I have to say best tacos in Richmond that I've found so far and this is coming from someone who is a Latina. Well let's start by saying the food is so warm when it gets to you and flavors make your mouth water. The tacos just melt in your mouth. My personal favorites are the shrimp and carnitas. I've been around Richmond and I'd def would recommend trying this place out for their tacos you will not be disappointed. We went for a birthday so it was a large group. They did have limited seating so we just hung out in the back by the shuffleboard tables. The food tho! I really like this place and we go a lot. Some of the toppings are too greasy; avoid this by getting either the fish tacos (really great) or the bean tacos. The burritos are also very good - but again, they overdo the meat. There is just a high tolerance for food greasiness in Richmond (they could elevate above that but I also get that you have to give your audience what it wants). We opened up yelp to see what was open since it was about 9pm when we decide to grab dinner on a Sunday night and we stumble upon this spot. They place is super chill and laid back staff is friendly. They're menu is a bit small for my preference but everything sounds tasty. We started off with guacamole, salsa and chips. The salsa was delicious but the guacamole was bland. They have a variety of tacos to choose from.... my bf and I order a mix of pulled chicken, shredded beef, shrimp, fish, and chorizo taco traditional with corn tortillas. My favorite was definitely the pulled chicken, (very surprised) the shredded beef came in second because it was very dry. The shrimp, chorizo, and fish are a bit on the spicy side. They had a Sunday special which consisted of these mugs for $4 with 22oz margarita..... let me just say it was a mint leaf away from being a mojito.... AWFUL! I'm a margarita junkie so I enjoy trying them out. This one was by far the worst. I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. Ps- This is my very first help review! read more

I've been here on 3 different occasions. 2 of those times there was no host/hostess so we stood there for a solid 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged. When finally greeted, they were extremely rude and short with us because it was busy and they clearly didn't have enough people working for the amount of tables they had. Good to have this place back in business. They warn you on online and in person that they're doing a "soft opening," meaning there may be some rough edges in service and in their menu while they work back up to 100% operational. So yes, the service, though friendly, was a little slow today but it was always good at their Carytown location and there's no reason to think it won't be good here, too. I Traveled all the way from Charlottesville to Richmond to eat at this restaurant. Which is give or take an hour and a half just going. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. There is a woman with green hair that I'm assuming is the waitress because she brought my food to the table who is extremely rude and nasty. I ordered two tacos and chips and salsa from the bar. I then go sit at a table where the lady with the green hair brings my order. I asked her if she could bring me a glass of water and she looked at me and rolled her eyes and proceeded to go to the bar to grab me a cup of water. While she's at the bar, I noticed that there were no limes that came with my salsa and chips. When she came back over, I asked her if she could bring me some limes, once again she looked at me, rolled her eyes, and deeply exhaled as if asking for a glass of water and some limes was asking for too much. Now, at this point I've wasted my time, gas money, I'm being treated poorly by staff, and my appetite is gone. I told her not to worry about it and took my food (which I didn't touch) to the bar and asked to speak with the manager. I told him that I wanted my money back due to the waitress with green hair being extremely rude, he said okay, I'll talk to her. There was no, is there anything I can do to make things better? Even after I mentioned to him that I traveled all the way from Charlottesville to come eat here. I guess going outside to smoke a cigarette was more important because that's exactly what he did within a minute of me expressing how I had been treated. My first impression walking in was this is fun local bar. The food is good for the price, drinks are decently made, BUT the music is absolutely terrible!! They play hard metal at a local bar where you have more VCU students and preppy adults looking to play pool and shuffle board with their friends then be in a mosh pit. I'm pretty sure the head bartender Clair runs the music and where most places are the customer is always right, he let it be known the play list was "already set" as if you can't push a button on Spotify and/or iTunes to change the playlist. I come here all the time, alone and with friends. Pool tables and shuffle board are great. Lots of