Went to the local full moon, never have liked this one and it didn't disappoint still crapy bbq. This is the only chain of full moon that is bad. This one has chopped pork and when you chop pork it takes all the moisture out of it. The others I've gone to pull it which is much better. And their baked beans have changed and they now have this nasty burnt take to them. If you a chain please ALL of them be consistent. This is by far the worst full moon in there chain. My favorite bq sauce is Ollie's, and they have been out of the restaurant business for 20 years, though you can still purchase their vinegar based sauce at local grocery stores. Okay then, all I have to add is, Full Moon has the best onion rings and Greek Salads you can get at a drive thru anywhere in town. The onion rings are thick and actually taste like onion and not thin overcooked mostly thin tastelessness. You can't cheat yourself too much here. You'll wanna get the large order. That'll be your appetizer. After that, switch speeds once in your boring and aimless life and order the Greek Salad. The food wasn't special at all and the bun for his burger even instantly just completely broke apart as soon as he tried to pick up his burger. Yesterday, January 25, 2026, I came through the drive thru and ordered (4 bones rib sandwich, small end) $13.95 but I received, (3 bones large end). I didn't check my order until I got home. Due to the inclement weather, I would not get back out and unaware of their closing time as well. I've been to Full Moon a few times within the last three years and it has always been decent. However, I have to say that this time I had it, it was the worst BBQ that I can remember. The ribs barely had any meat on them and they were dry and tough. Also, the coleslaw was the worst I've had in a very long time. Few people had recommended this BBQ spot in Alabama. It had a drive thru so no getting out the car. It was packed with customers so why not give it a try. The rib meal came w full slab of ribs and 6 slices of bread, choice of 2 sides of 3 options which were cole slaw, baked beans, or potato salad. You also got 4 Half-Moon cookies. Oh and a container of bbq sauce. I admit I was little surprised my sides were put in to go cups then a cup holder. I guess a smart way to utilize what u have and fill an order. The service. Let's start there. I got a quick run down at the drive thru menu. She was patient with me and did good job explaining and making suggestions. Food. The ribs were really good. I mean they were seasoned really well. They did not have bbq sauce on them and I didn't add any. The meat was tender came right off the bone. The Half-Moon cookies which are chocolate chip cookies and half dunked in chocolate were pretty tasty. I enjoyed the cookies. The potato salad was okay. I added some salt and pepper to me. I think a little too much mayo. Needed more relish, eggs, and touch of mustard for me. The baked beans had a little charcoal taste. I didn't care for the beans a little burnt taste to me. My son got the baby back rib plate w fries and Mac n cheese. The ribs were covered with sauce. I was surprised they were not as tender as the spare ribs in the family meal. They were a little tough.. Full Moon Bar-B-que gets a 5 out of 5 for food taste and atmosphere, but there were some aspects of it where I would give it a 4. I would give it a 4 because the restaurant gives you a sense that you are ordering fast food yet the food does take approximately 20 minutes to be served. If you get water, it is charged like a drink and has a bad after taste. The corn of the cob was not that tasty. I did love their pulled pork, wings, cole slaw and sauce. Okay, let's jump right in. Bbq pulled pork: Pretty good. Only a literal large tablespoon of bbq sauce on top, but the flavor of the meat was decent. It looked horrible! As did the Squash Casserole that was plated with it. (If you don't like bell peppers, do not get this Squash!! That it what it tasted like!) The fried Okra was the quite good. The presentation needed a LOT of work. I almost didn't try any of it, because it looked so bad. We also bought the rib box. They look horrible as well. Again, the presentation needed a lot of work! This place is a hit and miss. Recently, I purchased the rib plate and was a little disappointed. The portions were more than enough but the quality of the ribs was lacking. The size of baker was 100% with the price. But the taste not so much. The chicken tastes like it didn't have seasoning at all. The sour cream was barely there and the butter was nonexistent. I'm glad they listened to me when I requested no scallions. The