Korean fried chicken is something you have to experience. This isn't just another stop at your local chicken joint, it's the kind of meal that makes you wish you had an ice-cold beer in hand to go with it. We've driven past Don Chicken plenty of times saying, "We have to try this," and on a Friday night we finally made it our date night. The spot itself is simple, with plenty of parking, and fully focused on serving must-try Korean fried chicken. I walked in ready to order one of everything, but the cashier quickly realized I was new and helped narrow it down to chicken, dumplings, and an order of fries. Let me be clear, if you're picturing small buffalo-style wings from a local wing spot, reset your expectations. These were full-size wings. We ordered them plain and soy-glazed, and both were excellent. The dumplings, also soy-glazed, were just as good. From the first bite, the crunch and flavor hit immediately. It wakes up your senses and makes you realize this isn't just chicken. You can taste the care that goes into the prep, and it absolutely shows. Despite being busy, the service was friendly and attentive, which always makes the experience better. When we finished eating, it looked like we barely made a dent, plenty of leftovers that were happily enjoyed by the family later at home. If I could change one thing, it would be having a beer to pair with the meal, but that's a minor detail. Where do I start? Ah yes! The food quality is remarkably impressive. I will admit I am not particularly fond of thigh meat; however, this restaurant knows how to execute making thigh meat taste extremely flavorful and juicy. I love that the owner took creative liberty to have Korean-imported exclusive flavors (both of which I ordered). This exclusivity makes this place unique. I love that the owner cares about the quality and remains knowledgeable about healthy techniques to maintain high-standard food quality. The fries alone are delicious with or without the cheese snowing seasoning. The cheese snowing has a unique subtle sweetness and faint sharp cheese taste, which is impressively yummy. The onion rings have a perfect crunch and great buttery earthy flavor. The purring seasoning is not too cheesy, has a faint nutty, sweet flavor that pairs with the parsley. Okay, enough about the food, haha, the service is stunning compared to some restaurants I've been to. The owner is polite, humble, genuine, knowledgeable, friendly, positive, and has a radiant energy that leaves you feeling happy. I loved the conversation we exchanged. The owner even retains that energy with every customer that enters, which was truly impressive. The above and beyond nature combined with strict food quality standards and care is amazing. So food and service are stellar. What about the ambiance? The energy is a calm, peaceful, positive environment where you are allowed to enjoy your meal in serenity even with a TV on. I've ordered from Don's Chicken a few times (both dine-in and takeout), and for the most part, it's been a great experience! The fried chicken is crispy, flavorful, and delicious, and the Ddokbokki comes in this huge bowl that's well worth the money. My only issue was this one time when I called in my order ahead of time and showed up to pick it up. The person who took my order said it would be ready in about 15 minutes. I showed up 20 minutes later, and the place was closed--30 minutes before their posted closing time. I saw the worker chilling in his car while my hungry group and I stood at the door. We looked at him, confused, but he just turned away and started looking at his phone. Honestly, this place is great, and I'm so happy to finally have some good Korean Fried Chicken in the area. I was just really bummed after driving all the way there and having to scramble for a Plan B at the last minute. I'll still be back though! First experience was ok, but we have no plans to return. Korean fried chicken should be extra crispy with great flavor. We sampled large combos of both the original crispy and the soy garlic. Neither was particularly crispy. The original was not even that flavorful. Every fried chicken restaurant closer to me is much better, so, no plans to return. The soy garlic was ok. It's similar to the original, but with a sweet coating. It's not overly full of garlic, which I think is good. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center and some tables inside. The chicken pieces are a good size. Bigger than KFC but a lot smaller than hangry Joe's. What was repulsive was the pickled radish that comes with the large combos. Upon opening the container, the aroma almost made a couple of us ill. We closed the container and saved it for trash day. I like pickled radishes that are traditionally served with sushi, but this stuff was plain repulsive. Again, the chicken is ok, but nothing special to warrant the price or make me return. read more

Soy garlic chicken is incredible. They have something called cheese corn. I don't know what it is, but it is so delicious! Everything is so yummy. I know it's a chain, but I can't get enough of this. This place is very consistent, the chicken is very high quality, and they have never made a mistake with our order. The soy garlic (or spicy soy garlic) is, to me, their flagship product, but it's all pretty good. The regular olive oil fried chicken is nice, but if you're expecting southern KFC style, you might find it bland. That said, the other sauces are somewhat heavily applied, so getting the plain chicken and a side of sauce is a nice workaround (note: the soy garlic style is only lightly sauced, which, to my tastes, is perfect). The cheese dukbokki is an experience; reminiscent of a sweet and spicy Korean noodle challenge, but with chewy thick rice noodles and a complete layer of melted cheese on top. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but worth trying at least once. My only gripe is that I tried the noodle and potato salads when they first started offering them, and they were great: mild, creamy, al dente pasta, soft and creamy potato--a nice complement to the big flavors of the chicken sauces. But the next time I ordered the noodle salad a few weeks later, it had been completely replaced with the worst style of macaroni salad--sweet, tangy, (Miracle Whip? vinegar?), overcooked and overpowering. Happy to have a Korean fried chicken option around finally. I enjoyed it so much at first ! I wish they served beer too, it would be a good compliment to the fried chicken. I gave it a break after a while when I was feeling queasy between the sauce and grease and chicken grizzle. I think they can do more with the prep and cleaning of the chicken wings before they batter and fry. The food was disgusting. If I can give this place a negative 5 I would. The fries were super greasy. The (crispy chicken) drum sticks were the thickest drum sticks I have ever seen in my life. Not even the bronx chicken is that thick (and that says a lot). The wings... horrible. The egg potato Mayo looked and tasted like a 1996 public school watered down macaroni and cheese. If you have a problem going to the bathroom please order the Pickled radish. It will send you straight to the bathroom. Smells like a dead rat in a small non ventilated room. Disaster.
