The catfish is very good as are the homemade pies---BUT It is sooooo cold you can not enjoy your meal The service is sorely lacking It is NASTY and in disrepair. See photos. When I come to town I like to eat here but it is in need of a DEEP CLEAN and some cosmetic work. See the photos below of the blind that sat on My tabletop and the tile below my table. read more

Thank you so much for allowing me to call in a large order to be picked up. My brother was driving through from Mobile back to Cottondale. The person that took my order was very polite and asked questions he wasnt sure about. I wish I had gotten his name. All five orders were perfect when he got back with them all. We appreciate your helpfulness and delicious bbq! read more

Stopped for takeout on an impulse near their closing time. I was treated like I was the first customer of the day. My order was correct, delicious and the only thing that prevented it from being perfect was it didn't include bread. My baby back ribs were enough for two meals and I look forward to my next visit! read more

Worst restaurant I have eaten in a while. The people were nice enough. My wife ordered the rib sandwich which had bones in , how are you supposed to enjoy your sandwich if it has bones in it?! I ordered the pull pork sandwich which was okay! For the price I would not recommend, 16 dollars for 2 pieces of rib on lite bread and a greasy pulled pork sandwich. I would also like to add the medium cups there are small cups everywhere else read more

You know the feeling, you have to get bbq tonight. The ribs were good the coleslaw in vinegar is a favorite for me. The baked beans in a dark rich sauce delicious.. The pulled pork was also very good. The key lime pie let's just say I was lucky to get a slice as all my family and friends dug in real quick. It was my first trip to full moon bbq and it will not be my last. read more

Full Moon BBQ - Baby back rib (half rack) with two trimming. - Barbeque Near Me - McCalla, Alabama

The food has been horrible lately, the last 3 times I ate at FM the ribs were super dried out wasn't even worth eating, it takes at least 30 mins to go through the drive thru, so at least the damn food should be fresh !! Very disappointed read more

My friend and I stopped at the McCalla/Bessemer location after coming back from Trade Days. I ordered a Regular Turkey Sandwich, which came with the skin still on the slices of Turkey, making the turkey not very chewable. I always get this sandwich at Hoover store and there isn't any skin on it. I ordered a half rack of center cut spareribs for my son to go. At home the ribs were loaded with salt, so much salt that they were not edible. My son said the outside of the ribs were tough also. The Hoover Full Moon food is always reliable to be consistenly great. What a waste of money and such a disappointment. We were so hungry from walking all day long. Beware! I enjoy all of the food here and the staff is always effective, efficient, and friendly too.

Service was fast and the food was great!! I got the chopped pork plate with slaw and collard greens. The pork was sooo good! It was not fatty or gristly at all. That is such a turnoff to me. The slaw has a sweet peppery taste....really delicious. The greens were also perfect. Restaurant was clean!!!! A+ read more

Went out to support local businesses yesterday. Had a hankering for some good bbq. Ordered 1 lb pork, 1lb smoked turkey and large size baked beans & potato salad. Good news first the turkey was delish, the potato salad was not bad. The beans were not edible as they were too sweet almost dessert like and full of brown sugar & molasses. The chopped pork was way over cooked and tasted like cardboard was part of the recipe. My ticket was 50.00, so exactly half (25.00) was terrible. If you are going to put BBQ in your name you better be dang good at it. Or perhaps a name change to something more appropriate like HALF ASS BBQ ‼ read more

Very disappointed. I had smoked wings and they were overcooked. I got buffalo hot and the Louisiana hot sauce on the table was hotter. My daughter got a bacon cheeseburger and the bacon was cooked hard. My wife got a bbq baked potato and she was pretty happy with it. I just expected more quality on food. read more

Full moon is just okay, if you're craving bbq it's perfect, my favorite thing is their fries dipped in bbq sauce.

Good service. Friendly people. Great food. Good portion for the price. Always clean. Do not go at peak hours if you are in a hurry because it is usually standing room only. This is my second favorite bbq place to eat in the USA. Number one is in Prattville, Alabama. Yes, I believe it is THAT GOOD! read more

I get through this area quite often. I make it a point to stop at Full Moon. My favorites here are the loaded chili and collard greens. The chicken and catfish are also good. Not a huge fan of the sauce or the pork sandwiches at all. They do have a drive thru, but I went in to get carryout because I had to use the pisser. Place was clean and employees were very pleasant. I would recommend this location to everyone. read more

