Called the most popular place in Ocala to install a gooseneck hitch in my 2024 F250 on short notice. They were swamped and recommended Don's Garage for faster turn around. After setting an appointment, I noticed a few bad Yelp reviews. I spoke to a service manager about my concerns. He assured me the utmost attention would be given to the installation the B&W hitch in my truck bed. I planned to leave the truck for the 4 hour install but the waiting room, although small had a nice smelling candle burning, a space heater keeping it cozy and seating was comfortable enough to stay and work on my computer. All the staff was polite and courteous and even opened my truck door when I was leaving. The cost was better than some of the competitors. If my truck wasn't under warranty I would take it to Don's for service. Highly recommend. read more

Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend this garage and will no longer be using them ourselves. We paid $1700 a year ago to have a new ac system installed, and one year later the compressor failed. It was still under warranty, but they wanted another almost $900 for the labor to replace it. After I called and spoke with them, they lowered it to $760, but I still feel this is not something the customer should be responsible for. Their customer service is also lacking, as they literally laughed on the phone with me and told me this is how a business is run, and parts aren't made like they used to be. So they don't stand behind the parts they install and are willing to lose business over it. read more

We had been customers of Don's Garage for about five years with no issues. This past April when our car was in for 120,000 mile check up and brake replacement, they overlooked leaking struts and bad wheel bearings. Wes at the front blamed it on the mechanic with bad hearing. Fortunately, around this time our transmission gave out and we had to go to A-1 Transmission for a replacement. We were able to transfer our business over to A-1 Transmission for all our needs, because they were the ones who found the other two problems that Don's Garage severely overlooked. read more

Took my F150 into Don's to look at an issue where the transmission kept dropping gears randomly while driving. The service writers were great and knowledgeable. They listened to the issues I was having and gave me information about the issue based on the symptoms I had provided. After having the truck dropped off to them, I received a call the next day letting me know what they had found and options for how to address the issue. After approving the repair the truck was ready the next day and is running great now the issue has not come back and it is truly great to have my truck running properly again. I was driving from South Florida to Ocala and the throttle body on our 2007 Suburban stopped working. I was going up to Ocala to see my father in the hospital. I was on the highway and the truck wouldn't really go above 60 mph and no one on the highway was ok with that. This used to be a credible place to take your car. I was told initially that my car would cost only $300.00. When I showed up it was $975.00. Then I brought my car home and had to recharge the battery twice and found out that they didn't plug in some wires that should have been plugged in. When I called them and asked for help he said..."Well if it is something we did we will fix it if not then you are going to pay." To do this to a WIDOW with two kids is despicable. Took my vehicle in due to it cutting off for no apparent reason. Got it back after overnight stay (my option due to time),and I was told it was fixed. Problem repeated after a couple of days. Called the garage and they took it back in to check. This time it was fixed,for cost of parts and no labor. Unfortunately the labor and cost of the previous parts were not discounted nor applied to new bill. On the upside they are courteous,professional and polite. On the downside they are not cheap in labor cost nor parts. I still use them every now and then due to location. NOTE: Be advised that the original garage was started by "Don" in 1965,and was known for quality work and service. Don sold his business with the name to two new owners. He is no longer involved. Get an estimate to the TOTAL cost,and have them call you if the cost changes. In my opinion they are a good garage,but need to work on being the best. read more

Brought our truck to them and told them we had a coolant leak and and needed ALL fluids changed. Was told we needed a new radiator, no wait we need a water pump, no wait it's the thermostats. Ok so they say they changed out all of these and coolant leak is fixed. Almost $2000 later we pick the truck up. Headed to Pennsylvania we noticed service brake light comes on, then service air bag, oh wait not done yet.... Low coolant level comes on... Yes low coolant, so you ask didn't you just say they fixed that.... Yes that's what they said.... Half way to Pennsylvania we noticed that there was grinding noise coming from the transfer case and the sifter was vibrating.... Get to Pennsylvania and take truck in to see what is going on.... According to mechanic we we're told coolant leak was never fixed it was an old hose a $50 dollar fix.... (Nothing to do with radiator, water pump, or thermostats). Was told that sensors went bad due to clamps being left of after changing of parts in engine compartment causing dirt and debris to get to sensors. Was told that the transfer case was shot due to wrong fluid and over filling. So basically it will cost us another $3000 to fix what they never did and to fix what they messed up. Did I call to discuss this matter... Absolutely was I nice or lady like when I called absolutely NOT!!!! I am waiting to hear from mechanic to find out if any of these parts were actually changed out. I will keep you posted. The new mechanic also said that they have had many pipeliners bring their trucks to them after taking them to other shops and they have fix because all these shops see is $$ signs. Are we pipeliners yes we are. Are we loaded absolutely not. Like everyone else we have bills to pay at home and one the road. Long story short be very aware of who you take you vehicles to. read more
