Five months ago, on a Saturday or Sunday, my boyfriend and I had lunch at The Baked Cafe. The burgers were good, the buns were mediocre, and the fries were outstanding. The meal was over $40, without drinks. The owner was the only person working. After reading other reviews, we expected a wait, but over a half hour was excessive. There are only two booths, and we were lucky to get one. Because of this, you may end up taking your food to go or eating outside. I left a honest review after our experience, and the owner responded (more like reacted) quite unprofessionally. He mentioned Wednesdays; we were not there on a Wednesday. He mentioned that if we prefer "nutty" (it's Nutty's) or "five guy" (it's Five Guys), that he "felt sorry" for us. Well, I won't feel sorry for him when his business fails.

I think I've reviewed the burger before and maybe the sandwiches but today it's about the tots. Best tots in WA. Cooked to perfection yes but also lightly dusted with some flavorful spices to make it more than just some potatoes. Anyway there's plenty of seating around the bakery we just happen to get things to go on the way off island.

I came for the food -- in my case a Reuben sandwich stuffed to the gills -- and coleslaw, though obviously most people choose fries in one of the available variants. Both the sauce on the sandwich and the slaw had a kick to them - a hint of heat that added to the whole. The food was promised for 15-minutes, but took less than 10 -- I like it when promises are kept or even exceeded. The pub had three distinct seating areas: outside in the courtyard, outside under a deck (sheltered, with transparent vinyl sheeting to block the wind, and inside. This is a place where you order and pay at the bar, then find yourself a seat. It's not fancy, it's not upscale, but it's solid with good food and brews. The service was friendly and competent, but young and a touch overly enthusiastic (I'm not fond of being repeatedly called "my man" - not so much because it's excessively familiar - which it is, but because the enthusiastic repetition of the phrase at every chance is a bit forced and formulaic).

Counter ordering as you come in, quick, helpful and patient while I tried to keep my dog behaved and figure out what to eat. I landed on the prime rib dip - the absolute BEST I've ever had. The pretzel bun texture alone is to die for, slightly crisp outside with a light and soft inside. The au jus loaded with onions (love!), and choice of fries, tots, or side salad. They have so many unique options on tap, but for us non-tap drinkers they have decent options for white abd red wine and champs. Bundled outside, I had the most attentive service as a party of one plus my furry compadre. So kind, personable, genuine connection between 4 different staff members! Aside from the ridiculous prime rib dip I'll be dreaming of, the kindness of the staff is unmatched.

They can set you up at the park gate if you don't have one yet. They're also a Friday - Sunday operation. Great weekend spot. Anyway I've had their biscuits and gravy before and liked it a lot- this time I knew I'd be having biscuits and gravy later in the week so I went for the Eggs Benedict with thick cut bacon and home fries my partner had almost the same but with veggie sausage instead- we asked and it sounds like the veggie sausage is made by a small business so that was exciting. The english muffins are homemade and you can tell- the eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive- and even recommended their favorite items while we decided what to order. The dining room is nice- it feels like eating in someone's private cabin- and the view from the tables outside or near the window is beautiful. They have baked goods you can take to go if you're planning on staying in the park a little while longer.

We were served by Cindy who took amazing care of us. She even spoke a little Tagalog to make us feel at home.