The Girlfriend and I were on a little road trip and we got hungry, so we decided to use Yelp to help us find something to eat... and Full Moon BBQ is where it took us. We were not disappointed. It was a Friday night, past the prime dinner hour and this place was still pretty busy. There were lots of cars in the parking lot and the line for the drive-thru was still wrapped around the building. This is fast food style setup with a huge dining area, massive big screen TV's all tuned to various sports channels. The decor is dedicated to sports programs from around the state. Being an Auburn fan, that's nice to see this close to Tuscaloosa. I saw Auburn, 'Bama, and UAB stuff in here... as well as a display of all the football helmets from around the SEC (minus the newly added Texas A&M and Mizzou). There were several people standing around the outside of the queue line. I assumed that they had ordered and were waiting for take out orders. We stepped right up into the line and looked over the pretty extensive menu. I finally settled on a pulled pork plate with baked beans and potato salad. The plate does some with a bun so you can make a sandwich. If you don't like spicy relish, make sure you ask them to ship the "chow-chow". The Girlfriend ordered a loaded baked potato. Once you order, you're supposed to go sit down and wait for them to call your number. Our cashier didn't explain that, so we stood around like the others did until a food runner took our trays into the dining room and called out our number. We grabbed our trays and took a seat. First impressions? Wow... that's a lot of food! I had so much pulled pork on my plate that I made a sandwich with the aforementioned bun and probably could have made two or three more with the leftover pork. The pork was cooked perfectly and not dried out and their "award winning" BBQ sauce was really good. So good, they also sell it in jars. Maybe I should have bought some. I had a heaping serving of potato salad just the way I like it (almost as good as my mom's), and some really tasty baked beans. The Girlfriend's baked potato was like a baked potato on steroids. It was huge... the length of my forearm. It's 1 1/2 huge baked potatoes together, covered in pork, sour cream, and other goodies. I ate everything on my plate and sampled a forkful of her baked potato... and it was just as good as my meal was. This is some phenomenal BBQ and if you haven't tried it... you should. You're missing out. read more

Very friendly and professional staff I work really hard and since you actually enjoy their job and their environment which says a lot about the management of his store. I cannot wait to return as a customer instead of a doordash driver read more

Love everything about this place. The food is always good and the employees are always nice and friendly.

This one might be a matter of taste but I hated almost everything. I like the marketing, menu etc. The cornbread and the baked beans were good. That's it. The ribs tasted strange. I'm not sure what's in their rub but I don't like it and it sure doesn't go with pork or their awful sauce. The sauce is a marinara like herby tomato thing. The ribs weren't good with or without it and they come sauced. The greens were too salty for me. I didn't finish my meal. I won't be back. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like their other choices based on these. read more

Good spot for some quick bbq. We came here for lunch and I ordered a beef brisket sandwich. Their brisket is excellent. You also get a choice of side, I opted for cole slaw. I'd like to come back here for dinner so I can get a full plate of ribs/other meats and multiple sides. I just didn't want to go that far for lunch. Person taking our order was nice and food came out really quick. The bbq sauce is the right amount of sweet and tangy and I felt very comfortable during the meal. I'd come back to try a full plate, lunch gave me a small taste but I want more. read more

It's okay BBQ.. The pulled pork was good. The ribs mediocre. I think it was the sauce I didn't like. The sides were okay, better than the can. I think over all I'd give them a C. read more

The BBQ at Full moon was delicious. We tried the pulled pork and chicken salad. Both were moist and tender. The sauce was nice and eaten with the chow chow it was perfect. I knocked down one star because there were a few bones in both the pork and chicken...not good. I also recommend the sweet tea. It was nothing like artificial sweet iced tea. You could really taste the freshly brewed tea, with just the right amount of sweetness. read more

The place was AWSOME!!!!! I had the open faced brisket sandwich. Ummm words can tell you how happy my mouth was. Very good brisket. They are a chain but MAN that was good! It was served on top of two pieces of think white bread. By the time I got down to see the bread it was perfect to fold in half and make a nice little barbecue sandwich. The Chow-chow was really good too. I am telling you we passed back by AL going to another event and I was totally broken up because we did not get to stop back by this place. I am looking out for this place anytime I go to AL. read more

Worst brisket I have had! I got a brisket salad and could not eat the meat. I tried cutting it and pulling it apart in small pieces, but it was the toughest meat I have ever gotten anywhere/ever. I could not chew it...I had to throw it away. If it had not been take out and I had been inside the restaurant, I would have returned it. Also, salad part was some lettuce, 2 tomato pieces and some cucumber cut in very unusual pieces. Definitely not worth the $12.99 I paid for it, or even half that amount! read more

Quite possibly the worst BBQ I've ever eaten. We stopped here as we were heading home from the Bama game. Always heard good things about Full Moon, but was completely disappointed. Pulled pork lacked flavor, BBQ sauce tasted like it was bought off the shelf at Kroger, pork sausage was over cooked. The fries were good. We will never go to another Full Moon. read more

Love this place. Great Greek salad, excellent veggies, and the burgers...oh my! Just be aware that burgers usually take an extra 15 minutes.