space. Clean bathrooms. Everyone who works here is super cool. Never had an issue. Good prices. We were banned from the restaurant because we tried to move the heat lamp because it was freezing on the patio. The bartender was the most rude person I have ever spoken to. The food was not good. Five stars because the tacos are A-MAZ-ING. I get the tofu and the potato tacos. The tofu is cooked so well with the perfect amount of firmness; I don't like soft tofu. The potato tacos are also delicious. Also love that they stay open late because it's a great place to grab food on the way home after a night out. After my first lunch visit I learned what not to order or how to order better !! Got a shrimp taco and a shredded beef taco, both traditional, an order of chips w/queso and a draft beer. The shrimp was cooked well and seasoned but there were so many red onions I couldn't taste anything else even after scraping most of them off. The shredded beef taco was so dry I used most of my queso poured over it just to get it down. When I asked if I could have a little more queso for my chips I was told yes, but for a charge. Pretty pricey lunch for one...over $25. The person behind the bar was not very interactive....pretty much ignored everyone after the order as placed. Tried to go last night for my birthday since I love their tacos. We walked in and the sign said "order food at the bar." Okay? I guess we were just supposed to awkwardly stand up and eat. There were at least three open tables and the table in front of the window was completely open and they all had a reserved sign on them. We walk over and wait at the end of the bar for about 10 minutes. No one ever came over and said "we'll be right with you" or "sorry we're a little under staffed" No one even looked at us. Very disappointed, the food is great but not worth the non existent customer service. Decided to give them a try. The facility is nice, service was ok, the fish tacos were phenomenal (traditional style, flour)! The chips & salsa were very good, but they cost $2.50! AND a salsa refill is .50! The first serving was barely enough for half the chips, and there was a large chunk of the middle of a tomato in ours, which I told the waitress about, but we were still charged for the second small bowl. Also, iced tea cost $2.50!!!!!! That's ridiculous, and I bet the refills for that weren't free, either. The only other complaint is that the straws aren't individually wrapped, so the waitress, and who knows who else, is handling this straw that is going into my beverage, and THEN she just lays it on the table. So gross! But I will still go back in spite of these issues. read more

I am still sitting here at Don't Look Back waiting on my check and i can honestly say the food was a huge disappointment. When coming to a Mexican place one would expect some form of seasons on the beans and rice but here that is not the case. It was the worst beans and rice I've ever had in Richmond. Which is unfortunate because i loved the old Don't Look Back, the burrito also lacked flavor with little to no seasoning on the meat. it was just an overall a sad experience here. This was my second time at the new location and I was a little disappointed. We waited for about 10 minutes for our waitress (never told us her name, young and blond) once we sat down and she only came over when I flagged down another waitress/host and asked for her. When our waitress finally showed up, she admitted she forgot about us, which is fine, everyone has those days. I'm in the service industry too so I get it. We got chips and salsa and I got shrimp tacos, which were delicious. I ordered a margarita and it tasted like straight tequila, which most of the time is totally fine- more bang for your buck! However, I wasn't feeling the super strong drink so I asked for a taller glass with extra mix in it so I could weaken the taste a bit. I got half a pint glass of margarita mix (just mix- no extra alcohol!) and dumped my drink in. Perfect! However, when I got the check it turns out I was charged an extra $1.50 for the half a glass of mix....what? My server (although very nice & sweet, even after forgetting about us) never told me the mix was extra, and it doesn't say anywhere on the menu that what essentially amounts to a "single tall" margarita is more than a single standard margarita. It was entered as just a general charge on the receipt too, which means it isn't a standard menu add-on or upcharge or anything, and the waitress and/or manager must have consciously decided to charge extra and manually entered a random amount. If I had known watering down my margarita would be more expensive, I wouldn't have asked for extra mix. TL;DR: Buyer beware, apparently management likes to gouge the customers for every penny. Good food, okay service, I'll probably be back because the location is so convenient, but I'll definitely be asking for prices up front from now on! Don't want to accidentally get charged for a cup of ice or something. read more
