Quarter white meat with salad and pico de gallo
Toya J.

Excellent dish very filling. They give you 5 flautas, they only make chicken. Topped with sour cream and a little lettuce and tomatoes. The green sauce ties this dish together.

My girls have been asking for Mexican food which equates to a bean and cheese burrito for my oldest and chicken flautas for our youngest. I was surprised that of the few Mexican/Latin places in PG County that after calling multiple on one would make a bean and cheese burrito. So that is what lead me to Pollo Tipico. So we got the burrito, chicken flautas and 1/2 rotisserie chicken. I placed the order over the phone and it was ready when I got there. The people behind the counter were very nice. My oldest was happy because she finally got a burrito to her linking, our youngest thought the flautas were ok, But the chicken.....the chicken...oh boy!! That was gooood! It was tender, moist and flavorful. For our sides we had rice and plantains which were very good. We dug into the food so quickly I did not get any pictures but I did get pictures of the menu. There are no good photos of their menu online and they don't have a website. So I took some nice good close up shots. The restaurant did not have a lot of seating so it felt like most people go there for to-go orders.. If you are looking for some great chicken you definitely have to try this spot out. I will definitely be back!

On the chicken side of things this place was actually just ok nothing to write home about but they have a nice selection on the menu and I will be going back to try something else

Wow. I'm torn on this one' because I enjoyed my carnitas. Good cut of beef......no fat bits. Lots of cilantro and onions, served with a fresh wedge of lime. Yum! Okay back to being torn. My taste buds totally enjoyed the meal, however my tummy didn't... 'nough said.

Fried plantains. Mine had no syrup. A few banana pieces were in there!

I've been looking for a good place to get my Mexican Tex-Mex food fix. After 10 years of living in the area I've rediscovered Pollo Típico. I had eaten here before but I got the charbroiled Chicken in the past. So today I decided to scratch my enchilada itch at Pollo Típico. I walked in on Saturday morning the place wasn't too busy there were about four other customers sitting at their tables waiting for their orders and I was able to put my order in with the young lady at the cash register phone walking in. I ordered the enchilada Monterey and I also ordered the fried plantains. The young lady was very polite and made sure that I got everything I wanted with my order. The total for the enchilada with chicken was $9 99. The small order of plantains was $3 50. The young lady told me to take about 10 minutes to get my order together I paid and I sat and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. After 24 minutes my order was finally ready. That was a little disappointing but they have a little sign posted that says they make all their food to order and so I can take up to 20 25 minutes. I didn't see the sign until after I paid I would have been better prepared. I wasn't very busy so I sat and waited. The restaurant was pretty tidy except the table that I sat at random piece of lettuce still on the table but the other tables seem to be clean and people were sitting and waiting for their food. I recognized that when a in-house order was ready one of the young ladies would bring the food to the person who ordered it at their table. A nice touch. They serve the food on Real China plates and platters and the guy sitting across from me had the biggest bowl of soup I've ever seen in my life! LOL he seemed satisfied and began 2 Dig Inn. My order was ready I was called to the counter I took my food and headed home. When I got home I open my packages the first was the plantains. They were fried. But they didn't seem to have a glaze on them, or at least the glaze that I was used to fried plantains havin on them. I tried fried plantains many many times and this is the first time I've ever gotten them dry from a restaurant. There were fried bananas in the mix as well. I didn't ask for bananas, I didn't expect them but they added a burst of sweetness to the other wise Bland starchy plantains. I was a little disappointed because I really enjoy fried plantains. Now I did notice inside my bag there was some liquid that may have come out of the plantains to go box. That could have been the sweet syrup that I was expecting may be drained out on the travel home. Bummer The main course was of course the enchilada Monterey. I got it with chicken and it also came with beans and rice a small pile of lettuce for salad pico de gallo sour cream and a slice of avocado. The enchilada itself was surprisingly not drowned in some kind of enchilada sauce. Usually there's half a tub of green or red sauce smothering enchiladas at most places. Now it is possible that I needed to request sauce only enchilada. I recall hearing another gentleman ask for salsa perhaps that's what I should have done. Something for you to keep in mind. It's okay to ask questions. The tortilla of the enchilada was a genuine sort of hand-made tortilla. It was flour it's kind of thick not quite as thick as a Pupusa but seemed to be grilled and made in house. That's Plus. The chicken itself in the enchilada was charred up and I think really well. Although it wasn't very juicy that charred taste it's something I always welcome. What I thought was enchilada sauce was actually beans. Refried beans I believe. Duh. The beans and rice were good and I really didn't eat much of a salad. No dressing. Alright let's wrap this up! Although the wait was a little long quality was kind of worth it. I don't mind waiting for food that's cooked properly and this was cooked properly. The fried plantains for a bit of a disappointment because I like them to be sweet and these were just starchy even with the random bananas. The cost of the meal it's a little high but considering that it's made to order and it's pretty tasty I don't have a problem with that. My only regret is not asking for some type of salsa because the enchilada was sometimes a little dry. Overall I say give them a shot at Pollo Típico. Good service pretty good food but long wait. Of course you can just call ahead I'll do that next time now that I have the menu. Enjoy. Dictated but not read.

