Our front breaks started to squeak on our trip from Maine to Florida. Searching online I found AutoMasters and their reviews were very good. I called them and John got me scheduled the next day. The mechanic diagnosed the problem and John provided me a written estimate with pictures. I had the front brake pads and rotors replaced. They got us fixed up in a reasonable time. This place has really gone down hill since Jim left. I took my car in for an oil change before a trip south and when I can back to get it they had a $1800 service bill that they had written up stating that my "axel and bearings are slinging grease" as well as "your oil pan is leaking and the oil drain plug had a lot of fluid around it and needs to be replaced" Ended up taking my car to VW dealerships to have these claims check and my car got a clean bill of health and none of the claims were true. I took my Jeep in to have an oxygen sensor replaced that I had with me. Once they got the new one in they saw it was the wrong one. Which they were right. They said they had to take the area apart once they got the part to replace it again and it would be ANOTHER $200. When they got the part and I was watching from the parking lot...they just put the new part in because the jeep was still apart!!!! Then they put it back together and I of course paid the bill and left. I will say they were friendly but didn't need to charge me for something they didn't do. My brake pedal went all the way to the floor on the way to work this morning. I stopped by the shop to see if they could take a look at it around 1 pm. They had me back on the road in less than an hour and with no charge!!! These folks are amazing. It was a loose brake line. They tightened it up and flushed my brake system. Awesome experience. I'm new to the area and wanted a shop that was reliable and honest like my previous Pennsylvania mechanic. After reading many reviews (FB, Yelp, and others), I decided to try Automasters Service Masters. First positive is that I was able to make an appointment online for the '$49 oil change special'; one quick form and then an email confirmation. When I arrived for my appointment, the kids and I were happily greeted by the service writer at the counter. We left and headed next door for some breakfast. About forty-minutes later on our walk back to the shop, we received a call that the service was done and that they discovered minor corrosion on the battery. I agreed to the repair and the shop quickly got back to work. While waiting those few additional minutes with the children in the shop's clean lobby, shop staff were taking to my kids and offering high-fives. Overall, I was super impressed. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Shop pricing is reasonable and fair. The service was quick (for routine servicing). I'll be back with our minivan and for any other automotive service needs. I was referred to AutoMasters by a trusted local tire shop that does not do alignments. There appears to be a very good rapport among the staff. In my experience a lot can be said about the quality of personnel a shop can keep up front. I would definitely consider this shop on South 441 for future service. Sarah was very friendly and professional on the phone and I was able to get in quickly for an alignment and synthetic oil change. Tom helped me at the front counter. The most honest auto repair facility I've found in the area. I'd been in search of an alternative to the VW dealer and have found it with AutoMasters! I'd had a nagging "check engine light" that was supposedly corrected by the dealer three times, only to have it reappear on the way home. I called our normal repair shop and gave them the details. His estimate was HALF of what she was told at AutoMasters. They came back with an estimate of 2400 and all they found had nothing to do with why I brought the car there in the first place. Great staff - polite, professional, and willing/able to answer questions! Their shop is tidy, and the employees are well groomed, polite, and enthusiastic. They went over their estimate out at my car showing me each item and again answered questions. I ended up getting all repairs done with AutoMasters - and it was cheaper for the same repairs! Absolutely terrible! I took my truck there to have AC vents replaced only to be given back a truck with a huge hole in the dash board and an estimate of $320 to fix it or an offer to glue the pieces together (after just paying $440 to have the AC vents replaced). They blamed it on brittle plastic but there were absolutely NO issues with the dash board when I dropped it off. Clearly their technicians were being too forceful with the dash which is what caused the clips holding the dash on to bust. Finally, after agreeing to pay for only half of the part and free labor, they replaced the busted up dash board only to return the truck with now cracks in the front part of the dash. They refused to replace the second piece their technicians broke, just offered to call around to get prices for a new piece. Ummmm...... no thanks! STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE! read more

Upon arriving at the service center, we were pleased to find a spotless and clean place, all well organized with an unwritten but obvious mission - it's all about the customer! They quoted 7-hr. labor on our motorhome. We have a tow vehicle so we left and explored the Ocala area; they did a great job keeping us informed while doing repairs. Labor $89. per hour is unheard of where we come from! Every single time we have been there something has gone wrong. First time, we came in with a $600 cash budget because we needed new tires. They told us the tires that we wanted to buy werent very good and that they would be a hassle to get. So Tom himself sold us these cheap tires for about $350 for all four and told us they would be fine. They said they sell this line of tires to everyone and nobody complains. We would have gone somwhere else by this point, but this was the preferred mechanic by the people we were buying the car from, so we just bought the tires and were on our way. The tires were not very good quality. They slipped and hydroplaned. But what else would I expect from such cheap tires? The second time, our window button stopped working. The window went down and wouldnt go up. I went to Automasters to see what they could do. They told me the switch would cost about $60 for the part and $20 to install. I asked them if they could just put the window up so I could get the money and come back without flooding my car from the Florida rain. They put the window up, but broke some of the pins in the door. Now it is very loose and feels like it could be pulled off if you had a mind to. Now, learning from my past mistakes, I looked up the price for the window button. It was only $10! I bought it and installed it myself, but my door was still broken. The third and final time I went because I had a screw in my tire. I just wanted a patch, but it was on a side wall so they couldnt do it. That was fine. They immediately started trying to sell me some more tires, at least two front ones, but all four would be better because they were bald. I asked how many miles they should have gotten, I hadn't driven that far. Bryan said tires don't get an estimated milage. But I had only driven about 30k miles. I found out later that those tires should have gotten around 40k. I didnt want to buy tires from this place again, and since I owned my car now, I knew I could get a second opinion. While it was still in the garage, I asked if they could look at my trunk lock. It had been stuck since we bought it but I have a spare in there. They said no and didn't even give me a reason why not. Then I told them to put the tire back on, so they took the screw out of my tire so it wouldn't hold any air at all. At this point they are trying to force me to buy their tires. After I keep refusing, Tom says he can put a plug in it for us. First, that's not safe, second that's not legal as the hole is on the side wall. So I climb into the backseat myself, and open the trunk from the inside. Just outside the car, as I'm pulling the spare out, I hear Tom saying that this was my fault in the first place because when he sold me those tires, I insisted on the cheapest ones. At this point I am furious that he is straight out lying and pinning the blame on me and the tires that he wanted to sell to me a second time. The tech put on the spare for me and I thanked him and said sorry for all the trouble. He was about to apologize to me also, but tom interrupted him. I went elsewhere and bought 4 brand new tires that werent anywhere close to being the cheapest tire, and they work great. read more
