This restaurant is yet another Robert Irvine sledge hammer special waiting to happen, but I love this place with great muchness (not a real word, I know, but that is how I feel so work with me). Domingo's is and is not your average breakfast joint. "What the hell does that mean?", you ask. The menu has all the usual suspects, pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, etc. What makes this place great is that I can pretty much literally top a pancake with an enchilada of my choice if I really felt the urge or gorge on one of my favorite Mexican dishes, Machaca and it would all be solid, well prepared food. For the traditional Mexi-breakfast lovers, they also make a mean Menudo. Service is what you'd expect from the cast of Alice minus the sharp-tongued, hash slinging, disgruntled short order cook screaming at the servers. Not slow, not fast, not poor and not over enthusiastic, just a hard, middle of the road service atmosphere. Do not go here if you are looking for fancy. This is your tasty, multi cultural gut bombing, hangover curing, church crowd if you show up too late on a Sunday, blast from the breakfast past. read more

I'm gonna start by saying this, I'm straight up Mexican. Not Hispanic, not Latino but full blooded Mexican, Home Depot Certified! Going to a restaurant with the word "cafe" in it, you would never expect some authentic Mexican dishes. I've tried so many different places and nothing compares to the Menudo here! Those who know about Menudo should know that if its not cleaned right it has a scent that's not pleasing. This place has the best Menudo I have ever tried. The guy who waited on us was funny and personable. He started our day off with a nice vibe! Had the egg, potato, cheese and sausage burrito which was huge (I could only eat half of it) and it was delicious. Put some mild salsa on top to give it more flavor too. My sister had the heuvos rancheros which she enjoyed. We are a bit particular about our Mexican rice but we gave the thumbs up on the rice that came with it. Good fresh b-fast for a decent price. They also have free wifi there if you think turning off your phone for a few minutes is the end of the world. From the outside, Domingo's Cafe looks a bit shady and the neighboring buildings don't help that image either. But when we walked in and saw that the place was completely filled with people, we were quite surprised and relieved. Guess we should have known better...30+ reviews with a 4-star rating don't lie. Anyways, our food was fairly priced and pretty good. I got a Breakfast Burrito with bacon, generously filled with egg. The inside of the restaurant does look very old with a bunch of old posters and table cloths, but I guess it's fine. Only thing that caused me to take off a star was the wait time. It looked like since they were so busy they couldn't get to everyone in a timely fashion to take our orders. They let you sit wherever that's open, so I assume that doesn't help. read more

It was good - not great. Service was excellent. Prices were fair. Coffee was fresh and warm and better than most diner coffee. 3.5 for the food, 5 for the service. Had an amazing first time here. Walked in and was immediately starstruck by the atmosphere of the room. Felt warm, included and very welcome. Being out-of-towners, we tend to try the unique places. We came across this family run business that had good size portions, good food and great service. Fascinating building with lots of history adds to ambiance (we had the luxury of Tony? Tomas? oops, forgot his name tell us about the building and it's history). Wife had the Chicken Enchilada Omelette with home potatoes that she loved. I had a custom built Breakfast burrito with bacon, sausage and hash browns instead of the home potatoes in it.....killer, huge, too big to hold, but I almost ate it all. My only regret is I should have left enough room to try some of my wife's omelette that she couldn't finish (too much). We left there fat, dumb and happy. I had the best service with our waiter Thomas! I was with a group of five of my hungover friends. He was so friendly and on top of everything. He seriously took such good care of us. He split all of our checks, got us a pitcher of water, and checked on us to make sure the food was good (which it was). Usually waiters roll their eyes at college students in large groups, but we were treated with respect. I was beyond satisfied with the service and the food was excellent. The best place in Goleta, or maybe even the Santa Barbara area, to sit in a Mission-style breakfast place and hang out with old locals. We were getting our breakfast on before going out to a hike later, so we decided on Domingo's. And what better dish to order in an older Spanish-themed breakfast place than huevos rancheros? They were just fine, and I was just looking for an honest, filling breakfast and some coffee to start out the day, and that's what you'll get from Domingo's. It's worth the visit just to check out the Old Spanish Days posters on the wall dating back to the '60s and '70s, and the picture in the back of downtown SB in the '30s. This place is possibly the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Absolutely wonderful. The service was fantastic, everything we ate was fresh and homemade. Also...I'm not sure if you've encountered the problem of soggy hashnrowns, but almost all the places we've been to lately only seem to cook one side leaving the other a sad and soggy mess. We're old-time residents of Goleta, and long-time customers of Domingo's - they're the best! Check out the chile rellenos with eggs (fixed however you like 'em) - it beats huevos rancheros any day of the week! I like their French toast because it's extra well-done, the way I fix it myself. Lunches are good too. Be sure to ask about specials for either meal, they can sometimes be something very surprising and are usually a treat. read more

I really don't know why many people rave over this place. Service was very poor. My family and I had to wait 30 minutes for someone to get to US only to be told that we had to wait longer. It was not packed. A couple that came in after us got served first and yet the couple that was there before us was still waiting. read more

Went in for brunch on Labor Day, which was hectic. It was hard to tell how much was due to the holiday, but service was a bit inattentive and slow. I think they overcharge a bit for the food they are serving. It's a nice fusion of Mexican flavors with standard American breakfast fare though so if you're looking for that specifically, it may be worth a try. read more
