Prices are definitely on the high side though, especially considering the experience. The customer service is consistently uncomfortable. Today my kids ordered donut holes and were told they were out, then asked for a glazed donut and got a response of "We have three kinds, what do you want?" in a tone that felt more irritated than helpful. My son recommended the Donut House in Anacortes and we happily stopped by before our whale watching excursion! Parking is slim and the line out the door- which means it's good! The donuts were piled in the glass case and speedracks were full off more baked goods within view. I spotted the various long johns, Bavarian cream filled ones and knew that would be a winner. They also had long skinny "fruit rolls" and I was intrigued! Something new to try! The consensus was Bavarian cream (chocolate iced- like a Boston Cream), assorted crullers & old fashioned donuts! And my random lemon fruit roll. We all picked 2 and all ate one to start before piling back into the car to hit the local farmers market before starting our day! Thank goodness they have the best donuts. The staff rarely smile if ever. Here they work in a happy place selling fab donuts and they definitely aren't service with a smile. And god forbid if they accidentally give you the wrong item and you only catch it when you get in the car and open box to see not what you asked for so go back in to correct. I came to Donut House in Anacortes earlier today, Saturday 6 May 2023, to try a donut or two. A couple of large white vans were parked out front, so I went with street parking. The people from the vans were standing outside the front door of the donut house obstructing entry via the stairs to everyone not in their group. I followed a different group up a side ramp and into the building. Upon entry I noticed that some of the donuts were rather large, so I decided to go with one of the larger blueberry fritters instead of two of the smaller donuts. The worker behind the counter was quick on her feet, carefully executed my order, and thoughtfully asked if I wanted napkins and provided the perfect amount for eating the donut (meaning I used them all, and did not need more, when eating). The blueberry fritter I got was $5.50, massive, and I would ballpark guess about 1,400 calories for one. Since I paid with a five and a one dollar bill, I tipped the change. I ate the whole thing in one go, in part to see if I could finish it, and it has stuck with me for a few hours. The fritter was thick, lightly dense, the exterior slightly crispy, and the interior fluffy. Small blueberries were speckled throughout. Pink, pink-purple, and purple swirls of blueberry juice in the fritter made it a colorful as well as a delicious sweet eat. read more

Third visit--this time we got the blueberry bear claw and the blueberry fritter, so we could try them side by side and determine which one is better. At $5.99 apiece, I had second thoughts about ordering the apple fritter. That seems so spendy and my thrifty husband would not approve. But apple fritters are his favorite and they looked so good and they were massive so I bit that bullet and bought two of them to bring home to him. He called them the absolute best apple fritters that he had ever had. Not only were they delicious fresh but given that they are as big as your face those two apple fritters have lasted us for days and they are still absolutely delicious four days later. I live on Orcas and occasionally get donuts from here ,, it's really hard to pass it they are amazing !!!! But yesterday I went in to get a dozen for a special treat for my friends and I could not believe I got a dozen and a couple apple fritters and it was $60!!!! I was like this is getting insane for donuts!! I could have bought a speciality cake! Then I get home and because they are packed sideways against eachother the chocolate has melted off and half don't have the chocolate ‍ so I realize we all have to make a living but good lord that's nuts for a donut! We moved from this area a few years ago and came back to visit and this place definitely went downhill. First off, the lady behind the counter (a bigger lady, didn't catch her name) was incredibly rude to all the costumers that came in, and we witnessed her give an attitude to a costumer for not being "specific enough". Second off, the donuts are no where near as good as they used to be. And sadly the building is not longer fully purple taking away the fun charm. Extremely disappointing. read more

They offer donuts and similar items. The service is good and they have a drive through station as well as counter service. On my way to Anacortes Ferry terminal used the drive thru to order coffee and donut. Very convenient. Strong, hot coffee. Warm, gigantic Blueberry Fritter and Almond Bear Claw. I highly suggest getting the jalapeño cream cheese on top, it is the perfect amount of spicy and flavorful. Get their quick though, because they can be sold out of this early in the day. Back in the 80'$ I was a baker for 7 years. When it comes to donuts I am critical. A lpt of donut shops use typical fillings, male typical flavors and do not stand out. The donut house is not typical. I ordered a Black Cherry donut. Let me tell you, it was not boring, cheap filling. This was more like pie filling. The filling filled the entire donut and I mean every bite. The donut was thick and fantastic. I also ordered a mocha to drink. Well done.