Ok let me start by saying my first experience with the chicken barbecue bake potatoe was when I purchased one on hwy 280 Birmingham Al and I was not happy, I think it was a leftover from the previous day and it was served in a styrofoam container. Today I decided to give full moon another chance and I ordered the bbq chicken baker, It was served in a different container (bowl) and it was the best potatoe I've ever had in my life. I will never eat at 280 full moon again but I will most definitely eat at the Mccalla location. You guys outdid yourself. from the look of the food to the taste if I could give you 10 stars I would... read more

The food was great, but there were way too many people working behind the counter and they were all goofing off the entire time we were ordering, including the person taking my order. He would ask what we wanted, listen half way, and then make a comment to his friends. I'm all about enjoying yourself while you work, but have enough respect to listen to me while I'm ordering. I wasn't surprised when my order got to me and it wasn't correct. read more

Went here last night and it was great! I really am not a huge fan of bbq but what I had was so good. Loved the Mac & cheese. The chopped chicken sandwich was delicious. We have eaten here more times than we actually wanted. We live in this area so if you want barbecue it is your only choice. Pros : food is ok, not the best but very acceptable. Nice and clean Cons: way pricier than other barbecue joints, that have better barbecue . Restaurant stays wayyyy too cold. I'm very hot natured and I got cold. My husband was absolutely miserable he was so cold. There were very few people in there and he asked if they could turn it up so it wasn't so cold and the answer was it was hot in the back ( the kitchen). If you are new to their menu it is a little confusing. Staff needs to inform you of the relish on the sandwiches and to go sit that they will call your number. But in all fairness that depends on which teenager you get that is working the register. Between it being over priced and so cold ( we do not normally carry jackets in the car when it is summer time), I don't think we will be back. read more

Maybe it's because it's been so long since I've had (good) catfish, but I have to say I really really liked the open face catfish sandwich! Light on the tartar sauce but that was good for me. Fries are the big kind with lots of potato in each so they were good too. Hope your experience is the same! NOTE: This is the MCCALLA location - their address shows as Bessemer. People local will know how this works though (I hope!) read more

BBQ joint. Atmosphere - Neat decorations with tons of Auburn and Bama stuff. Decently clean. Staff - Friendly Food - Like all other BBQ in this area it is pretty much the same as all the others. The difference here is the "chow chow sauce" It's like cold slaw they put on top. I'm not a fan of any food I have to doctor up to eat. If it is great it should stand on its own. Just my opinion. read more

Pros: Some of the best BBQ chicken I've had. Very clean with lots of condiments. Cons: Everything else is kind of just OK. Sauce is bland. Ribs are mediocre. BBQ beans were not as good as canned. Almost all teenage staff except for middle age manager. You have to ask for a refill. read more

My husband and I ordered the one piece catfish plates to eat in. Total was $30.11 he gave the cashier a 50 dollar bill and 11 cents the young man took it and closed the register. Had to tell it had been a fifty. When our plates came we were told the FF would be out in a few minutes. None of the requested extra tarter sauce or offered chow chow. The hush puppies that come with the meal had been replaced with two slices of white loaf bread! The FF arrived. I started eating the catfish it was so hard and over cooked it was burnt. The piece my husband had was so small it should not have been called the one piece. I was upset and went up front and asked a young man for the chow chow, extra tarter sauce, and salt and pepper for burnt fish. He just laughed behind his mask. I turned and went back to my booth. A man I assume too be a manager brought us the items. All he did was make excuses. That was the last of the catfish, they were out of the muffin mix. He would speak to the guys about burning the fish and they could drop another one. I thought they were out. He could give us our money back? Just go away. We will not go back to this location. Who eats white bread with catfish in a restaurant and pays $30.11 for the privilege? read more

Two trips (so far), two very good meals. The meat was perfectly cooked and tender beyond description, sauces are flavorful and service is awesome. Why a five star rating? I'd do a solid 4.5 rating if I could, but the app only does full stars and these guys are close to a 5 than a 4. Other than that, I have had one or two items that were, in my opinion, better at other places I've been, although I have not had anything that was not good here, just a taste or texture preference, mainly regarding side dishes. All told, I don't see where you could go wrong at this place. The ribs are amazing, by the way, and should not be missed. Just in town for a little while for work, and found Full Moon on yelp. Glad we did. If I find myself back in the area this will be on my short list of dining options. read more