bacon was the smallest portion I've had on a baked potato. The riblet portion was a great size. However they could have gone longer. I don't know why I keep going back to this place. I ordered a hamburger and was told it would be a 10-12 minute wait for it to cook. No problem. There are multiple Full Moon locations throughout the city, but I want to give this location a shout out. The restaurant is conveniently located off of I-459 (exit #101). We stopped to pick up dinner on Sunday night. I ordered the Rib Plate which included 4 large ribs, two sides, and two slices of white bread. The ribs were cooked just right, they were tender and flavorful. The ribs had a medium char from the fire pit. The bbq sauce was excellent; not too sweet or too vinagery. It was a perfect complement to the hickory smoked ribs. I chose the Potato Salad and Chow Chow as my two sides. The Potato Salad was on point. It reminded me of Mom's homemade potato salad and therefore was obviously excellent. I'm a fan of the Chow Chow. Chow Chow is a pickled relish, and Full Moon's is epic. It is crunchy, spicy, and picklely. Linh ordered the Pig in a Salad, Kristine had a loaded baked potato, and Jenny had a Potato with Smoked Chicken. All looked great, and the portions were huge. The potatoes were freekishly big! The wait time to get our order fullfilled was longer than I expected, and especially considering the restaurant was practically empty. My brother had been visiting and was going back to Atlanta, so we decided to have lunch together at Full Moon before her left. We got there around 2pm, so the lunch crowd had thinning out, and there was no wait to order. My wife ordered the 1/4 white meat chicken plate with fired green tomatoes and baked beans and was enjoyed her meal. My brother was also happy with the bar-b-que pork plate he ordered. He also got fried green tomatoes, and he said they were bigger and better than he expected. My brother must have liked everything a lot because he cleaned his plate up. It was so clean that they could have gotten away with not washing it. My dad got a bar-b-que chicken sandwich. I think he liked it, but with him, I never know. I not totally sure what I got. I ordered a "classic rib plate" that came with 4 ribs. When my plate arrived, it had six ribs. The ribs were good, but a little dry. When I was leaving, I saw another customer get his ribs, and he had four big ribs. I was left questioning what I received. When I showed my assistant a picture of the rib plate, she said they were baby back ribs. I'm including a picture, so you may all decide. The coleslaw is vinegar based and almost too sweet. The restaurant looks like most Full Moons I've been to. There are a lot of TV with sports on. Since we went on a Sunday, I could watch football and avoid talking to my family. This was a quick trip through the drive through as I was running late for lunch, but some days a Full Moon sweet tea is just a must have....and this happened to be one of those days! Drive through at a good BBQ place isn't going to be the fastest in the world, as they are taking the same approach to completing your order as when you go inside. They don't have it ready sitting under the heat lamp (per say). They are waiting for the order to come in and are fixing it at the time it's ordered. Depending on where they are in the cooking process when the order is placed they may take 5 to 10 minutes to get through 5 cars. Same drive through menu as I have seen at the other locations, and as long as sweet tea was there today the rest wasn't really a concern. Ordered the Pork on the Salad. Pulled to the window and was served exceptionally fast (one car in front of me and I was still headed out in less than five minutes). They package their salad very different than the other locations, which I have to say you wouldn't think makes that much of a difference, but it does in this case. They use the cheap Styrofoam boxes in the other locations, where they use a plastic 2-piece container. Much more rigid and easy to chop things a little bit more. If you have never had a Full Moon salad you will probably be needing to cut the lettuce down to fit into your mouth as they don't spend a lot of time making the lettuce bite sized. Also includes tomato, cucumber, banana pepper, cheese, and red onion. All ingredients in the salad were exceptionally fresh and tasted perfect. My thing, may seem a little strange, is to use Full Moon BBQ as my salad dressing. Has perfect flavor for topping the pork on the salad. Drive through staff was courteous and made sure the order was right. Great location and will be coming again. read more
