I see you do not take criticism well. With that said, as a business owner, you should be ashamed. Your response is very unprofessional. Let's be clear, my review wasn't written out of spite. I spoke the truth. I don't go around bashing small businesses. I support them. But this experience deserved honesty. The mention of "video footage" was odd, are you implying some kind of threat? Because yes, we ate there. That's why the review exists. If anything, I hope the footage captured how disappointed we were and your gawking eye as I walked by. Food was not on par with the pricing and we both got sick that night. We would have gladly paid any price if the food was amazing. It simply was not. We took 6 takeout containers because we couldn't justify paying $180 plus tip for the bad quality we had, but it went into the garbage anyway. We tipped 20% bc we are not assholes and even with the food and service not being great. Bottom line, it is not the cost, it is what it's worth. Disputing the food only not the service, bc the servers still deserve their pay. But keep it. Saying you had 50 take out orders that's why you were too busy to tend to our table is absurd as we watched our server going back and forth with nothing in his hands many times and did not check back in until we had to call the bus boy over to get our check. There is no excuse. That is poor service. Are you in the restaurant business or not? The server brought out that many containers when he saw how much leftover we had of each dish. It's great that your regulars love the wings and mandu. My bf actually liked the flavor too, but this was his first time at a Korean restaurant so he didn't know any better. Mandus are known to be big juicy dumplings. If you look at the picture that's an over fried gyoza. I'll say it again, the wings-dry, mandu-dry, bonchon-lacking most places do way more. We didn't want a refill on the bonchon. We got violently ill that night. I haven't written a review in years nor do I care to, but for this I had to. With service so warm and attentive you'd think your grandma was running the front of house, they definitely know how to make you feel welcome. But let's talk flavor: this is Korean food that studied abroad and came back with an American accent. The cucumber kimchi? Fresh and crisp, sure--but it was missing that punch-you-in-the-face burst of gochujang and garlic. It flirted with boldness but never quite committed. Like a rom-com lead who just won't say "I love you." Spicy pork had all the right ingredients in the cast--gochujang, scallions, sesame--but somehow they didn't quite bring the drama. It was like watching your favorite K-drama dubbed in English: technically correct, emotionally a little flat. As for the bibimbap in a hot stone pot, the crispy rice base never truly developed, but again, the flavors felt more "spa day" than "Seoul street food rush hour." Pleasant, but not pulse-quickening. My daughter celebrated her 18th birthday at Ginger's Seoul. I stopped by beforehand to speak with Oscar to ask if he could serve a special dessert I had purchased for her. He was so accommodating and ensured that her and her friends had the best experience. She came home very happy and said both the food and the service were amazing. This place was fantastic! Although on the main road, its building is unassuming and you wouldn't think such a gem of a place was here. Much larger inside and the decorations and ambiance are fantastic- great for both large and small groups. Drinks are fantastic, my husband and I had a few mocktails and they were delicious. I ordered a veggie bibimbap and my husband got the bulgogi. Both were flavorful and filling. Service was also nice. Prices are moderate, but expected with the area we are in. Still worth going to! The 5 stars is just for the takeout which says a lot. Picked up my order and the interior of the restaurant is nice with 2 bars and plenty of tables and I saw on IG they also have patio dining. Tried the Pork Ribs, Spicy Pork, Bulgogi Japchae, Traditional Kimbap. Ginger's Seoul is the best Korean restaurant in Stamford - hands down. It's pricey but the quality is legit and can save you a trek to NYC for good Korean food. Love the variety of Korean foods they have too. Pizza, noodles, meats, kimbap. I had dinner with my family - including little kids - here last Friday. It was a very nice meal, good service, drinks, etc. The food tasted great and authentic, just like my trip to Seoul a year ago, with delicious cloudy Soju. I think it falls a bit short of 5 stars, not because it wasn't good... but the prices are a bit high for me to be going back time and time again, and I don't know that the value was a perfect match. This was my first time coming here since it was previously Judy's. They did a beautiful job renovating the space. The outdoor patio was as nice as I remember it from before, and it had a very nice bar top area that was added. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the food at all. Very overpriced. read more

