These donuts are amazing. Delicious enough for me to drive 35 min for one way and another 35 min back...so good. The donuts are smaller than other speicality donuts but dont worry bc they are full of flavour in every bite. Not overly sweet. With a nice cake texture. Every bite was on point and flavourful. They have a wide variety of specialty flavours and what appeals to me is that you can pick and choose among what is in stock. I had the ube coconut and the devon grey and they were so so so so so so so so so goooooooddd! Better than any donuts i have had in alberta or bc! The flavours are intense and you get a delicious burst in your mouth with every bite. Worth the drive for but i wish they were in edmonton. If they came to the farmers market they probably would make a killing and outsell any of the edmonton donut shops. I wish i had tried these earlier. A coworker posted a picture of the donuts on her Facebook page, and I was instantly drawn in by the different colors. I'm not usually a fan of cake donuts but these ones - WOW. They're dense, but in a good way, they don't feel heavy, I like the subtle crispiness of its outside, and they're generously covered in uniquely flavored, delicious icing. And, to top it off, who woulda thunk that these babies are also vegan!?!?! I had these donuts a day later, and they were still good - not hard or stale at all. Frickin' Delights is a frickin' delight! They always has 6 different donuts available at any given time and I've yet to try a flavour I didn't like. So far the strawberry one is my favourite. They are always fresh and moist and seem to keep well overnight (they never last much longer than that!). No only does Frickin' Delights have vegan donuts, they also have a fully vegan lunch menu that includes various comfort foods like chili and mac and "cheese". They have the most amazing dill pickle soup. Seriously! I might love it more than I love the donuts!. I always thought Devon was far, but it's really not that bad of a drive. And when you know you get donuts at the end, it's a surprisingly good motivator. :) It's a bright, cheery cafe in a small strip mall where you walk up to the counter/display case to order. Everything is vegan and aside from donuts and hot coffee/tea, there's a small menu that includes dill pickle soup (so intrigued!!). We ordered a couple donuts to try as well as a cappuccino and Devon Fog. Sooo good! The donuts were light and fluffy and not too sweet. They were busy though, so of the 6 ish choices on the menu, only 4 weren't sold out. By the time we left, they only had 2 flavours left. We even noticed people coming in to pick up orders they called in ahead, so if you want a specific flavour they mentioned on their social media, get there early or call first. We ended up buying a half dozen to take home with us and they were still great the next day. They're comparable in price to other fancy donut places in town, but they are smaller in size. Our plan was so simple. We wanted to go to Bunchberry Meadows to hike or snowshoe and then to Freckin Delights for a well deserved donut. We arrived 20 minutes before they closed only to find the donut display empty. . We were told that they still have dill pickle soup so since I've never had soup based on pickles before I ordered two. It was delicious and unique. I would describe it as potato chowder with dill pickles but either way we both enjoyed it. Although we were disappointed to miss out on the donuts it speaks well of the café that they do run out of things as that means that they only serve fresh food. I'm surprised that I've never reviewed this place! I went a few days ago and have been thinking about my next one ever since. I have tried a fair share of their donuts. A friend and I always pick up a 6 pack, a coffee and sit down and test them all out. The donuts themselves are the most incredible batter. They have a slight little crisp to them and when you break it in half it's the softest and lightest center which is like a spiced cake. INCREDIBLE!! then the delicious flavours they make them.. even better honestly I haven't had a bad flavour. Now they even have food!! the donair was great, the fries were fabulous, and I used to get the NYC bagel which was my fav! This place may be a little bit of a drive but it's so worth it. I always loved stopping by Frickin' Delights way back in the day when they were at The Old Strathcona Farmers Market. While I was living in Dublin I found out Frickin' Delights had opened a cafe in Devon. When I got back home to Edmonton my friend and I decided to head over here for a donut and a coffee. This is a vegan cafe, so all of the donuts, foods, and drinks are vegan. I'm not vegan per se, but I am lactose intolerant so it was great being able to order a latte and not have to worry about, "oh crap is that dairy milk in that pitcher" like I might at a regular coffee shop. Talking to the barista I also found out that the cafe tries to limit their use of soy, so if you are allergic or intolerant to soy (and I am) then most of their food and drinks will be good for you (but obviously double check on specific menu items). The donuts were delicious as always. Whether you're vegan or not if you like yummy donuts in great flavours this is the place for you. The donut flavours change weekly so it's worth following Frickin' Delights on Instagram and Twitter to get the lowdown of what the flavours will be for the week. When I was there I had the Blackberry Earl Grey Donut. So good. If that's on the menu at any point I highly recommend that one. If you don't live in Devon it might seem silly to drive all the way out here for donuts, but trust me it's worth it. The food and drinks here are delicious, the staff is friendly, and the cafe is bright and well decorated. This is a great local gem everyone should check out. read more

This cute little shop is adorable inside. When we pulled up we weren't sure we were in the right place but then we saw the sign. When we walked in, you could see the eclectic selection of cute antique chairs and I felt like it'd be the perfect spot to curl up with a box of donuts and a book! There was a lady who was offering samples of a donut they had made for Rosy farms, the haskip donut. The haskip is a berry that is a mix between a Saskatoon and a blueberry. She had some berries to sample along with the donut creation. I am definitely now on the hunt for these berries because they were amazing! Basically like a target blueberry. They had a selection of 3 vanilla donuts and 3 chocolate flavours. Some of the flavours were Cookies n Cream, Pina coloda and Mayan They're also vegan! We tried all of them and they were all delicious. Their flavours change weekly so make sure to check their Facebook page to know their flavours that week. I also tried the caramel tea latte. It had rabioos tea, caramel shot and steam milk. It was really flavourful and tasted like something you'd get from a fancy coffee shop. read more

