I gave him the make, model, year, etc. My question to him was simple; in what price range could he provide the service? He became fixated on, "Who told you that it needed a transmission rebuild?" I responded that it was irrelevant to my question. He persisted. I didn't feel like giving him that information so that he could base his price on his knowledge of the reputation of the other shop. When I told him for the final time that he didn't need to know, he responded, "Well then you don't need to know, how 'bout that?" Enter into dealings with this company at your own risk.

My 2008 Toyota Yaris transmission would randomly shift down or out of gear altogether, at between 35mph and highway speeds. Sometimes it would do this and sometimes it would behave properly. It was intermittent. So I didn't know if my tranny was toast and needed a $5000 replacement or could be fixed for reasonable cost. Oh yes, the Electric Power Steering in my Yaris would go in and out as well, separate issue. I brought it to Derek at Transmission Depot, and told him it was not a daily driver, so he could take as long as needed to diagnose and fix the found issues. Derek had team members drive it for errands to get it to misbehave, to assist in the diagnosis. Eventually they decided to replace the speed sensor and crankshaft position sensor. While they were doing that work, they found a couple ground wires to the transmission that needed cleaning up. They drove and tested it some more after those repairs. After another week or so, they decided it was ready for me to pick up. It was fixed!! Worked great and continues to work perfectly! For under $1000, Derek and the Transmission Depot team not only fixed my transmission random shift/slippage issue, but the intermittent electric power steering issue went away as well! Now both the transmission and the steering work perfectly and it's a reliable car again! Thank you Derek and the Transmission Depot crew!

I needed something to help my mother haul things, and I also needed a vehicle that would allow me to pick up furniture and other items from Facebook Marketplace. The van overheated, and smoke and steam were billowing into the air so badly that it looked like the vehicle was on fire. It was scary, but I was able to get a tow to this mechanic, who happened to be the closest shop to where I was stranded. This mechanic could have easily taken advantage of me. I was stranded, stressed out, and completely dependent on them to tell me what was wrong. They could have told me I needed hundreds or even thousands of dollars in repairs, but they chose to do something that unfortunately seems to be becoming harder and harder to find in the auto repair business. They chose to be honest with me. They gave me a fair assessment, explained what was actually wrong, and didn't try to sell me repairs I didn't need. For that, I will not forget them. They earned something far more valuable than a repair bill. They earned my loyalty and my trust. When I find a business that treats people fairly, I'm going to tell people about it.