I'm not a *huge* fan of Korean food, but I am a huge fan of Asian food, so I thought I would give this place a shot, as they advertised out front that they now had lunch specials. Now, when I see they have lunch specials, I expect a variety of popular lunch combos for $15. This wasn't like that. Probably the cheapest main dish they had was maybe a soup for $12, but $18 was more the floor, and a mix of ala carte stuff vs the traditional "here are the 10 complete lunches". I chose the bimimbop with grilled chicken and some green tea. it was served with some pickled vegetables and kimchi. When I paid the check it came to $35 with tip, which is too high for lunch for me, so I probably won't return. The food was very high quality, I will say that, and tasty. I'm still not a huge Korean fan, but I can appreciate a well prepared dish with quality ingredients. I do like kimchi and the kimchi was great. It was also more food than I could possibly eat, and I'm a big guy. I would have appreciated a smaller portion that they could squeeze it into the $15 lunch special zone. The atmosphere is also high end - there is a great lower end Asian place across the street - Rice Bowl, which I wish had half of this place's dining room. There are plants everywhere, even the tables. Its nice. It reminded me of a fern bar. Service was excellent. The dining room was mostly empty at lunch hour, I suspect because of the high prices. Its not a place the office crowd could afford to fill every day. Anyways, my recommendation for this place is to squeeze the lunch menu into 5-6 lunches, each a flat $15, and reduce the portion sizes to accommodate. Would be a 3 star review, but it is only 2 stars based on the value for money. The restaurant opened somewhat recently, and I love Korean food, so I was excited about an opportunity to try the restaurant. We stopped by for lunch. The pace is nicely decorated, rather in upscale style. We started with a beer - we had some Korean beer I never had before. The beer was okay, but for $9 per bottle it was a questionable value, but never mind. We shared kimchi and seafood pancake as an appetizer. Kimchi was tasty, but the pancake had no flavor of its own. I got a dish called Ojingeo Deopbap as my main dish. I was explained that the dish will be super-spicy - it was spicy, but probably at the 3 out of 5 level, just so you can assess the spiciness for yourself. The main problem with this dish was that it was a squid dish, and squid had a perfect rubber texture - absolutely not enjoyable. The final bill came to $62 per person (with 18% tip) - considering that the restaurant is located in a tiny shopping strip in Stamford and not in a center of Manhattan, this is a very bad value. I ordered the Tempura Shrimp Udon Noodle Soup. The "one piece" of tempura shrimp was served soggy in the soup. When I complained, the chef came out to defend her way of serving it, insisting that even the Japanese serves it that way! I've been to plenty of Japanese restaurants and have had my tempura shrimp served on the side. She didn't offer to replace the shrimp, until I threatened not to return to the restaurant. Overpriced food! The service was not great. We had to ask about ban chan. My partner ordered a drink but never got it. We had asked to for it to be deducted from the bill. read more

My wife and I were excited to see that a new Korean spot opened up in Stamford. After viewing the menu online, we decided to check it out for ourselves. For context, my wife is Chinese American and I lived in Seoul for 1.5yrs so we can be tough critics of Korean food. TLDR: Ginger's is a new hidden gem and go-to for authentic, tasty Korean in a warm, inviting space. We went on a Friday and brought our toddler. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in and provided a high chair. We didn't take long to decide on what to order: kimchijeon, bulgogi kimbap, mandu, and kimchi sondubu. The first dish out was the steamed mandu. Our toddler loved them and immediately asked for more as soon as he finished each one. The kimbap came shortly after and my wife commented on how fresh it was, especially compared to the ones she usually picks up at H-Mart.... Hahaha The kimchijeon arrived next and it was a winner. It had just enough kick and was full of flavor. This wasn't a mushy sad pajeon, these were four more reasonably sized pajeons with crispy edges. Honestly one of the better pajeon dishes I've ever had. Last came out my sondubu, and it was delicious. It had a kick with lots of flavors behind it as well. It reminded me of my time in Seoul. Closing thoughts: As someone who doesn't eat meat, I was very happy to see that there were many seafood and vegetarian options reflective of my time living in Seoul. We had a wonderful experience. We had the banchan, which was fine, though we would have