Who says you can't get yummy tasting vegan food in a small town! Unbelievable, to me that the whole menu was vegan friendly !! My mom, my sister, and I got to sit down and such a quaint beautifully decorated donut shop. with a surprising twist, unbelievably delicious Dillpickle soup with maple Chyanne cornbread doughnut. If you ever wonder what heaven smells like ?? It's freshly made donuts. Got to try the double coconut donut and a coffee cream doughnut both dense gorgeous delectable donuts that I'm pretty sure Heaven will serve when I get there. Frickin' Delights absolutely live up to their name! It was definitely worth the trip out to Devon to see this brand new boutique gourmet bakery! While they are so newly opened, their external signage wasn't up yet, finding it was easy due to the crowd of people coming and going. Inside, reclaimed barn wood and original artwork decorated the interior. There was a cozy corner with a mismatched set of comfy armchairs - already full with happy customers. Bar style seating and a smattering of kitchen table type seating scattered throughout the restaurant. The selection of donuts was impressive - ten gourmet flavours! I couldn't pick so I bought one of each! The service was quick and friendly. The owners themselves serving donuts and coffee. They clearly have pride and passion in what they do! I got a coffee to wash down the deliciousness. I was excited to see a variety of non dairy creamers. I used coconut milk along with coconut sugar in my regular coffee - pure nirvana! There's also a small menu of meal items: hummus and chips, sandwiches, salads and a menu of specialty coffee drinks like lattes, espresso, mochas. The donuts themselves? These smaller cake donuts had the perfect amount of frosting and were the perfect size due to how dense the cake was. The chocolate earl grey was a chocolate cake donut with earl grey frosting - earl grey is one of my favourite teas and I was happy to discover the earl grey flavour was not overwhelmed by the chocolate. The lemon poppyseed donut was exactly what I was expecting - a lemon poppyseed cake in donut form. Yum! I would love to rate their donuts but am unable to as customer service clearly don't accompany them. I placed an in person order for a dozen donuts for pick-up next day for a scheduled meeting. I arrived the next day and the doors were locked. I understand from sign on the door that they close early if they sell out, which I am guessing was the case but what is puzzling is that not only would one expect that my order would be exclusively reserved for me, but why they didn't even bother to call me. To add to the insult, I left a voice message and sent message on their Instagram account, both of which remain unanswered. They say shop local, small businesses are suffering, etc. but perhaps the reason the ones survive vs the ones that don't is not everyone values their customers. Worth. The. Trip. These donuts are the best I have ever had. Not just the best vegan donuts I've ever had - the best ever. Period. The donuts are dense, tender, and full of flavour, covered with a generous layer of yummy icing. They have dozens of flavours that they rotate through, and I haven't had a bad one yet! The rest of their menu is equally tasty. Highly recommend the chickpea wrap and quinoa salad, both of which will satisfy, but will also leave you with enough room for a donut for dessert. The decor is cute and the staff are friendly and welcoming. They were showing Finding Nemo on the projector when we last visited on a Saturday afternoon. After pining for these amazing doughnuts since the days they used to appear at the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market, I was finally able to make it out to the new Devon cafe and I have so say it was worth the journey. The tasty, creative doughnuts definitely take center stage at the cafe and are absolutely as good as I remember them being. The doughnuts are smaller, cake-ier, and less flashy than some of the trendy, topping-loaded doughnuts that are around town but the inventive flavours and delicious execution really propels Frickin' Delights into the upper echelon of Edmonton (and area) baked goods. I was super impressed with the food at the cafe as well. I got the chili and mac and cheese, both of which were delicious vegan treats. The hearty meal barely left room for the amazing dessert, but naturally I made the sacrifice to eat it all. The menu also featured some soups and wraps that I'll definitely be back to check out. The cafe is decorated quaintly and the staff is friendly, although it seems a little chaotic behind the counter when it gets busy in there. It will most likely be a hollow and empty shell of an approximation of what a real donut tastes like." Nope...better. Easily ranked in the top 3 best donuts I've ever had. Anywhere. Ever. The donut itself is wonderfully moist and cakey, the icing is always flavourful and not too sweet, and the unique and creative flavours are always delicious and fun. Second, the owner and staff are wonderful. Down to earth. Laid back. Diverse. Stereotypically Canadian, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's always a joy whenever I come by! Third, if you aren't thrilled by the idea of coming out to Devon just for donuts (which I've done many times before because it IS worth it), you can make a day trip out of it by checking out the beautiful Devonian Botanical Gardens, the river valley, or playing a round of golf at the local course. I heard about this place from some coworkers of mine and also a vegan friend so swears by the donuts. Being a donut aficionado (at least I like to think so) I had to check it out for myself. Tucked away to the side, this cafe is located in a strip by a bicycle repair shop and florist just off of Athabasca Avenue. It has a cute, country chic feel to it.
