Tucked away off of Old Route 13, Midland Inn is perhaps on of the best places to place an order for a jumbo margarita and enjoy a country feeling with a plethora of friendly locals. Waitstaff will always share a genuine smile that provides a relaxing mood for enjoying one of the best BBQ places in the area. It's worthy to note: if you're looking for fall off the bone ribs, that yield notes of tender-loving care, then this is the place. Although the prices are low, they are in no way indicative of the portion sizes nor quality. Either inside or outside, both are great environments to meet up with friends and enjoy the hospitality that Southern Illinois has to offer. Personal favorite aside from the ribs and a fair-priced old fashioned is their pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans and fries. Sweet and savory only to be washed down with a great cocktail. Worth every minute and penny.

I enjoy their side by side two flavor frozen margaritas or daiquiris. Service I typically sit at the bar or get takeout called in over the phone. Good service and they get my to go orders correct. My favorite was the crimson eclipse. Food- 3/5. We ordered some appetizers and they were a little disappointing/did not match the description of the menu. The margarita pizza was a little spicy. Fruit and cheese plate had some nice jam, but the presentation was off. Crab cakes were small. Also, the menu on their website was slightly outdated. I would still recommend this location as it's very classy, great for groups, and plenty of parking. Service was excellent. Indoor and outdoor seating.

We ordered appetizers a calzone ( burnt in on end, blackened on the bottom -bitter tasting) and a sandwich ( warm, chips oily and soggy). It seems like there are only 2-3 staff working on a graduation / Mother's Day weekend ???? Service was slow but these folks were clearly overwhelmed. They were polite and apologetic for the food preparation time. There were very few folks there so they weren't slammed busy and overwhelmed, just overwhelmed. We likely won't be back. $325 Dinner and drinks bill and any chain place with mid quality drinks and food ( Chilis, Applebee's, Cheddars, ) would be 1/2 the cost and clearly better. An upscale place ( Flame, Texas Roadhouse, Outback) would be a way bether choice for comparable money. The Venue is stunning and looks clean. Hopefully they get it together, or get someone in the space who can. Disappointed at best.

Raise a glass to the ghost of Pags…read more For the past 25 years, this was the place that we compared all other pizza to. As soon as you walked in the door, that heady smell of rising dough, fresh-made tomato sauce and baking cheese welcomed you like an old friend. As soon as we entered the parking lot and saw only one car there at 8:30 on a Friday night in a college town, we started to worry. I had seen in the reviews here that ownership had changed, but retained some small hope that the Pags we knew still existed. But no. There may have been a wisp of an aroma but we realized pretty quickly that it must have just been a ghost. Since we still had 7 hours on the road ahead of us, we had called our order in. The fact that the staff didn't understand what "dine in" meant for our order meant that both the person who took the order on the phone and the manager they consulted hadn't bothered to communicate to the rest of the staff. So our pizzas were boxed up and waiting when we got there - but not in anything that would keep them warm. The server plated them on pizza platters, but didn't bother warming them up, so they were barely above room temp when served. And the pizza itself? Boring. Pedestrian. Like any other pizza made with Sysco products. My "thin and crispy" was thinnish, but by no stretch of the imagination was it crispy. The savory, crunchy crust I remembered was replaced by an anemic 1/4 inch rim, no crunch. No flavor. SO and YO split a "thin and chewy," which had the weirdest edge I think I've seen. SO reports it "perfectly adequate;" everything that made Pags special was lacking. "Sure was pizza." The staff were nice. The floor by the counter was really sticky - to the point that I could both feel and hear my shoes sticking. That was gross. We were last here about 15 years ago, so I guess that will have to be the Pags we remember. This one is perfectly forgettable.

To my understanding, Sausea seafood, like many other Carbondale Classics has changed hands and ownership, over the years. Striving to reopen this saucy joint was a reallllly good move! As a new comer to Southern Illinois it was really heartwarming and belly filling to rinse off a bad day in Cajun butter! And this father son duo offers just that! It actually poured raining while I was visiting and I saw unhoused being welcomed in off the street, the local barber swinging by to chop it up after a long days work, an old head holding court at the front table, all the while the speakers banged the tunes. All I was missing was a hurricane or a daiquiri! I ordered whichever of the specials come with a lobster tail, and it was worth the splurge baby!!! It wasn't the cheapest solo date night I've had in the area, but a time was had nonetheless! I LOVE WHAT YALL GOT GOING ON HERE! Keep it up Gentlemen!

There were three flavors to choose from (garlic butter, lemon pepper, or sausea's sauce) & I picked sauseas (mixture of cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter). I rated an 8/10 because the flavor was there, but the lemon pepper was a little over powering! The inside of the restaurant was underwhelming, but service was great! Complimentary salad and garlic bread was a nice touch. Definitely will go back for the boil & to try other menu items!
