New ownership...same stars Perhaps changed owners a couple of times since the previous owner moved on. Gone is the cigarette display that sat vacant for like forever. In its place is new signage and picture menu and wait for it...boba. Heard on the DL that the Vietnamese coffee packs a wallop and will take you through the day. At one point, Donut Basket selection included designer, trendy, over-the-top donunts. You know topped with cereal and whatnot. Glad to see those slowly disappear. Trendy continuing is the ube ride and red velvet. But I'm loyal to the old school and just keep it within the glazed, old fashioned, cruller, custard/jelly filled variety. Coffee is still on point. I did get a breakfast sandwich and one point. Basically their croissant, egg, cheese and bacon. There are others. Nothing remarkable, but convenient. A little pricey but manageable. New owners not necessarily into small talk but friendly and helpful. read more

Came here on a Sunday at 11am and they were closed. It says their hours were updated (because of COVID) and I saw other people in recent reviews say they were open. On their Yelp, it says that their hours are 5am-3pm and then in a photo someone posted, the hours said they're open from 5am-2pm. No sure which one is more reliable, but regardless we were there at 11am and they were closed. I've only heard great things about Donut Basket and I've been planning on trying it. I guess I'll have to visit a different location. read more

I ordered an assorted dozen. Thinking I would get an assorted box, they gave us all old fashion donuts. Really? Who wants a box of 12 old fashion donuts. No one. Covid compliant: I just got home from visiting Donut Basket again and I still stand by my 5 star review. There were patrons in the store and I had walked in and waited at the first red line marker towards the wall, the worker behind the counter kindly asked me to please wait outside since they're only allowed to have two patrons inside at a time. I was glad to do so, and when I looked at the door it stated what she told me, which was that only two people were allowed inside. That was my fault as I did not look at the capacity marker on the door and I'm glad to report that they are taking the pandemic seriously and putting everyone's health first. Food: I got 3 donuts, a maple and chocolate bar, and a raspberry jelly and ALL were so good. They were sweet but not overtly sweet, light and fluffy, and well baked. This, among other reasons, is why I keep coming back and giving good reviews. Random act of kindness: Since the store is small, I could hear the worker and the customer in front of me having a conversation. I only picked up the last portion of their conversation and it was honestly what made me come and update my review. I overheard the worker saying "This sandwich is on the house, no worries." The customer then tried to pay for it but the worker continuously said no it's ok, please take it, it's on the house, I know your mom is sick, I'm sorry she's sick, I will pray for her... The customer then paid for her other items and said thank you and left. LIKE CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! I was so happy when I heard that because it really solidified my thought process on this place. They genuinely want to give good customer service, by no means did she have to prepare a hot breakfast sandwich and give it for free because she knew her regular patron was having a hard time. AND DURING THIS PANDEMIC. Like I'm sure they may not be getting the same amount of business as they were precovid and for them to do that.... it really shows. All in all, they have good quality products, good customer service, and are owned and ran by locals. It's one of the better places to come in and patronize! Awesome people and good donuts. This shop is located in the same plaza as sendai sushi. Before the pandemic, I would sometimes run some errands in the morning and then take my kid in to choose a donut for breakfast. The owners were always helpful and patient. With the pandemic I haven't gone much but they are still serving the community with a smile. I'll try and continue to show my support and exercise so I can keep going. read more

I've come here a handful of times and everytime it has been just as good as the first time. I love the breakfast sandwiches and their iced coffee. Always gives me the perfect fill every morning. It's a family owned business and I went in there during covid after seeing a couple of posts on another app that they serve fresh donuts. We just went for donuts but came back with a full stomach. They have the best croissants and the sandwiches. And the price is so reasonable. Their service is good, the hostess is pleasant and always give freebies. The aroma of all the food inside the shop makes it very difficult to leave the place. A must try if you are looking for fresh breakfast. read more