Beans and Cheese Pupusas

First time visiting and I'm welcomed with 2 blaring televisions on Telemundo and a blasting radio on the Spanish station. Both were so loud, I could barely hear myself place my order. Ahhh, so welcoming! Lol! Located directly next to the Ledo's on Lanham-Severn Road, Pollo Tico is open 7 days a week, from 10am - 10pm. A mom and pop spot that specializes in Peruvian chicken and several other authentic dishes. I ordered the chicken enchilada and beans and cheese pupusas. The enchilada came with guac, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and refried beans and rice. All I can say is they truly know what they're doing! Everything was excellent! The food was bursting with flavor and they give you huge portions. Like, belly busting, fall out on the floor, food coma, I can't eat my entire meal, portion sizes. The chicken was pure perfection. Seasoned well with a slight kick to it. It's really more of a carry-out, although they do have some tables and chairs if you wanted to eat there. The staff was accommodating and friendly and makes your food to order. Very reasonably priced and a huge bang for your buck...I'm a fan!!

First time trying this little eatery at a friend's recommendation. Came on a Sunday evening and this little gem is busy. Had the breakfast platter and a papusa for dinner. After the papusa I was stuffed. Everything is made fresh and you will have a wait because the food is hot and delicious. Prices are reasonable and tonight was well worth the visit. The main serving was so big that I have lunch for tomorrow!

I opened the flautas and this was inside undercooked tortilla on the inside and burned on the outside.

Yikes... gave this spot a 2nd chance after dealing w/ frozen and imitation crab meat and shrimp in their soup. Got the chicken flautas or so I thought. I work w/ a girl from Mexico and she said WTF is that! The chicken was overcooked burned and in some parts grey. I guess they use the leftover chicken from their Rotisserie and you can tell. It tastes bland and old and hard. Oh I didnt appreciate the bones either.

This is my first time here. I was dying for some pupusas and cross this spot before. I order 4 pupusas' w/o any hesitation. This place definitely has an authentic look and feel like some kickass food is coming your way. And the jury is out....these are the best pupusas IVE EVER HAD. Like each one is a pound of heaven on earth.

All this for $9.99!!!!

A HUGE plate of food for only $9? Yep......if you're hungry and don't want to break the bank, this is the place to go. If you speak even a little Spanish, it's a plus, as many of the workers don't speak English. And know what you want by the time you get to the register.....the line is long, but it moves....don't be the one who holds everyone up. The food was delicious.....try the chicken enchilada. No really, just try it. You won't be sorry.

Seriously how does this place stay in business with the price they charge and the amount they give you. The portions are huge for a more than reasonable price. Today I decided to stop in to try the food after checking out some Yelp recommendations of nearby restaurants. I saw nothing but good reviews for this place so consider this another of the many digital praises of how good their food is. I decided to go with the half chicken that came with two sides and my choice consisted of plantains and a rice/ bean mix. I got it to go and very glad that I did because after I finished I went into a food coma on my couch. The chicken was seasoned nicely and very juicy. The meal came with a green hot sauce and a mayonnaise based dipping sauce that complemented the chicken nicely. I will say if you are sensitive to hot flavors then you might want to go easy on the green sauce. The plantains were cooked wonderfully and the surprise was how great the rice/bean mix was. I was expecting rice/bean mix to be like most mixes but it was more like a red beans and rice mixture. It was mixed with onions and this will be on my next order on my future trips. At $8.99 you cannot beat this deal. When you come to dine here the parking lot can be crowded and a few busy streets turn right into the parking lot. Be careful as many people are not paying attention.

aqui esta el menu completa tomado en año 2021

We shared the corn, which was perfectly sweet and tangy, ordered three lemonades, and tried a handful of tacos. The taco de lengua was tender and moist without being fatty, the barbacoa was savory with just the right hint of sweetness, and the carne asada was hearty, meaty, and full of flavor. We wrapped things up with a flan that was creamy and custardy--exactly how it should be. The packed parking lot says it all about this place's popularity. Don't miss out.

There are definitely a variety of taco choices. I haven't been unsatisfied yet. There is a small eating area inside away from the bottleneck area where people order and pick up their food but I don't think I'd ever want to eat inside since it's way too busy and the ambiance would be too hectic for me to deal with. There are other choices of sides or extras like maíz loco (corn on the cob with a variety of toppings like mayo, catsup, crumbled cheese, tajín...your choices), dried pork rinds, chicharrón (chewier and crispy version of the pork rinds), atole (hot, masa-based beverage made from corn dough, water or milk, sweetened with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla). There are quick desserts to go too. I would highly recommend ordering ahead so you can get in and out or figuring out the less congested times. I've come during the dinner rush hours time but hadn't been planning on getting it ahead of time. I definitely recommend this place and will continue to come back.

The parking lot is small, and there's no sauce stand--which is probably my only downside. Because of the holiday, the wait was about 30 minutes for four tacos, which was a bit longer than I would've liked. That said, it was worth it. Taqueria Los Primos has always been my go-to spot and, up until now, the best tacos I've had in Maryland--but Los Perez takes the top spot for me. I was a little thrown off seeing the hot sauce come in a plastic packet, but it was actually super fire. I'd come back here all the time. We did pickup from the restaurant, calling the order in ahead was straightforward, and it was ready within 15 minutes. The ambiance of the restaurant is very special, beautifully decorated, with plenty of seating. Would definitely go again!
