We love this place, and come here often. The chicken is moist and delicious, and the fried yuca is addictive. It's a pretty good value too.

I was there around 3 pm. It was not busy as it was post lunch hour. I ordered quarter dark chicken with side of fried rice and yuka fries. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. Fall off the bones and very delicious. I loved the nicely roasted chicken skin as well. Fried rice was good. I have had better fried rice at other places. Yuka fried with their green spicy sauce went really well. Nice and crispy. Ambiance is alright. It's a self serve place like most of the other Peruvian restaurants. Plenty of parking space.

I recently placed a family order at your restaurant, and when I was ready to pay, I was informed that there would be a $3 additional charge if I chose to pay with a credit card. I was told that if I paid in cash, I would only be charged the regular price. When I asked the cashier about this policy, she stated that the new owner had implemented this charge. I believe this kind of fee is unfair and deceptive. Customers should be clearly informed before ordering that there will be an extra charge for using a card, and this fee should be prominently displayed--if it's allowed at all. This practice feels like an attempt to squeeze extra money from customers without transparency. It comes across as dishonest and exploitative. I urge you to look into this location and ensure that all charges are properly disclosed and fair. Adding surprise fees at the register does not reflect well on your brand and damages customer trust. I would appreciate a response explaining whether this is an official company policy or a local decision, and what steps will be taken to address it.

I had made a reservation for 7 but one of my family members had to cancel last minute. When we were walked to our table, we walked past a table for 6 and then we continued walking past it. We ended up being sat at a table for 4 with two chairs on the end of it. We had asked to be moved over but they had said they were going to split the table into two seperate tables. Now, I question where they were going to seat us if we were 7! Personally, I don't like to be bumping knees at the table, especially if we are paying a few hundred for our dinner. I understand that the restaurant wants to make as much money as possible however I believe they can do so without making an uncomfortable experience for their patrons.

The atmosphere was lively and energetic, but even with a full house, it was still easy to have a conversation at the table. Overall, a great dining experience and a place we'd happily return to.

It hasn't really bounced back just yet. But I also feel like we are in a bubble too. Our street looks vacant, but once you walk to one end of the block or other, the opportunities are within sight. I have seen this place when I have had the pleasure to drive into work. However, it's not an establishment that I would walk to for lunch. DC blocks can be super long to walk and it can take a while to cross the busy streets. With our event coming up I figured why not. We went with the 40 Person Package from their catering menu. I think they under-describe this. It states it is for 40 people, but the amount of food you receive can easily feed more than that. Especially when it comes with four full pan sized side dishes. Definitely enough food to feed a crew and have leftovers. For our sides we went with White Rice, Plantains, Mashed Potatoes, and House Salad. All the food was received well by our crew and they were pleased to be able to partake in what was left after the meal was done. The White Rice comes with peas and carrots right in it. The Plantains are fried perfectly. Mashed Potatoes were velvety (sadly they appear to have taken them off the menu since we ordered). And the House Salad was a light side to rest of the rich food. What was over the top here was the delivery of the food. This was two weeks post snowstorm and the streets of DC were still mini mountains to climb. Our delivery person was amazing with the delivery. He, however, had the mishap of the mashed potatoes deciding to ditch before being delivered. He was very apologetic, cleaned it off the sidewalk outside, and went back to the restaurant to bring a fresh tray. That is superb service in my mind.

I'll have to try that next time, but this time I got the Ceviche Nikkei, Lucky 12 (4pcs of 3 different types of siu mai), and the Aji de Gallina. My favorite was the ceviche nikkei; it was so refreshing and the tuna was the perfect texture! Out of the three types of siu mai, the siu mai tradicional was my favorite. The pollo siu mai has like a salsa in it that was very unique but not my favorite. The Aji de Gallina was very hearty and comforting. The chicken pieces themselves were fine but the stew was so delicious. The real star of the show was the dessert: ponderaciones de kiwicha! The banana ice cream it comes with was phenomenal, it pairs so well with the cocoa powder! I would come back just for dessert! The ambiance is really nice! The drink and food I'd say is pretty standard. The Lomo Saltado dish, however, I'd say that it's just a bit too salty, and the beef steak is slightly overdone, but only slightly. So I'd still give it a 4/5. Overall, I thought it's a beautiful space and nice dining experience and I'd still recommend it to others, just not on the top of my list.

