I was looking at Dominguez for future kitchen remodel but decided to do yard first but when Frank said they do everything, I was able to get his bid and input on my vision for the yard. We just moved in a house in South Pasadena with a back unit. It's an old house, so we have done some work with different contractors before moving in, and had various experience working with them. One of the previous guys messed up the hinges of our doors, so we had to fire him in the middle of the job. I called Dominiguez Construction to fix the doors, as well as getting some other works done, especially the back unit. Frank has been professional from the very beginning. We scheduled a consultation session, and I was immediately impressed by his knowledge and expertise. He gave me all the information I needed and answered all my questions. After the consultation we decided to go ahead with two projects: the back unit renovation and cleaning up of garage. The back unit has not been update in quite a few years: awkward sink in the small room, broken windows sill that has a huge gap, an outdated air conditioner unit in the middle of the room. We wanted to make the unit more livable and cosy. Frank and his crew did a fantastic job. For example, they took out the old air conditioner, closed the hole in the wall, and matched the fixed wall to the existing ones. They did such a great job that I didn't even notice the patching job! The color for the outside wall looks exactly the same as the existing wall, which may be at least a few decades old. I really appreciate their attention to details, and their dedication to get it right. Frank communicates well. Unlike some other contractors we worked with, he is upfront about the cost structure of the quote. He is transparent about the cost structure of labor and materials, and does not hesitate to communicate clearly with us. To be honest, I never understand the reason why some people would not want to communicate the cost structure. Maybe because most people don't value labor as much? In any case, we understand the value of labor and craftsmanship. Being open and upfront in fact gives us more confidence and trust in working with Frank and his crews. Other than top notch craftsmanship and open communication, what I also appreciate is their consideration, and the above and beyond effort to reduce inconvenience. For example, our nanny lives in the back unit, so she moved to my office temporarily for the project. Knowing this, Frank brought extra people to speed up the project so that we can get back to our normal life quicker. As another example, seeing that we have accumulated lots of large size card boxes after moving in and holiday seasons, Frank and his crews volunteered to help us recycle those boxes. These might seem like small gestures, but they showcase the professionalism. We could not be happier with the new back yard that Francisco and his team created for us! They transformed an uneven dirt patch into a beautiful lawn that's easy to take care of, and they completed it quickly with careful attention to every detail. The job included regrading the yard so that water didn't pool at the foundation of our house, placing a cement slab next to the house to help keep water away and allow for some storage space, installing an automated irrigation system, planting sod, removing part of our uneven driveway, and closing the yard with a beautiful custom-built fence with a gate. All of this took only about a week from start to finish! (and they would have been done even faster if the sod we chose had been available sooner) Now we have a great place to relax and our dog has a safe place to run around. We are so glad we chose Dominguez Construction again (this is the third time and we know it won't be the last) since they really do exceptional work!
