The food here is usually good, but the staff is not very friendly any more. Used to be a great place. At least the tea is still good.

This place is horrible!!! I have yet to get a decent plate of food here...the chopped pork was so dry and crumbly...it looked and tasted like cardboard...the rib tips were Burnt...some were half done...it's nasty at this location..I only gave a 1 star rating because I had too...it ain't worth that!!! read more

We stopped in here on the way back to SC from MS. We ordered at the same time and all got our food at different times. One of the main things I love about BBQ is that it's already ready from having been smoked for hours but that wasn't the case here. While I am not a BBQ subject matter expert, I do know and love good BBQ. (growing up and living in the state where BBQ was invented - South Carolina.) I have been wanting to try Full Moon since family moved to McCalla. Today I got my chance. The restaurant is an order-at-the-counter-we'll-bring-your-food place. The young lady at the counter who was dressed in a pale-blue t-shirt with a long blonde pony-tail could not be more dour. She never smiled nor said hello. This was my first time and I asked for recommendations. They were nonexistent. I ordered a pulled pork plate with fried green tomatoes and collard greens and sweet tea. I was given a cup and pointed to the tea dispensers. There were two with sweet tea. The one I drew from tasted like it had mold in it or at best the tea was made with dirty water. I got tea from the other dispenser and it was old and had gone bad. The health department may wanna check them out. The girl who took my order also brought my food. She did not smile, did not respond to my "thank you," and basically threw the food on the table, took my number and left. The BBQ and sauce itself was very good. Fried green tomatoes and the bit of chow chow that came were superb. The collards are over-salted and taste as if the box of salt had been dropped in it. I am torn over the rating. Food deserves at least 4 stars, but the service and friendliness, less than one star. This is definitely NOT how we do it in South Carolina. I'm giving 2 stars. If the people aren't friendly, its not worth coming for the food. read more

Personally I don't care for relish on my sandwich (you'll have to ask if you want to skip it, it comes by default) but I've had the ribs there twice and they are just absolutely fantabulous. read more

It's okay BBQ.. The pulled pork was good. The ribs mediocre. I think it was the sauce I didn't like. The sides were okay, better than the can. I think over all I'd give them a C. read more

Good BBQ for a chain, certainly not as good as the Q that comes out of my smokers but I can't expect perfection from a chain. This was probably the best BBQ I've had in a retail environment. A bit pricey but good Q isn't cheap. read more

Full Moon McCalla, Al This review is a 2 for the service more than the food. Being 4th of July we wanted barbecue and have eaten at Full Moon many times. I called the order in at 1 and was told it would be ready at 1:30. We gave it plenty of time. When my husband arrived home it was not our order, I understand as mistakes can be made. The rub came when I called and talked with a young man who showed absolutely no concern. After explaining what had happened he put me on hold and then informed me that he had my call in order still there because we had not picked it up. Again I told him we had picked it up but had received the wrong order. Then he asked if I placed two orders. No, I told him and then told him he was being very rude, which he argued that he was not. His tone however stated otherwise. He said come back and we will get a new order ready for you. I stated my husband would be over in about ten minutes, he said fine it will be ready. Not one time did he apologize for the error, for us having to make another trip to pick up our food. I am very disappointed in the employee I spoke with at Full Moon who never gave a name nor had the courtesy to apologize. It will be a long before I frequent this restaurant if ever. My friends and I and my family have eaten there on many occasions and this whole episode could have been avoided if the employee had listened to what I was telling him and offered an apology. When husband returned with our order, no drinks. errrrrrrrr Food was good. read more

The food is ok, not the best but it can be pretty solid. I'm tired of being hosed with take out orders here tho. They screw up every time, we have to go back in or go back to the restaurant each time. Best slaw ever. The brisket was very good, just a little too much sauce but overall very yummy!

After a 12 hour shift at work I was tired and wasn't up to cooking and I had been craving wings all day so I thought a BBQ place must have good smoked wings. So I ordered a 10 piece, plain and a tea to drink. I got home and found that I was missing 1 single wing from my plate, which wasn't a huge deal but obviously annoying because it wasn't cheap ($16 for 10 wings and a drink, the website stated it was $10 for 10 wings which was incorrect) then I start to dig in and OMG BEST FREAKING WINGS I've had from a restaurant possibly ever. My husband makes me smoked wings all the as it is one of my most favorite meals and these were up there with his on my top favorites for sure! My only other complaint was the tea was nasty, which was disappointing. I called and spoke to the manager and he was so nice and accommodating, I only wish I had eaten first before I called so I could at least compliment on how incredible the wings were! Overall great experience because the food was awesome and mistakes happen but I was taken care of and the manager again was very nice and understanding. I will definitely be back! read more

Placed a to go order over the phone and was told the order would be ready in 15 minutes. Was on my way to the restaurant and received a call from the restaurant that they were out of onion rings. Got to the restaurant shortly after that and paid for the order, was not told if the order was ready or how much longer it would be. Waited about 15-20 minutes and asked someone if my order was ready and it was sitting in the window, not sure how long it had been sitting there. No employee asked if I needed anything or checked to see if they could help while I was waiting on my to-go order. Will not go back to this location, too many teenagers working at the restaurant, no sense of urgency and no concern for customer service. read more

My family and I got take out from Full Moon BBQ tonight 09/24/16 so we could the game. I didn't check for correction. It was wrong of course this was the 3rd time In several weeks. First time I chalked it up too "the person that picked it up rust ordered it wrong. A week or so latter I ate in the restaurant and my order was completely wrong. They corrected the issue. When I was done I went to the restroom to wash up, I witnessed an employee coming out of the stall and absolutely did not was his hands. I witnessed him go right back to the kitchen and start working. I called tonight because that place is not right. I ask for a manager and person named Jeff picked up and we so confortatial that I had to remind Jeff that I was the customer. Ive ate here in the past and it was good food, but i ate there lastnight and i got the half rack of ribs, potato salad, and mac and cheese. The ribs seems to be boiled and then sheered (idk what bbq place does that) but they were disappointing. The mac and cheese looked ilke it had been sitting out for half a day, very dry. The potato salad just wasent my taste. I rate 2 stars because it was good service, and the sweet tea is amazing. But dont plan on visiting again, maybe another location. read more

Not impressed....service was sloppy....order was messed up ....and our food wasn't as good as its supposed to be. The staff looked like gang members throwing up gang signs and couldn't keep their pants up. Makes u not trust ur food to begin with and that's just the first impression from the drive thru window. When I got home with our supper my BBQ salad was soggy and the meat was nasty and stringy with melted cheese and watery lettuce on the bottom. Ive never ordered a bbq salad and it comes home like that. it looked like it was an older order. I can get a way better BBQ salad at The Shack in Talladega where I'm from. They have BBQ that makes ur tongue slap ur cheek!!! I got somebody elses bbq plate with soggy corn and weird slaw, our baby back ribs were spare ribs, and they were tough, but the seasoning they used on the Spare ribs was good and gave them a good flavor. I paid good money for my food ($50) and expected to get my money's worth and was no where near impressed. Yeah they may have a big wordy menu but that doesn't mean much if the BBQ isnt any good. So much for us going back and that sucks cause we live here now. read more