I made a reservation with a friend this past Monday for dinner, and we had a great time! The food came out quickly and the servers were attentive. CEBICHE CLÁSICO - 26 This was a very refreshing cerviche that was topped with sweet potatoes, cancha ("corn nuts"), choclo (Peruvian corn), pickled red onions, and this seaweed/algae topping. It was quite citrusy, which paired well with the very fresh fish. The toppings added more crunch and crisp, along with some natural "sweetness" that each of them have. PAPAS DE HUANCAYO - 15 The potatoes were topped generously with aji amarillo (creamy sauce made with yellow chili peppers), queso fresco, and two halves of a quail? egg. Wow, this was so delicious. I simply loved the aji amarillo, which was so savory with a slight spice to it. The queso fresco added extra cheesy-creaminess. This was my favorite out of all the things we tried. I was thinking about the papas de huancayo even two days later. ANTICUCHERIA + corazon de res - 9 + chicken thigh - 9 These are charcoal-grilled skewers marinated with cumin, chicha de jora, oregano, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, and aji panca. I usually imagine skewers to be on the dryer side, but these were incredibly saucy. There was a bit of heat in the midst of all the spices, along with a nice acidic tang. Lots of flavors happening all at once! I enjoyed the texture of the beef heart, which almost reminded me of the crunch of chicken liver. The chicken thighs were tender and delicious. LOMO SALTADO - 34 Large plating, but it was emptier than it appeared to be. There wasn't much jasmine rice, which was perfect for the both of us. A few pieces of wagyu beef, which was tender, but underwhelming for wagyu. The potatoes soaked up the savory, soy-based sauce well, and the tomatoes were juicy. Overall, pretty solid entree, but I'd like to try something else next time. UNGURAHUL AÇAÍ - 15 We wanted to end our meal with something sweet, but refreshing. And what's more refreshing than an acai bowl? This was topped with a variety of fruits, some I've never had before. Good amount of granola (made of amaranth and quinoa?) that provided a satisfying crunch. The acai itself was almost like a paste. The bowl itself was cold and refreshing, but a bit too sweet. Overall, the flavors of each dish we got were explosive and unique. I did think it leaned slightly too salty. I would love to come back again to try more items along with their tasting menu at Causa!

We made a reservation for the rooftop patio, which had a beautiful view of the surrounding brick buildings. The space felt lush and vibrant, filled with greenery and natural sunlight. Our table had a lamp that unfortunately did not work, but overall the ambiance was still lovely. Our server was incredibly attentive and offered great recommendations. The appetizers arrived at a good pace, though our entrée took longer than expected. *Classic Punch: the only cocktail served in a pitcher format, which yielded about five to six glasses. Our server highlighted their in house aged liquor, and it showed in how smooth the drink was. It had a clean profile with a natural balance of tartness and sweetness from the pineapple. Very refreshing and easy to keep drinking. *Corazón De Res: one of the best skewers I have had. The beef hearts were well seasoned with ají panca and cumin, with a deep, developed flavor and great texture. The huacatay aioli and rocoto sauce added layers of creaminess, acidity, and heat. Easily the most well rounded dish. *Papas De Huancaína: a chilled potato dish with an interesting concept. The standout element was the soft quail egg on top. The potatoes themselves were cooked through but still slightly firm. The ají amarillo sauce overwhelmed the dish, and there were not enough potatoes to balance its sweet and tangy intensity. This would have improved with either less sauce or more potatoes. *Seasonal Cebiche: the daily special featured Hokkaido scallops. The scallops were tender and naturally sweet, complemented by the acidity of the marinade. Toppings included seaweed, cancha, choclo, red onion, and sweet potato, offering a variety of textures. The seaweed and choclo added chewiness, while the thinly sliced red onion could have been more generous for added sharpness. The sweet potato was especially memorable for its sweetness. The cancha added crunch, though it felt slightly overused compared to the other toppings. *Cebiche Amazónico: recommended by our server for a spicier, creamier profile. The white fish was tender and took on the marinade well. This version leaned more acidic, with the sauce standing out more than the fish itself. The toppings were similar to the seasonal cebiche but included plantain chips. The chips felt redundant alongside the cancha and would have worked better as a separate side. *Pulpo Al Olivo: the octopus itself was very well cooked, tender with a natural sweetness. Unfortunately, the botija olive sauce was overly thick and heavy, and there was far too much of it for the portion of octopus. The strong tang completely overpowered the dish. *Mafalde: the house made pasta had a nice chew and a beautiful shape. The wagyu beef cheek was tender and generously portioned. However, there was a noticeable gaminess that the tomato ragù did not fully mask. The sauce was cooked down but needed more seasoning and depth. *Chazuta: a surprisingly expensive dessert for its size and subtle flavor. The macambo added a pleasant crunch, but the matcha center was very mild, making the dish feel one note. The passionfruit droplets were bright and flavorful, though too sparse to tie everything together. An underwhelming finish. The cebiches, skewers, and drinks were the highlights and truly impressive. The rest of the dishes fell short in flavor, especially when considering the price point. The 20 percent automatic gratuity felt justified given the quality of service, but if I were to return, I would focus on the smaller plates. Overall, this felt like a three and a half star experience, rounded up slightly due to the ambiance and service.