(Well new as in Milpitas vs. Mountain View, but who is to say the two Donut Baskets are owned by the same person?) Okay let's see what we haaaveee.....Oh. For 11 AM Saturday, this is quite an empty case at 1/3 full. Looks like the typical mom and pop shop so hopefully at least this means the doughnuts are good. Apple fritter: I decided to go for an apple fritter. To be fair, I didn't have much choice besides cake doughnuts and cruellers. The fritter was a little overcooked and had a cinnamony taste. It actually reminded me more of a cinnamon roll. Meh $2. Wouldn't get again. The lady who helped me was nice and threw in some doughnut holes, which I hate to say were also sub-par. I got the chocolate glazed donut and blueberry donut, and she threw in some donut holes for me. She was so nice! All of them were delicious! They were moist and fluffy on the inside. Ive been to this place twice very recently. I've lived in Milpitas many many times, but the only time I ever went near here was to go to Sen Dai which is in the same plaza. Parking in this lot is limited especially during lunch time hours. There are 2-3 spots right in front of the donut shop that is reserved just for the bakery so that folks wanting to eat at Sen Dai don't take up all the parking. It's a small shop--filled with folks in the morning having breakfast and coffee. The service here is fantastic. There's this very nice vietnamese man who is just so upbeat, quick working, and polite. He remembers faces, and remembers which donuts you like. Their blueberry one is my favorite. Not too sweet, moist, and the perfect companion to some coffee when I get to work. A dozen donuts here is around 8 or 9 dollars, which is very inexpensive. Again, the guy who works there is awesome because he tells you how many donuts you've put in and how many you have left. I really appreciate that because I choose a bunch and then I take 3 minutes trying to figure out how many I chose and how many more i can fit in the box. Getting my dozen donuts for work was a easy task, I was in and out of there in less than 5 minutes! This includes getting rung up. If they have a tip jar (which maybe i didnt see) I'd definitely tip them. I've looked for it twice now. I have always found mom and pop donut shops to be the best in terms of both selection but more importantly quality. Even on its best day Dunkin Donuts could never match up to a place like Donut Basket. From their delicious donut holes to their beautifully made and executed cinnamon rolls they take donut making to the next level. In addition the staff is very friendly and their prices are relatively inexpensive. Just keep in mind they are a cash only establishment. The only downside to Donut Basket is that you have to get their early to get the good donuts. Show up at 10am and your not left with much of a selection. SERVICE The service is great here! Very friendly and welcoming people. They always include a complementary doughnut hole per person. PRICES are very fair and affordable. Lower than most doughnut places. You'll see 65, 75, and 85 cent doughnuts! ORIGINAL DONUTS aren't melt in your mouth but they are pretty soft. When you take a bite, you can see they use a lot of good spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. FRENCH RAISED DONUTS come in 4 varieties: glazed, chocolate, maple, and plain. They are my favorite and are fluffy and soft. BLUEBERRY CAKE DONUT You HAVE to try this cake donut! It's like a blueberry muffin in a donut form and it is the perfect small size. The blueberries are small and not too tart. It is lighty glazed so there is a light crispy crust. CROISSANTS are very disappointing, they are good if you want a sandwich because they can hold up, I guess. I have not had their croissant sandwiches yet. But their croissants are $1.25 for a plain and it is like eating thick bread. It is heavy and not buttery, light, and flaky. read more

The customer service is top notch here. It's a family run shop and they are the friendliest! It's always a warm welcome and even when I first visited they made me feel like I've been coming there for years. TBH I'm a big fan of their breakfast sandwiches. Such a good deal and so satisfying! My husband and I always make a pit stop whenever we need something quick. I miss the old management. The couple that was managing this ship. They were so nice and warm to everyone and always give free donuts. Don't get me wrong, the donuts here is good but the management at the moment is not. They will take your order and will not confirm it. I ordered game and cheese and they gave me ham and cheese with egg. When I told them I did not order it, the lady insisted I ordered it. That's one off note there already. Second is i usually order thai tea without ice. But now that I ordered it, when i paid already that's the time that they stated "thai tea is more because there is no ice". Don't get me wrong, i have been working on food chains and they must advise first hand if there is additional parents and confirm the orders before making it.
