place in Lexington. Sometimes it does gets crowded, so do expect a line. Most of the times the lines goes quick. You order up front and then you go and pick a table. There are lots of outdoor seating and I was surprised by decent parking spaces as well. I got the Cajun shrimp and grits and they were great!

The most delicious biscuits and gravy! I eat this as my favorite meal no matter the day! #BirthdayBreakfast

I absolutely recommend Doodles for breakfast, brunch, lunch, late lunch, whenever!! I have tried multiple plates here and not one has let me down! I recommend this place to all my friends and this who come in from out of town! There is an inside and outside seating option for those who prefer one over the other! The ambiance is warm and inviting, the service is friendly, and the food is out on the table in a timely manner!

I love local Lex restaurants but Doodles was a dud. The biscuits and gravy lacked flavor, the biscuits seemed like smashed rolls, and the over easy eggs were overcooked. The rolls a/k/a biscuits were charred black and had a burned flavor. I hate giving a local restaurant a bad review but Doodles was a huge disappointment.

Been some time since last visit. Both of our meals were excellent & it was excellent day to set on patio. Will have to this up in our rotation...

Visited this location with my co-workers...Ample parking, clean restrooms, and quick service. The food was really good, too.

The food was very good. Lots of flavor. The restaurant was very busy. Looks like it might have been a service station in its earlier life. You place your order at the counter and then find a place to sit and eat. They will not take your order unless there are tables available or you are ordering to go. I loved the atmosphere, you could watch thee food preparation. Soft drinks, coffee are self served. Looking forward to coming back. I believe there hours are 8am to 2pm.

Great brunch served in a repurposed gas station. The menu is interesting. It's counter-service. The bathrooms could use more repurposing.

Well, apparently I beat the breakfast rush because by 8:30, people were steadily pouring in! Families coming in for breakfast, customers grabbing takeout orders, and others settling in to eat. Mind you, it was only 8:30 on a SATURDAY morning and they just opened! The place is giving industrial-chic breakfast spot with a little urban character! I especially liked the hanging Edison-style lights, exposed brick, high ceilings, and the colorful skyline mural above the door. There's a nice mix of booths, smaller tables, and larger communal seating, plus garage-style glass doors that open onto an outdoor patio. They were closed during my visit since it was a chilly morning, but I imagine it's a great setup when the weather cooperates. Ordering is done at the counter, where you're given a number to take to your table, and your food is brought out once it's freshly prepared. I was impressed with how efficiently everything ran. Even with a steady flow of customers, the line moved incredibly quickly, orders were coming out promptly, and everything seemed very organized. I went with the Build Your Own Breakfast Sandwich, choosing a medium-fried egg, cheddar cheese, and smoked paprika aioli on a brioche bun, along with some hot tea. My sandwich arrived in about five minutes, piping hot, with perfectly melty cheese and a soft, delicious brioche bun. Simple, fresh, and exactly what I wanted for breakfast! They also have several other breakfast options, and can we talk about that bakery display for a second?! Fresh baked bread, Cinnamon rolls, caramel pecan pastries, croissants, and other sweet treats that looked absolutely delicious. Definitely tempting, especially when you're standing right there trying to place your order! Between the food, the atmosphere, and how smoothly everything ran despite the morning rush, DV8 Kitchen made a great first impression. A cute little breakfast find in Lexington, and I'd happily stop in again!

We loved this adorable little biscuit breakfast spot!! :)…read more We spent a weekend away in Nashville but came back through Lexington to visit a couple of distilleries as we made our way back North. Nashville really turned us on to the biscuit breakfast so when we saw that Lexington had some choices we knew we had to try! We stopped into Biscuit Belly on a recent Wednesday morning on our way out of town and were greeted with the nicest staff, waiting to take our order. We had a few questions and the man at the register was super knowledgeable and extra kind!! When we stop into a new place, my husband and I enjoy ordering a couple of different options and sharing so we can both try more things in one visit! :) The biscuit belly choices made this difficult, so many items look amazing!! My husband ordered the Mama's boy and I ordered the Fire in your Belly! Both of the sandwiches were delicious! The Mama's boy had the most tasty jalapeño pimento cheese and the perfect accompaniment, a fried green tomato on top!! This was a great combo! The Fire in your belly felt like a more simple sandwich, with less on it, but the flavors went so well together, it ended up being our favorite!! The cheddar cheese really brought everything together so nicely!! Both also came with delicious pickles which doesn't sound like it fits into a breakfast entree, but it truly did!!! :) We enjoyed both the loaded tots and cheesy grits on the side! If you get a chance to stop into a Biscuit Belly sometime, I would definitely make your move!! ;) We don't have places like this up North and that's a sad, sad thing!!

Our friendly waiter kept things moving. It was happy hour (3-6pm) so we got drinks at a reduced price. The menu had so many tempting choices it was difficult to choose. On a Sunday night, there was a wait, but we were able to snag two seats at the bar. The bartenders were great--I wish I remembered their names! They made some excellent food and drink recommendations and were very attentive. We started with a Caesar salad to share, which isn't pictured, and then ordered two pasta dishes that we absolutely devoured. Everything was delicious! The following day, we discovered that many restaurants are closed on Mondays, so we ended up at Carson's again. This time, we decided to check out the back porch. We were expecting a similar menu, but the back porch seemed to focus more on meat and fish options, while we were looking for sandwiches. So, we relocated to the main dining area at Carson's without a reservation. Thankfully, the hostess was able to seat us but let us know that we would need to be finished dining by 7 p.m., which wasn't a problem for us. Our server was great, and we started with the goat cheese appetizer, which was absolutely incredible! Unfortunately, my Buffalo chicken sandwich was drenched in Buffalo sauce to the point that I couldn't really enjoy it. My spouse and I also decided to share sides of the mac and cheese and smoked Gouda broccoli. I was pretty disappointed with both because they were heavily covered in truffle, which I personally don't like. Because of that, I wasn't able to enjoy my second meal here as much as I had hoped. Nonetheless, I would still recommend checking out Carson's. There are plenty of menu options, and our first experience was fantastic. Based on my two visits, though, I would strongly recommend making a reservation if you plan to dine here!