preferred a larger selection and smaller portions, but that's just us... We also had kimbap, bibimbap, and galbi -- everything was delicious, super flavorful and well seasoned, and the portions were very generous (we got to-go containers for the leftovers, similar to other diners). Service was reasonably attentive, but not overbearing. We were amazed by how delicious the Coconut Banana Cake was -- light, yet extremely flavorful. Parking was easy and ample. Wow. Wow. Wow. This was incredible and worth every penny. We got take out that was ready on the dot of expected pickup and the staff was so nice. While it doesn't look glamorous , the food is soooo yummy. They clearly put a lot of love and thought into each dish. The cucumber kimchi that was part of the banchan was incredible. I loved the pickled turnips. But even without these add the depth of flavor on each dish was outstanding. We can't wait for a nice evening to dine in the beautiful outdoor space. Let me preface this with I'm second generation Korean American, and grew up with my mom's cooking... so I know good Korean food. My mom and dad were there as well, my mom Korean, my dad living in Korea for several years. In summary they think it was average, 3-stars. Knowing that Yelp can make or break you, I would say it's 4-stars. The restaurant is beautiful. The seating is comfortable, the design and decor easy on the eyes. They clearly did their homework, I even noticed that they had wall treatments with acoustic tiles, to help minimize the echoing/noise levels. The large pizza oven and adjacent bar are a bit out of place and take up lots of room. We went later in the day, so it wasn't busy. There's also a traditional bar, sushi bar, and outdoor seating. Unclear if the outdoor seating is heated or not, as we were planning to eat indoors anyways. Service was a little slow for how quiet the place was. Maybe only 4 or 5 seated tables. The neighboring table made a comment about receiving fried dumplings and not steamed. The waiter had left the table and didn't have eyes on the plate the whole time, it went back to the kitchen when brought to waiter's attention. Moments later, the same plate returned from the kitchen and to our table. Big no no. Please use this feedback to either give the table the dish complimentary, or remake the plate for the correct table. Don't bring it out to another table. The food was good. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. It was good. But remember the context here, I've grown up with great Korean food all my life. There aren't a ton of Korean restaurants in the area. If you've got a hankering for Korean food, this'll hit the spot. If you're looking to recommend a place to get Korean and you don't want to go into NY/NYC or NJ, this will do it. The prices are a little high, but not outrageous. Panchan is usually a lot of little small side dishes, but in this case you only get two dishes. The rice was mushy and wet. But parts of it were the correct consistency - so maybe they're still dialing in the rice cooker. The melted chocolate was not so melted. Maybe a little too much flour in the chocolate.. it was a thick paste. Donuts were likely made ahead of time - I was hoping for a hot donut. I can appreciate the attempt at making it look nice, but just put the chocolate on the side or in a sauce cup - in case someone doesn't like chocolate. We also got the Korean fried chicken. It was three large pieces. It wasn't white meat, it was more dark - and I would've liked to see it cooked a little longer. I think this dish would've been better if the chicken was cut into smaller pieces, yielding 6-8 pieces - it would fry quicker and be a bit more thoroughly cooked through. It was covered in sauce. What a great new place to have right here in Stamford! I love the decor - fresh and pretty. Even with a full house we could hear each other perfectly. Food was fabulous - on par with some high end places I've been in NYC and on the West Coast. We shared the Bulgogi (ribeye) which has a great, light sauce. Shared dumplings and bao buns, too. Prepared to perfection with super tasty sauces. Hubby had miso soup - a large portion which he loved. We also tried the ramen and it was a nice, solid choice. The people are really nice as well. We had to ask for condiments and got soy sauce. In my previous experience at Korean restaurants we always got small plates with tiny "treasures" - little taste bombs that made all meals special. Not offered here. Next table to us ordered a Korean scallion pancake and soup - shared by all and that looked appetizing. Cost: $$$ for lunch. No lunch special. I guess the restaurant is new but lunch specials is what makes one what to drive to a place and explore the menu. Three rice rolls with tip came to $60. No drinks In my experience a good lunch for two is in $40 range. Lovely people run this restaurant and I'm sure they will work on making it much better.
