The…read morerestaurant has a rustic, down-home atmosphere that fits the Southern comfort food menu perfectly. Our waiter, Hudson, was friendly throughout the meal and did a good job providing recommendations and suggestions. I ordered the 3-Piece White Meat Plate with two breasts and a wing, along with baked beans and coleslaw. I also ordered a side of the Sweet Heat sauce for dipping. My wife ordered the Fried Mississippi Catfish with fries and coleslaw, along with jalapeño hush puppies. The fried chicken and catfish were the stars of the meal. Both came out piping hot, crispy, and well seasoned. My chicken had plenty of flavor to stand on its own, but the Sweet Heat sauce complemented it nicely and added another layer of flavor without overpowering the chicken. The French fries were excellent and easily the best side. Crispy, hot, and exactly how fries should arrive. The remaining sides didn't reach the same level. We both found the vinegar-and-mayo coleslaw somewhere between average and below average. I felt about the same about my baked beans. My wife thought the jalapeño hush puppies were average. If you want excellent hush puppies, Shrimp & Co. in Hueytown remains our standard. Both of our meals were also served with a thick slice of white bread, which fit the simple, down-home presentation. This was our second or third visit to Champy's, and the food that matters most has been excellent each time. The sides may be hit or miss, but they know how to fry some chicken and catfish. Come for the chicken and catfish, definitely get the fries, and consider the other sides supporting players.

The first driver got so sick of waiting, he apparently decided to just bail on the order without letting anyone know, after almost an hour. It took an entire 2nd hour before hearing that the order was FINALLY on it's way because the 2nd driver kept being told they had to make the chicken and they had to come back out to ask what the sides were. What's worse than waiting 2 hours for the order? Waiting two hours, the restaurants asking twice what the sides were, and then HALF the order still missing when it was delivered. I will NEVER eat at this place again.

And that burger didn't stand a chance -- I savored every single bite. And the okra? The perfect compliment. The service was on par with the food -- it was a joy chatting with Ms. Nettie B and her daughter. I know it must have been stifling inside that truck with grills grilling and fryers frying in full force, but they were both so pleasant! Mouthwateringly scrumptious meal. Customer service excelled. If you ever see this food truck parked and open for business, do yourself a solid and stop. You'll thank yourself for it.

I jumped at the chance to try this place out because of the reviews of other Yelpers. The restaurant is sitting on the corner of Pelham Parkway and County Road 68 East, across from The Foundry Superthrift Outlet and Dollar General, and next door to TherapySouth. It is a nice sized place and the atmosphere is welcoming. I was helped by Dyron, who seemed like he never knew a stranger. He was so kind to everyone, including those on the phone. I even heard him say, "So we got your dad covered - what can I get started for YOU?" He was excited when he found out I was a "newbie". I love the menu. Each item has some form of "hit" in the name - slappin', crackin', slammin', and more. I ended up with the "Bussin' Burger" and a side of fries to go (since I was heading back to work). The food is cooked upon ordering, so my meal was nice and hot when I left. And I am here to tell you, the name of the burger was totally accurate! It was delicious - seasoned very well, and the perfect amount of toppings. The fries were good, but that burger - so good! No wonder Hit Different is a 2026 Shelby County Small Business of the Year Nominee! They deserve it and then some! Do yourself a favor, listen to the other Yelpers, and head down Highway 31 for an amazing meal at Hit Different! I am going back!

This was my first time ordering anything from here. I was drawn in by a BOGO offer for burgers and fries for National Cheeseburger Day. I ordered on their app and was given a thirty minute estimate on pick up. The outside of the restaurant is well maintained and the inside looked nice and clean. They weren't overly busy. The host looked at me but I was not greeted. I had no problem finding the pickup counter that had about four or five people waiting. The restaurant has an open floor plan and loads of big screen TVs. The music wasn't overly loud. I had to wait for a while before I got to the counter. Apparently they only had one employee manning the to-go counter and running back and forth to get the orders from the kitchen. An employee came to fill their water bottle with soda but didn't work the to-go counter. When the man working the counter showed up, he was very friendly and apologized for the wait. I had to wait for around 15 minutes past my estimated time. Luckily, I wasn't on a time schedule and they had a nice seating area to wait. I received my food and made the mistake of not checking it before I got home. ALWAYS check your order. I had ordered two All-American Cheeseburgers with fries. The burgers were supposed to come with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and sautéed onions. I got one out of four: sautéed onions. That aside, the burgers were awesome. They were hand smashed and had tasty crisp edges and were dripping with melty cheese, topped with sautéed onions. I really liked that instead of putting the condiments on the burger, they came in a separate bag with our utensils and some wet naps. I always hate hot mayo, so this was a plus for me. The fries were shoestring fries. They were good, hot, crisp, and had a good many soft limp fries, which are my favorite. I'll definitely be back for the food, but if it's take out, I'll pause to check it before I leave.
