Stopped by for the first time to pick up a few donuts for tomorrow morning. Picked up a couple glazed French crullers, a couple vanilla crullers and 2 apple fritters. Couldn't resist trying one of the vanilla crullers before posting a review. Donut was outstanding. Soft, moist and sweet. A few places for indoor seating, no outdoor seating. Though I did not take them up on it, they sell chocolate milk! Very patient individual helping customers (some people act as though they are picking a 30-year mortgage) and not just a dozen donuts. Place has been around awhile, frills and sprinkles are on the donuts, not the shop itself. read more

Made a pitstop to Darren's Donuts to grab some donuts. It's nearby COA Mexican Eatery & Tequila. We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (12:30pm). Good selection of raised, cake and fancy donuts were still available. Prices are reasonable ranging from $1.75 USD to $3.00 USD. - 1/2 dozen ($12.00 USD) - maple old fashioned, maple French cruller, glazed, apple fritter, lemon and raspberry buttermilk. Glaze was light and airy. Cruller was solid. Apple fritter was decent. Least favourite were the buttermilks. Would return to DD for more donuts. read more

When I pulled up to Darren's Donuts on the afternoon of Wednesday 3 May 2023, the parking lot was packed and my heart dropped. What if they were out of donuts. I looked for parking and went with a spot on a strip neighboring a Mexican restaurant with its windows open. Next, I approached the door. Looking through the glass, my heart bounced back up, did my eyes deceive me or... I opened the door... heart still happy, my eyes did not deceive me, there were no customers in the store AND they still had donuts. Turns out the cars in the parking area were for the nail salon that shares the building with Darren's Donuts. A worker quickly approached and asked what I wanted. I went with the only remaining French cruller option, a maple French cruller. The price was $2.70, I paid with three one dollar bills and tipped the change. It was absolutely delicious. The donut was light and slightly greasy in a good way and the maple flavor was rich and icing not too thin. It marked my first time having a French cruller of any kind and I was satisfied with my experience. read more

Well, looking at the page this business is Unclaimed, and I'm starting to see a pattern in business that are not claimed and it's issues like this. We pulled off the freeway for donuts and got here to a closed business. A sign in the window said they were closing from July 3's to August 7th. McDonalad's said it best, you deserve a break, but if you are gone that long, you should really update Yelp or have a website with a message. I'll stop here and just say, lousy way to manage a business. read more

WOW! This is the type of donut shop I am always excited to find. A small family owned business who puts out fresh quality donuts with a large selection. They're a bit spendy but what isn't these days. The maple bar, the cinnamon crumb, and the cake sprinkle donuts are what we got and we were all over the moon with our choices. The gal behind the counter was a delight. Very friendly and personable. The ambience was exactly how you'd want it, simple and clean. On Monday, April 15, 2024, at 5:20 pm I drive to Darren's Donuts expecting to buy a delicious donut. But before driving to Darren's Donuts, I check on Google to see if they are open. On their store hours, it said "5 am-6 pm" so I made my way, excited to buy a maple bar donut. To my surprise when I get there, it is closed. They were closed 40mins before closing time on their store hours. The deception, heart break, gut wrenching feeling I felt to find out that I would not be able to eat one of their delicious, soft, amazing donuts. With all this being said, I believe they should stop breaking people's hearts by lying to them and they should update their hours if they're closing earlier, or ran out of donuts. I understand if the donuts ran out or they had to close earlier, but this should be said. It is a heartbreaking feeling knowing you were on your way, excited, to just find out they're closed. The donuts here were good, but the service suck. I came here in the morning around 7 am and the guy that was helping people was plain rude. If you don't want to be there then stay home, and don't take it out on everyone else. I will take my business elsewhere. The donut shop itself is filthy and needs a good scrub down. Like most good donuts worth their salt, they run out early, so get their early for the best selection! The maple bar was amazing, soft and sweet and still a little warm. The cake donut, chocolate frosted with chocolate sprinkles, of course, was also tasty. Both were nice and light (in texture, not calories!!). The. Best. Donut. In. Washington. I stopped here on the way to Edison/La Conner. Was craving donuts so I Yelped the general area. This place looks like the standard whatevers donut shop, but the pictures looked good and the reviews sounded good so I decided to make the stop. I got the plain glaze donut - the simple flavor combined with the crazy texture made it perfect. It wasn't too sweat or underflavored. It's on the doughier side and is so soft in the middle - melts in your mouth! My only regret is just starting to eat it on the freeway so we couldn't turn back and get more. I'll be making excuses to drive this far north more often :) read more

I am so fortunate to move to the wonderful city of Mount Vernon and to discover one of the best non-chain donut shops. My husband says the apple fritter is amazing but I am partial to their bear claw and old fashioned chocolate version. Heading there now, it is time to try something new. This was exactly what I needed after a devastating and thoroughly disappointing trip to Voodoo Donuts. So overrated that my faith in the northwest doughnut was completely destroyed. We stopped here at about noon on a Saturday, fully expecting to find the dregs that have been sitting there for 6 hours. To our surprise the racks were fully stocked and still a little warm. I don't know if that's a regular thing or we just got lucky, but we sure did love it. Cake donuts, Apple fritters, and maple bars were enjoyed by all. I happened upon this place about 10 years ago and I've been spoiled by these donuts so that I don't want any others. The donuts there are an amazing dichotomy of light fluffiness in the dough, yet still dense enough to be substantial. The outside has a delicious crispness to it and the inner soft part is like perfection. The donuts are large, but not too big. Seriously trust the 5 star reviews. The crawlers alone are so freaking incredible. It's a shame they only have them Wednesday and Sunday. But they are the absolute best doughnut place I've been too. I found Darren's Donuts on Yelp and glad that I stopped by on the way to a meeting. I brought these donuts in for a training session at work and the donuts were a huge hit. The donuts were so soft and delicious, they exceeded my expectations. I wish I lived closer to this place but will definitely stop by whenever I am up in the area again. Also the staff there were super friendly! Make sure to stop by early. I got there at 8AM and their case was half empty. They told us they would have fresh donuts within 5 minutes so we waited but BEWARE if you don't have the time to wait. read more
